He's incredible. So down to earth and the sorts too. He motivates too, especially when we were doing some training and some were struggling (we were only young haha) and he would run alongside us and chat and encourage. I was truly devastated when he retired.

I love that he stuck to his word. Once retired that was it. It was almost like no other club could ever top United. He'd reached what he'd felt was the highest he could go. Amazing guy.

Is that news for FDJ? Clearly they want him gone, the issue is whether he wants to join United and the deferred wages. Both issues can’t be resolved by Xavi.
It'll be Frenkie, Depay, Puig, and a few others. Maybe Frenkie respects him so much that he'll give up the 17m and start packing his bags right away.
No they can't, but knowing he has no future at the club and that he's not wanted will make him more open to leaving and negotiating the wages... they hope. He could just be a stubborn arsehole and say screw you I'm staying. Unlikely though I'd say.
If he didn't want to come to United I think we'd have walked away by now. Ten Hag will have his assurances and he'll be in contact with de Jong, so should anything change he'd know.
You never know, they might get the news, then handed their suitcases and plane tickets back to Europe. Five beefy security guards making sure all goes to plan and there's no issues, Xavi might even provide them with some complimentary one-ply tissue to wipe the tears away too
