PSG might have been mentioned at the earlier stages but not Real. But it's not a surprise that pretty much every big club would make an offer at least. It's for the player to choose
Ah ok then. I don't ever remember Madrid being mentioned hence why i asked.
At the end of the day, money talks, and if he wants to earn a huge pay day and be the centre of a rebuild, he'd choose United. If he wants intense competition and in all probability, higher chance of short term success, he'll go to Barca

Choosing barca is longer term success, choosing us isnt guaranteed success now or in the near future

Also why the feck would Overmars prefer to sell to Barca? It makes no sense.

To be honest, money is the only thing United can offer. Being centre of a rebuilding isn’t an advantage.

He is definitely joining us.

None of these pretentious fecks can handle that their golden boy might actually like the rough and tumble of the Premier League over their pretty keep-your-ball-and-nuts-on-the-ground football in Spain. It's even more beautiful seeing their disbelief that he might go to a non Champions League side, instead of the illustrious PSG or fabled Barcelona, both of whom have shown the world how to well and truly lose a knockout tie in spectacular fashion.

This.

All of this just seems like damage control from other clubs to make it seem as if De Ligt has opted to take a higher offer for money and save face on losing out.

Did they talk about him on MUTV during the weekend? If they did I think he is coming.

The opinions about his transfer saga is becoming saltier. I think he has made an unorhodox decision and chosen us over Barcelona.

I absolutely hate the way some journalist are talking about United. Guess that’s the price of SAF’s dynasty back in the days.

Ex Barca playe .
That shouldn't play into his role at Ajax though. I'm sure VDS would prefer him to move to United but I don't see that being played up.
A lot of people have been pushing this mystic link between the two clubs over the last few months and I really don't think that's there.

I never understand why CL comes into the equation. It’s 1 year he’s missing (we hope) that’s not going to effect him.

We've finished top four twice in six years - this season is not a one-off or a blip.

Regular Champions League football is no longer something we can legitimately promise perspective players.

Bingo, this is getting into familiar territory.

I love how this thread still stays positive throughout the blitz surrounding us! We deserve De Ligt

Do these guys at the De telegraph know that Utd are not in the CL next year and might be back the following year? They talk as if we will never be in the CL..

”Manchester United got mentioned but that would be a mistake from De Ligt. He would want to play Champions League and he can go to other big clubs that do play Champions League.’”

The most stupid opinion ever. One fecking season without CL and thats a mistake. The kid is 19 years old ffs.

No-one has a clue what's going on at the moment, by the sounds of it.

I don't think he'll join us but the mini meltdowns these people are having gives me bit more confidence.

You should compare with other clubs also interested on De Ligt. Barcelona, Madrid and PSG are in the CL every single year without a doubt. But we were struggle to make it too often last few years.

Tbf it might be more than one. I wouldn't bet on us getting top 4 atm

This is a rather optimistic viewpoint.

Champions League isnt even the be all and end all. Fair enough join PSG and play a few decent teams in Champs league but play absolute dross week in week out domestically.

Imagine being "forced" to move to a club and get paid 350k/week. I hope one day I am "forced" to a football club.

I get what you are saying but remember the guy is 19 years old! He has just played in a CL semi final and it would be weird if he doesnt want to stay at that level. And whether he gets paid 250k/wk or 350/wk he would still be absolutely bloody loaded for a kid of his age. So 'forcing' him to come to United with all risks involved is not going to make him happy. Essentially he has options and he will be looking at the full package when making a decision. Now if United fits his eye for some reason that is another matter, but if he feels the next stage of his development is in the comfortable surroundings of PSG (class players, league titles, guaranteed CL football every year) or the grandeur of Barcelona (same but tougher domestic football and better CL pedigree) then so be it. If all goes well he could stay there forever or look to more again in 5 seasons at age 24 (still a baby for a defender). Otherwise he comes to United, which pays well also, but he has to get involved in top 4 dog fights to get CL footy again and a bit of toxic squad unless Ole guts it quickly.

Coming to United makes the least sense and that is the challenge the club is facing. As I said earlier he would do us a massive favour if he came here, helping us attract other top talent by making them take our rebuild seriously.

I think we deserve a lot more respect. That shit makes me fecking angry. It’s okay that we have struggled some years and we are out of the CL next season, but we are a great club. We have won more than Liverpool during our “not so good years”.

Pretentious people like that can piss off!

I think we will be top 4 next season. We are probably not going to challenge for the title, but top 4 should be very possible imo.

That's a lot to ask of whoever the new manager is when he takes over around Christmas.

It's not stupid at all. We are closer to Everton than we are to Liverpool and would take years to get to that level again. That's assuming we actually stick with a manager for longer than 2 years, which recent history suggests we don't. Add to that the shit infastructure behind the scenes and no top player would touch us with a barge-pole if we didn't show them the money.

I like your passion. We need to keep this. But if you look at our league performance we are the equivalent of what tottenham used to be. So players have to risk join that level of success vs joining clubs vying for the biggest prizes in football.

We are closer to Everton? :wenger: No, we are not closer to Everton.

Well, we can talk about this next year. Then we know.

:lol::lol:

Those morons can’t believe we are even an option, these briefings are a joke.

‘Man Utd would be a mistake’ haha feck off, he’s obviously thinking about the offer then.

Muppets...assemble.
