Is his time at Chelsea over? Signs are pointing to him wanting out.

Yeah the writings on the wall really, he gone. Not thrilled at the idea he could be playing for us next season, but at the very least he'd be a proper RW option for a change.

I notice one journalist said that he's viewed as the perfect age to bridge the gap until the likes of Chong have developed enough. I said this a while ago, people can't complain that we should give our young players chances and then in a different thread say we should go out and sign Pulisic etc who will spell the end for the likes of Chong and Gomes.

If we believe that Chong will be good enough, then Willian is a brilliant option right now.

Is this just going to be another Sanchez ie the sun setting on his time at the top? Hope not but can’t help but wonder if Chelsea are just going to let him go. If it’s true that Conte is a dead man walking then Willian leaving would not be his decision.

30 y.o. in 6 weeks.

Willian is still at peak form and no signs of decline. Best RWer out there arguably to suit Mourinho and United in general being EPL proven.

2-4 years of starting production would be worth it imo.

These signs will change once Conte leaves, which is almost certain at this point.

Willian is 29 but is privileged athletically. He will probably still be very explosive at 32.

He won't be expensive, he can't improve us for 2 seasons at least? It's not like he has to play 8 years for us. If he can make us win more points in the next 1 or 2 seasons for a cheap price, why not?

Watching Sanchez this season..... don't be so sure. I wouldn't mind Willian for a decent price though, not with Martial going the over way.

Willian makes 1000 times more sense than the Sanchez transfer. Will massively improve the right wing and set pieces.

Get where your concern is but they’re different. Alexis is relied on to score. Willian not so much as he’s more just a machine working the right side of the pitch who opens up a lot for others. Considering we have have no right side, Willian would be a big addition.

Linked to us every year, always find the idea of signing him underwhelming

Would love him here. Always liked him as a player and we have a hole in RW.

So it's obvious he wants to leave. If he is hell bent on joining us, Chelsea will be forced to sell him to us. They'll definitely charge a premium though as they won't be happy at all with selling another player to United.

Exactly the type of signing we need.

Seems like his problem is more with Conte rather than Chelsea.

We will be in the same situation Bayern are in soon, with two ageing wingers. One of whom will be on 300k a week and neither of whom are as good as Robben and Ribery. We are in the shit if this goes through, Mourinho out!

Honestly we need to stop signing talent for the sake of talent and make this summer all about fixing our system. We play awful football but we’ve spent a lot of money on good players, Sanchez should be on the level of Hazard but he’s no way near, Lukaku did well but could get more than 16 goals for sure, Mata/Pogba are under achieving given their talent & Rashford/Martial have more ability than they’re able to show.

Let this summer be the summer we concentrate on fixing the team balance so those good players actually fit in a team and can play well and live up to their potential. If we sign another expensive talent we’d just spend a whole new season with a massive headache trying to figure out how to fit them in to our system. I’d love another worldie like Griezmann but honestly it would harm more than help us right now our team is such a mess.

So for all those reasons I’d love a player like Willian, he ticks so many boxes

- Proper right winger
- Can give the team width (create space in the middle)
- Very dynamic movement, never static and makes great runs

We don’t have any of those qualities above at all in the team. He’d definitely create space in the middle where we’re so congested right now, he would elevate the level of all our other players just like Lukaku did this season. Every attacking player this season doubled their goals/assists compared to last season and a lot was down to the effect Lukaku has on creating space and improving build up, I believe Willian would have the same effect.

The guy we sign doesn’t need to score 20 goals but he should definitely help Sanchez get 20, Pogba, Rashford and Lingard get 10+

No thanks. Would much rather we work with the group of attackers we already have. Would take him if it means we could offer them Sanchez or Mata in exchange

This would be an underwhelming signing. The pros of getting him would be if we were intending on slowly introducing Chong to the first team as a shadow to Willian. However, there are better options in the market which are attainable such as Pulisic or Mahrez.

I feel that Willian could be another deadwood player this point next year.

If you mean soon as in 4/5 years then soon indeed.
If only we had a great winger coming through our ranks...

I would take him any time, but that Instagram photo in which he covers Conte with emojis is a very childish mentality!

Yes please! We don't even have a RW now and it shows, no threat from the right side at. Wouldn't pay more than 30 mill for him though.

I tend to agree. He's a workhorse on the right wing. I thought we wanted true quality. Yes I know he had an amazing month or so this season but that is the exception rather than the norm. Depends how long the contract is too. A 2 or 3+1 would be OK but a 4 or a 5 would be a mistake.

Indeed. Poor show from him there.

Chelsea fans seem to think he's not all that, and that he's wildly inconsistent. So I'm a bit wary about this. Not to mention he's nearly 30 (he has the same birthday as me!)

Still, they said Matic was poor for them in his last season and he turned out pretty well. It'd be nice to have an actual winger.

No where have I heard that before?

We’ve made plenty of good signings in recent years. You just can’t attribute a league title to any of them so apparently they shouldn’t count?

I truly understand that we needed to sign some players at this age but only this age ?

He's not an actual winger though. He's very much a Mourinho winger, a powerful and fast workhorse with questionable end product. He's no Ribery or Robben, players that have his attributes but more quality on the ball. He'll probably end up playing right back for us within a couple of years.

Really don't want Willian.

He's a decent player, but he won't solve our problems.

We don't score enough goals and Willian has never scored more than 8 in the league for Chelsea. We'd be continuing to rely heavily on Lukaku, and hoping Sanchez starts to score as well.

I went to watch Chelsea play Brighton away a few months back and on his day I think Willian is as good as Hazard. How United fans could not be excited about this signing is mad. But I guess it's more about how Mourinho plays him.

I think he would be a positive signing, gives us just what we need on the right wing. Adds value to the team. Thumbs up for this one.

The Valencia replacement we have all been waiting for:drool:

Not particularly a huge fan of him, but he can deliver a corner/indirect free kick, which would be great to finally see, as we've not had that since RVP. We do need a right winger too.

We'd be daft to pay silly money for him though, and we'd look even sillier if Martial is part of any deal.

I don't give a shit about how old he is, if he is a top RW we should go for him. It's looking like we'll get a good deal too.

I don't want another season of fecking Lingard/Mata etc on the right. Need some proper width.
