I was "touché" last season againt Barcelona or even Chelsea after winning the 1st leg. Certainly not here.
I knew it would have been a miracle to qualify given
- the 1st leg
- the injury of Neymar
- Cristiano Ronaldo
- an opposing team more experienced and performing at the European stage
we had 25% of chances after the 1st leg. Not an absolute shame to be kicked out by Madrid
You said it yourself. The best players (bar Mbappé) have left more challenging leagues to play in a one-team league for a massive amount of money. Hardly screams "determined to compete in the tough leagues" IMO.
RM, Chelsea, City and Barca are all quality sides and there's no shame in losing to them.
So what can we judge them by? They're an elite side until proven otherwise?
They haven't performed to a level that the likes of Roma haven't done. Their ability to be knocked out of the last 16 every year is at Arsenal levels of reliability.

Their inexperience in facing top teams is clearly showing. That's the problem with being top dogs in a one-team league, it just doesn't prepare you for back-to-back games against the top sides.

Only time Psg showed any bottle was when they got past Chelsea with 10 men. Surprised as they were, then they collapsed against an ordinary City side. Beating Madrid was difficult but they basically played like an inferior team throughout today which is all too typical each year.
Don't get me wrong this has nothing to do with France, but we all know the level of French league so let's be honest. It's a terrible league competition wise.
That's not a surprise though. Nobody goes to play in France for footballing reasons. We mock City but playing in England is a massive pull for footballing reasons as well as financial. Anyone going to the French league and to PSG isn't going for any other reason than money. May as well be playing in China with the exception of getting in the CL.
Poch is a former Player so maybe that's a pull?

PSG is a team made of doormats, it has nothing to do with the league or Real Madrid or Barcelona or anything else. They have no backbone.

Ligue 1 is a very good league IMO. I think the problem here is with PSG's focus. They need more discipline, even when facing sides in their league with inferior talent.
For the level of investment, not getting past the quarter finals is exceptionally bad.

Regardless of the money spent I do have a bit of sympathy for PSG. You always need luck to win the CL and drawing Madrid so early after winning the group is a punishment whilst Bayern Munich get Besiktas. Luck in the draws is also key and right now it's about getting past that first obstacle. Madrid broke records to sign Ronaldo, Benzema and Kaka in 2009 but in the first season they were knocked out in the last 16 stage by Lyon. Look at them now. Money won't guarantee immediate success and it takes time to build that experience on the CL stage which is invaluable. They'll get there eventually.

If they'd been put out to Roma, Shakhtar, Porto, Basel or Sevilla perhaps. They lost to Real Madrid. Some people need a bit of perspective.
Paris is overrated, full of rude people and thieves. You wanna see the best of part of France, go to Lyon or Nice.

It doesn't matter who they go out to, the goal for PSG was to win the CL. Yes, losing to Madrid looks better than losing Basel but in the end it's still a major failure.
You have to look at the footballing decision makers above the managers. What is the plan to compete, what type of team do they think can win the CL. Just throwing talent at it is not enough, there has to be some level of discipline in how you play if you are a serious team. Look at Real tonight, big names on the bench, made accommodations for the challenge they expected, not too proud. PSG against Real and no discernible tactical ploy, too many ego's.
Basically this. They spent a lot money on Kylian and Neymar. And definitely those investments were wise choices. But you can't expect to beat the best squad in Europe with two amazing players only.
What are you on about, they have been been buying and failing with top talent for years now.
