PSG | 2017-18 Performance Thread | Tuchel becomes coach on a two-year deal

How much money are they going to spend now after another failure in europe?

Fraud team.

What is about PSG that they attract all these players who seem to lack mental toughness, want the easy life but go missing when it matters.

Even Neymar is a precious little bitch, special treatment fc.

OMG OMG OMG this is great. It means PSG might be so desperate they hire Wenger and we finally get shot of him.

Doesn't matter how much money they spend, French league is about their own level.

Good side, PSG, but maybe missing a bit of star quality. A couple of big signings will see them right.

They are a rich man's Arsenal. Wilt under the first real signs of pressure.

They need some leaders. Neymar is their best player, but not one to lead, more of a solo show-boater. Wouldn't be a bad idea to sign someone like Iniesta next season - at the twilight of his career but can offer them valuable guidance and leadership.

You have to wonder if their total lack of regular competitive games domestically causes them problems in the champions league.

Absolute bullshit.

About what ? The fact that after all this money spent the best they got in CL so fat was QF ? The fact that against every good team they met in KO they crumble and lose ?

This team has been only succeeding in the league so far but got the hype almost every season. Every season some like you hype them to win CL just to get crushed against the very first strong team they meet.

They're desperate to be a success in Europe.

They're not going to hire a guy who is routinely terrible in Europe.

You're stuck with him I'm afraid.

I think we had a good summary of the strengths and weaknesses of PSG compared to the best performing European clubs.

The most overrated side in world football.
Every year they're compared to the best sides in Europe, then we're told we can't judge them because they consistently lose to those same sides.
They can't have it both ways.

I just sent my application.

How is it harsh?

Because regardless of how much money you spend, you can't label your season a success or failure based on your ability to win an extremely volatile competition.

Well I do not think they brought in Neymar and Mbappe to reclaim the Ligue 1 crown. Their whole season was riding on the CL.

I think it's a ridiculously high hurdle. CL trophy or failure?

I do think they expected to go far in the competition. Neymar's injury (and the uselessness of the other players) is an issue.

The irony is that by being part of the dismantling of that great Monaco squad, they were part of the removal of the one regular test they could get at least twice a season outside the CL.

Barca got the deal of a lifetime. Great player but too much hassle.

200mil when things wernt too rosey on the money side of things and his ridiculous wages off the payroll.

Oh come on they play Monaco, Lyon, Marseille not Dunfermline and Inverness.

Hahaha.... PSG can spend what they want and buy all the Brazilians but they will never win this ..

Conte's style of football isn't really what PSG play though no?

Well they need a leader.

People say they need a leader off the pitch. I think they need one off the pitch too. Emery doesn’t have full control of that dressing room. He doesn’t seem the type of coach to inject fear into that dressing room when things aren’t going right. See how he handled the penalty situation poorly.

It's true. Against French teams, the % of possession is around 75% every week while tonight it was 53% at the end of the 1st half.

That games highlights the limits of the "offensive strategy"

they will make a deep CL run at some point unless the arabs lose interest

So their level is the French league? Or maybe they just aren't quite at the level of RM who are the fecking reigning champions and have won something like 3 of the last 4? I thought they were quite harshly done by to be down 3-1 after the first leg then in the second they didn't stand a chance with Neymar being injured.

Who wouldn't want to be the manager of this team, to be honest. Guardiola? They can get what they want.

to be fair, Real were excellent over the two legs, but PSG should be doing better than this with their squad, still.

Well, that's a little bit too much to spend just to win the French league, eh? Especially when Monaco's best players were shared just like an open buffet menu.

What are the chances of Pep going there next season?

Looks like his type of club.

So it's RM only for you ? The previous years They have been knocked by Chelsea, City, Barca and now RM, failing to get anything past QF. If they're not at the level of all these teams then what are their level exactly ? Unlucky to get RM so they go on and lose home and away ?

Until they go on and start challenging for CL and defeating big teams in KO stages then yes so far their only success after all this money spent in all these years was in their crap league.
