PSG | 2017-18 Performance Thread | Tuchel becomes coach on a two-year deal

(Without wanting to take the thread off topic for too long), I don't know too much about Aurier beyond what I've read and a couple of games here and there. What would you say his strengths/ weakness are? Better than Walker etc? From what I remember, he seems basically like an younger Ivorian Walker with a slightly *ahem* more difficult temperament....[/QUOTE]

If fit, I'm a big fan of the player: powerfully strong, offensive, high stamina, decent technical skills. Aurier 2015/16 was one of the top 5 RB in Europe for me.

He has to leave because Dani Alves is coming and PSG has now 3 RB playing Belgium, Brazil & Ivory Coast. Some "scandals" also.

Otherwise, he would have stayed and probably played 50% of the games given the coach's management.

PSG (well Teddy Riner) World Heavyweight Champion a couple days after reopening its judo section. Congrats Teddy!

Good on Cavani if true, ridiculous situation all round though.

PSG really missed Neymar on Saturday.

In the meantime, Birthday of Thiago Silva

When is Neymar's sister's birthday again?

PSG will have to plan accordingly for his absence.

They play in Ligue 1. I'm sure they will manage. They'll probably be 8-10 points ahead of Monaco by then.

First big test for PSG. Looking forward to how they cope with Bayern despite Bayen's poor start to the league campaign.

Is Neymar expected to play or is he still "injured"?

Wasn't it the Swiss that mounted the case against Blatter and co.? Keep it up lads!

Is that his sister as Harley? Such a weird relationship.

Rabiot
"Neymar doesn't think of himself as a star. He is necessarily someone who has some privileges. Kylian does, too. It doesn't bother me and I don't pay it any attention. I'm not jealous of either."

Can't wait to see how they do in the CL. Lets face it, there is absolutely no competition for them in Ligue 1.

Big advantage to them, they can basically rest their starting XI before a CL game if they wanted and still win Ligue 1.

I agree. Same with City as they have no competition either atm. It's unfair that these teams that are 13 points and 10 points ahead in weak leagues get this luxury.

It makes sense to make all the necessary to make your expensive stars happy.

I would have been surprised to read the contrary.

Who do you reckon will start in MF?

Honestly think that Di Maria should play on the left hand side of a mf 3. Maybe have Rabiot sit in front of the defence and then just counter similar to Madrid 13/14

Good question! Very unlikely to see Di Maria in central midfield.

The questions marks:

- Kurzawa or Berchiche
- Di Maria or M'bappé
- Lassana Diarra in?
- Are the recently injured Rabiot and Cavani ready?

I will answer in greater detail later!

Rabiot and Verratti are set to start as CM. Then the DM position is between Lo Celso and Diarra as Motta doesn't seem ready.

It's a bit awkward for Di Maria since he's the most in form player stats wise in 2018 not only for PSG but in Europe. A start would be deserved for him in Madrid but who would he replace?

Today's lineup at Toulouse is:
PSG : Areola – Alves, Marquinhos (c), Kimpembe, Yuri B. – Lo Celso, Diarra, Rabiot – Di Maria, Mbappé, Neymar

Berchiche to play it safe defensively as it is away from home. M'Bappé obviously starting over DiMaria. Diarra is a mystery to me

Di Maria was so good against Sochaux, hat trick. It drives me crazy how bad he was for United and as soon as he joined PSG in 2015 he returned to his Madrid form.

Their team looks even more dangerous without Cavani, with Di Maria on the left. First, Di Maria on the left really helps Neymar because he's a lefty and can 'emulate' Messi cutting inside and passing to Neymar. Second, Mbappe looks very good playing on the defender's shoulder, and PSG look even better on the counter. I know Cavani became some sort of a martir, but its my opinion... lets not pretend Cavani hasn't been a donkey in the past years in the decisive knockout games.

@Damien :)

The funny thing is he plays for the USA. He can play on the wings even if he isn't a specialist.

No Cavani at Thiago Silva's birthday party.

Silva is terrible for team morale. Most overrated player, and captain this decade.

Was pretty good in U17 WC. Scored a wonderful hattrick in Pre-quarters as well

So who is going to replace Emery?

I know Neymar is missing. But they been very poor against a Madrid team with nearly their whole midfield missing.

Haven't seen much from them apart from these two games but they don't look very good. And yeah, Emery to be replaced?

Maybe Ancelotti will return. Or they might throw a lot of money at Jose.

Who could PSG realistically get to replace Emery then ?

Sarri if he doesn't win the Serie A with Napoli ? Jardim might be a shout, had Monaco playing some of the best football in Europe before half of there starting 11 were poached
