As much as I'm very excited with the prospect of us signing him, I can't help but feel this should've happened ages ago. I remember Fergie was really keen on him when he was at Udinese and then of course there was the opportunity to get him when he left Barca. Although he's still capable of playing at the top for a few years to come, I would've loved us to have signed him back when he was 24/25.
When he left barca we got di Maria instead who was seen as the better player... World class and just had the season of his life while Sanchez was an unwanted pep reject

Alexis is a outstanding player but I still feel he is massively overrated here among us and already peaked! He is no Neymar or Messi at all!
I reckon he will play in a free role behind Lukaku against the poor teams and against the Top 6 and CL on the right with Pogba in a offensive role with two CM behind him. Satisfied with 20-25 PL goals per season until 2020. After that his level will drop but still its amazing we are signing him and who cares about money!
Yes! I wanted Dybala!

Wow you can predict the future, you should go public with that talent, you could make a fortune mate.

I don't think anyone is having any difficulty grasping that. It's the fact that these journos are ignoring the 150k per week that Miki leaving would free up, inventing a transfer fee, exaggerating the Sanchez wage and sign on fee and generally taking glee in deliberate misinformation.

Di Marzio said yesterday that the entire deal was looking like £100mil. Total.

That would break down as follows:

No transfer fee - straight swap as has largely been reported.
Gross wages of £300k a week.
Signing on fee of £20mil and agent fees of £10mil

That's £22mil per season for a player of that quality. £18mil if you deduct what was left on Mkhitaryans contract.

Fecking bargain.
Yeah, I was just going to mention this. Matt Law or whatever, known for his connections to Chelsea, calls the salary as 14m (270k/wk) and claims it is net. The English media have been running with that for 2 days, and the gross figure of 500K/week.

DiMarzio, with such a great reputation on transfers (including this specific transfer) says 300k/wk GROSS and the English media fecking ignores it completely.

Ok Nostradamus, what exact time will the Sanchez announcement be on twitter?

Genuine question. Don't BBC only report stuff when they are almost certain? Who is leaking that info? People drawing up the contract have to be pretty high up on the chain and wont be talking to him. Sanchez's agent wouldnt ..

No, like most they may get the odd intentional "leak" from players or representatives or even a family member letting something slip. They only get involved late on when its obvious and they seem to have gotten a mythical reputation because of that. Also, they are absolutely not privy to the details of the deal which goes for everyone except for the individuals involved(and even they won't know until a deal is struck because they will go back and forth with offer and counteroffer).

Because he can longer get consistent game time whilst not making any notable improvement as a player?

I’d love Rashford to make it but at the moment he is playing regularly and not matching it with the performances. Competition from one of the worlds best forwards may do him a bit of good.

Not to mention that Rashford hasn't started that many games from the right anyway, and was more competing with Martial anyway.

Any true top player has the mentality that they're delighted competition increases.

How can you not be enthused by one of the top 3 players in the league (that we don't already own) coming to your team!

Lots of scouse lovers in here tonight. Is this some intervention to bring them back to the correct path?
I just wanted us to get closer to City so we can stand a chance to win it. Hopefully they will have some sort of a meltdown and lose more games. I'm not giving up just yet, and this is how I get rewarded! Sniff. Besides I know Livrpool will lose games no one expects them to lose. And I had a bet 7+ goals.

Anyway, is it official yet? My prediction time is getting closer...bye bye Kenwood.. sniff

United should embrace the MASSIVE figures being reported! They are never going to get a bargain being one of the richest clubs in the world.

So let’s enjoy the gloating at the huge lumps of cash we can spend! Not even City’s oil money could compete

An unwanted Pep reject who hadn’t played for Pep for two years at this point?

Sanchez was instantaneously one of the top 5 players in the Premier League.
