Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

In fairness he has never been great for us in our own right. He's incredibly well connected in Italy and was spot on with Pogba and Darmian, but those connections are obviously with the selling team in both cases. When it hasn't involved an Italian side I can't remember him getting anything of substance correct and he got Fabinho wrong in the summer.

If Pep's personal bidet Ballague is saying this is true then I expect it is.

We would obviously not be putting in a bid unless his agent suggested us to do so. Jose probably has a line of communication with the player to sell him on our project over competing with existing attackers at City.

He also didn't have a easy go at Barca with pep.

Perhaps, but I'm not hugely convinced by the journalists who have reported it thus far. If Ducker and his ilk start getting in on the act I might start to think there's something to it.

Remember when Bernardo Silva was traveling to Manchester for a medical and it was widely reported that he was signing for United until he actually completed his medical at City.

Nice one.

The downside of entering a bidding war with City's oil money is that they can throw in a few free yachts to sweeten the deal.

You're underestimating Woodward, with our sponsorship spiderweb network, he can offer a range of Chevvy cars, Adidas gear, tickets to the cinema with 20th century Fox, budget Russian plane tickets, a case of mid range red wine (Casillero De Diablo), subscription to Deezer, a New Era cap, a tag heuer watch and a lifelong membership to Uber premium. Keep your boats.

Remember that Sanchez played in Italy, as did his agent's other client Vidal, it is very probable that Di Mazrio has good sources on this.

It was the noodles what won it!

This has Lukaku written all over it. In the summer everyone was convinced that Lukaku would move to Chelsea and has an agreement etc etc.

Then BOOM, He joins United. I am starting to believe its the same with Sanchez.

Yes, because we are so shit at the moment, aren't we?

Where did I say that? We're not shit but there's still room for lots of improvement and AS on paper looks to be one that can help us with that. FFS he's one of the very best players in the league and has been for years. If that's the bar you set for labelling someone a WUM then I suggest you review that.

I want to get into this one, but sadly it feels like it will end with everyone pointing to City's dominance of literally everything.

I am kind of enjoying the anti-United shitestror going on right now, and will really enjoy the battle back to the top.

I refuse to believe we would make a bid if we did not think we could get him. Maybe City have cooled their interest because of how good they have been this season and thus have a limit on what they can give to Sanchez and Arsenal. Quite a few reporting that we have bid and with Di Mazrio saying we have then that's that.

Just can't see why we would want to put our name next to someone who has been destined for Pep and City since there was talk of him leaving. The media will spin this as Pep getting one up over Mourinho otherwise and that's definitely not what we or the special one wants. Can't help but get excited... fingers crossed.

No, but we usually brief the press if a few of the more reliable journos comes up with a transfer story at the same time.

The only examples I can think of are Griezmann and Pedro and those briefings took place when it was painfully obvious what was going on making them redundant.
We dont really brief the press on our transfer dealings and rightly so

Nah, won't happen.

Though the longer that our club don't deny it, the more I wonder if we're seriously at least trying.

But I think it could be coming from citeh to rub our noses in it, or from Sanchez' team to get better deal from citeh.

But he's been going to Man City since the Summer, I just do not see that changing now.

Exactly. Which is why the club will unofficially tell some of the journalists to come out and say that we aren’t in for him any minute now surely?

Or maybe not....?
If united had to comment everytime a player is linked to us we would need a separate department for it. Malcom.Ozil,Lucas, jorginho,Fabinho all need explanations then dont they?

Like others are saying, I doubt we would have entered any negotiations without receiving a hint from the agent. Could of course be the agent playing us to hike up the salary, but at least it seems we are in the mix (which we should have been all along). Exciting, although not particularly hopeful. Like I have said in other threads, for any given player I believe Man City looks cooler right now - they enjoy themselves while attacking. Saying that, signing players like Alexis will make us much better and it would make no point to play dull, boring football.

No, agree, we tend to keep quiet instead unless it's face-saving time. But if the club really believe he's dead cert on joining City then I expect the club to brief the press about us not being interested at some point.

I do think if it were to happen it would be an RVP like effect. It would galvanize the squad and give us a significant boost for the rest of the season. We'd be a more attractive prospect in the summer too and it would be a great show of ambition.

That said - He's 29 and incredibly reliant on his dynamism and quickness which is the first thing to slip with age. I'm not sure we wouldn't be looking to replace him in two years time. He'd be an incredible short term upgrade and the contract situation makes it a bargain but if we do miss out then I wouldn't get too upset as there's probably more long term options that we'll be pursuing in the summer. Basically all the red flags I've been convincing myself exist because he was off to City are still a concern.

May as well go in for him though - Would be pretty surreal if it came off. There's not a lot to lose here even if his mind is made up.

A last ditch attempt to pull the rug out from under a transfer to another team is a bit desperate. Otherwise we would have laid the ground work for this long ago. It's not like Sanchez leaving Arsenal in January was a secret.

Now, I'm by no means saying we're signing him... but what part of him still being at Arsenal on the 11th of January proves that City had done the groundwork for a January move? It's desperate for us, but not for them.

I think people are getting ahead of themselves here. It’s by no means certain we have made a bid.

It’s not the same though. First of all the rumours of the players you mentioned aren’t damaging for the clubs reputation if they don’t go through. Second, the rumours for this one is undoubtedly a lot stronger.

Guys

I got him on a free from arsenal and he got world player of the year in his first year and he is on track for a second year in a roll!!

And yes, martial is consigned to the bench for most games...

All in football manager of course.

This is a must buy and surely FM is always right?

I love transfer muppetry silly season :))
Don’t want to upset people and tell them Sanchez isn’t signing for us.

Oooopppsss

Haha

I think it's obvious we want him, regardless of whether we have put a bid in or not.

No, I just can't stand people who constantly do us down at every single opportunity.

Finally some interesting news! If we don’t deny this soon, I assume it’s real.
