David De Gea

Yeah I agre, just have a horrible vision of us letting him go for less than he's worth as he's a goalkeeper. Would be disappointed to get 50m for him. Given what the likes of john stones cost
Hope we demand what's fair. We don't owe Dave anything.

That's not how it works unfortunately. If a player in good standing makes a discrete request for a transfer, the club has little recourse but to sell, especially when De Gea's last transfer was thwarted at the last second by faxgate.

Well that's how it has worked when we buy in the market, we pay through the nose. It's only fair we are professional both in icomming and outgoing matters.

He's gone, as far as I'm concerned lads.

DDG - you legend, you gave us some amazing years and played to your best ability. I personally don't blame you for wanting to leave now, we've proven ourselves to be below your level (DDG is a CL keeper, one of the best worldwide, and shouldn't spend his career finishing 6th in the league, which, if we're all honest here, is where we are fcking at right now)>

Good luck Davey, good lad.

Jeez, we are doomed

I think De Gea would leave if Mourinho decided to start Romero in European Matches.

If he's playing Romero in for Europe then what difference does CL mean to him when he won't be playing.

If Jose guarantees him CL matches I don't think he's that desperate to join them. I think he could take it or leave it. At a massive club and a fan of Atleti.

I was thinking about this earlier and playing and doing it at the 'business end' of the UCL is the only thing stopping De Gea from being universally accepted as the BITW so if he stays we certainly cant be playing Romero in Europe again next season. I suspect Jose knows this though, he knew the opposition we played in the Europa League this season better than any of us and I'm sure felt he could get away with playing Romero, next season if we play Bayern/Real/Barca I doubt he'd even think twice about not playing De Gea

Hypothetically speaking, would any of you swap Bale for De Gea. A straight swap?

I think I would. We could find a solid, decent goalkeeper. Maybe even put Romero in goal. Bale would instantaneously bring us up a level. Just my opinion though.

If Higuaín cost 90m€ being 2 year older then Bale could be in 100/130 even with the issue of his injuries.

I wouldn't. Too risky.

I think Bale has maybe one more season at a level considered as a World Class player, assuming he stays injury free. Once his pace goes, I think he'll decline quickly. Whereas DDG will be a top class player for years and years to come. In 4 years time it'd look like the stupidest deal ever done

I'm thinking at this point that the only way he stays is if he is guaranteed to start in the CL, in which case Romero would be leaving.

Would hate to lose him, best in the world.

Don't agree. Higuain is a guaranteed goalscorer and that comes with a premium. Bale isn't. Also Higuain moved last year, so the age difference will just be one.
No club can risk that kind of money on a player that is likely to miss half the season through muscular problems. Even quarter of the season would be too much.
If Mad are keen on selling (I'm not sure they are) they will have to bring their price down considerably. I reckon €80/85m

Yes, would be sad to see DDG leave but we could get away with having a lesser keeper between the sticks if we just outscored the opposition (and it's not like we'd have a keeper as bad as Bravo in goal either)

So with CL Football next season will De Gea move on?

It doesn't change the situation in the slightest. The moment Real Madrid put in an offer United are prepared to accept, then De Gea goes. It is that simple. Are they prepared to make a big enough offer ? I would suggest probably not. Not much need for glamour signings when you've won La Liga and in CL final, even with a presidential election this summer, though not sure there are other candidates.

We've got a much better chance of keeping him now.

I actually think its irrelevant to our chances. He wants to go home. Nothing to do with us being in the CL or not. If Madrid will pay up, he will leave.

yeah I agree with this....

we are a huge club and will always be there or thereabouts under a decent manager

I think De Geas supposed desire to go home is likely driven by his personal life

I suspect that some of the same people who can't understand why he'd want to move home are the same types who can't fathom how a professional footballer, earning millions of pounds, can be depressed.

This deal can only happen under the condition that Keylor has a bad game in the final, or De Gea forces united to sell him for a reasonable fee, or Morata decides to stay and Flo decides he doesn't need to splash on a forward

According to El Confidencial, Navas' form and our valuation have caused Madrid to back off.
I am still convinced he's likely to stay.
Was the first on the bench off his feet when Pogba scored.
The only thing imo, that can push him out is if we adopt the BS scenario where he only plays league games next season.
I'm convinced we won't do that though.

He'll be back there at some point but the longer we can hang on to him the better.

Yeah, that would be absolutely insane. Having said that the clubs that did that in the past is because it's two keepers of similar quality. Jose said straight up last week Dave is "the best in the World" so I think that's that.

Dave staying will feel like a new signing as it did in 2015 and 2016.

So, what you're saying is United have no say in this? Let's not forget the player is contracted for 3 more years and United doesn't want/have to sell.

If he (hopefully) stays there is no way on earth Jose would leave him out of Champions League matches.

Hope this won't take all summer, one way or the other.

I dont see Perez paying up to £50 m for a goal keeper. The only reason they want De Gea is hes Spanish number 1 GK , that itself would be a very good advertisement .

if he was a WC attacker no doubt they would pay double that price tag.
