PL D FA Premier League

Manchester United 1:1 Liverpool

Post-match discussion

Sun, 15 January 2017

Fekin shame. It seems that our games tend to get defined by individual mistakes. Blind vs. City, DDG vs. Stoke, Fellaini vs. Everton, Blind/Smalling vs. Chelsea, Pogba vs. Liverpool etc.

The bit that's really disappointing is the fact that we seem unable to get the ball across without hoofing it long.

Oh well we got a point on City and we slowed down Liverpool in their title wishing run.

GGMU!

1 point more than we deserved not too bad I suppose considering we were as good as a man down the whole game.

Point gained but it's a poor point. Liverpooo with that defence were there for the taking today. Inexcusable that we only really tested them when Fellaini came on. Rooney played 45mins and looked like he was running through custard, Pogba was wank all game and after City got battered, I am fecked off with that sort of performance.

We had chances earlier. Just didnt take them.

Bad result all things considered.

Liverpools best player was Pogba. Liverpool were there for the taking and we couldn't do anything.

Not really. Had nothing to work on and that he got he did it very fine. But keep hating him.

Keep hating him? WTF is this stupdidity? I have praised him nearly constantly since he got here, get back in your fanboy worshipping cage.

Really poor, had enough chances to utterly bury them but as usual zlatan is the only one taking his chances.
Loads of really poor decisions, play, passes.

We've put ourselves in a position where we really need to beat these guys to get top 4 because none of them are going to drop points outside of these matches.
Our perfomances against the top 4 have been pretty crap this season - really disappointing.

Poor game. Lots to pick apart but a few things stand out.

Too little pace in the team among the players Mourinho trusts.

Too few players who relished the big occasion. They seemed overawed. People will point to Pogba, fairly, but almost everyone in the team underperformed.

Pressing makes for a shit game to watch, but we have to deal with that. We seem very susceptible to pressing so need a plan to counter or bypass it.

Liverpool were poor. They ain't winning the league this year. But that makes our showing even more disappointing.

Still, could have been worse.

Liverpool field a very weak team
We put on a strong starting 11
We play shit
Pogbas worst game so far
Rooney does what he's been remembered for the last years, play shit and have the worst first touch in the league
Besides the goal, Ibra was invisible
As ususal, a mediocre goalie have the game of his life vs us

I can go on forever... not a single positive thing to take from this bowl of shit that was served :(

We should be happier than Liverpool. They should have taken 3 points from this.

Mourinho stopped us from winning this. Leaving the worst player on the pitch on, putting a has been on who would arguably play even worse (rooney), taking a guy off who was involved in two or three of the great chances created, all momentum was gone from our play and we were reduced to playing opportunistic crap with 20 mins to go.

Mourinho gambled on emotion throwing Rooney on, and it did not pay off. His typical self - poor control and turning over posession.

Fair result. Now we push on for four completely winnable league fixtures leading up to the City game.

We were lucky to get a point! Played terribly and subs were poor, bar fellaini.

I don't think we were lucky, we created the bulk of the chances and deserved a draw. Liverpool relied heavily on counter attacks and Mignolet was impressive for them

Relieved at the end. Either side could have scored a second goal. Don't think the performance will effect our momentum in any way and we're still in the hunt for top four.

Hard to swallow but top 4 still very on target and therefore no need overreacting.

I'll take that all day long. Was expecting a loss, we didn't play well. I dont think any team did.

I was expecting us to drop to 5th with me expecting City to win when in fact we've gained a point.

Herrera. Oh my god. So glad Firmino got a hit in. Shirt pulling knob head. Then he acts like "oh why did you hit me?" Why do you think you muppet?
Yeah Herrera is the absolute worst, whiney little cheating cnut.

I'd love him if he played for us, though. You need those players in your side, sometimes we miss guys with his attitude.

Rashford should have on instead of Rooney for Carrick or Mata for Martial.

While I'd take a draw, I thought a win was on the cards. Pulsating. Fair result.

Good to move a point away from City.

Strange, strange performance.

A lack of composure on our part and a job done by Klopp re tactics.

We needed to have started quicker.

Need some options in CM for when we play a team parking the bus and pogba can't do anything. Schneiderlin actually might have been good haha.

Defence needs more settling too, altho dariam i thought was very good, his crossing on the left foot is better than the right..

Dire.

Rooney and Pogba had two of the worst Utd performances I've witnessed.

Pogba was bad...yes.
But Rooney was his normal bad self. What you saw today is about what I expect from Rooney every game.
And it was very annoying reading posts, "Rooney for the winner", etc. The guy has scored 1 league goal all season....what are people (and Jose) seeing which make them believe that Rooney is the man to unlock defences? Am I missing something? Is there is a secret league which I am not aware of, where Rooney is the top goal scorer?

Anyway, it was a draw and our players just did not turn up today, so we need to move on to our next game and aim to get all 3 points.

Did no-one here enjoy that?

Cracking game of football, mistakes a plenty by both sides due to the intensity.

Miserable sods most of you.

Was absolutely terrific. Cant remember a better one in recent times.

End to end stuff in the last 10-15 minutes.

Mourinho has officially dispelled all notions that he is a defensive manager. It was a page straight out of SAF's book. Except we should have thrown on Rashford instead of Fellaini.

Awful from Pogba. Zlatan is god. Not worried about it though, he will learn from that.

Liverpool are the main beneficiaries from that point. We lost two points today. A bit consolation in closing in one point closer on City though.

Some of our players did let us down today - Ander , Pogba and Carrick were not they had to be.

Loved the passion in Antonio , Zlatan and Mikhi was everywhere also

Good result

That was the worst we've played in ages, against a title/top4 rival. A draw's not too bad considering.

Typical big game performance from Pogba. Fortunately the league can be won elsewise, but we'll never win a Champions League with that joker in the centre of our team

Liverpool's gonna lose points and players after this match and in the 2 coming weeks. They give too much. Their players ran like madmen tonight. And they have 3 games in a week as of Wednesday.

Shite mach, Pool dominated we were lucky to get the draw...shite subs....we should of won that match easily with the chances we had....Pogba needs to step up in these big matches...my main problem with him is he plays soooo slow....it kills us when teams apply pressure the way Pool did...he needs quicker feet......and as much as I love Ibra..we need a pacey forward who can score...there are been a few times this season where Ibras lack of speed has cost us like today in the first half.

A 1:1 flatters Liverpool and really puts to bed the argument that their midfield, or specifically Henderson is a better midfield player than any of our players. Whilst we did not win it does not dent our hopes for the top 4, in fact I am more confident that we will get top 4.

Don't forget Liverpool won away to Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City, yet they drew with us and we pinned them back most of the time. Poor finishing again let us down. I'm disappointed that we lost two points today, but I am positive that we are still unbeaten and look like a side that really mean business.

We were rattled in the first half with some terrible individual performances and mistakes but missing chances has cost us again. Can't be missing multiple 1v1s and half open goals and expect to win. Wasn't really expecting that performance but at least we got a point
