He was decent yesterday, but nothing special. I expect him to tear the Bundesliga apart playing for Bayern in a dominating position with being build like a tank. I understand some get all giddy, he is young and talented, but lets not go over the top. 80m Euros are not peanuts money.

Was decent yesterday but having an engine like he does, he could develop into a Kante type player easily and that's a huge asset to everyone. Not the best technically, or the most consistent at least, but I think he will do alright there. Would've been more difficult in the prem if he came here as there are more players like him then in the Bundesliga, ans plus Bayern being a dominant team, its set up well for him to develop.

An Essien/Davids type maybe, but it's not easy at all to develop the ball-stealing ability Kanté has.

Disagree. Renato should have Yaya Toure role for City as his development route. He shouldn't be wasted with all action defensive work. He should develop his tactical discipline and learned to sniff chances to use his best asset: his bursting run through the middle. Using this weapon correctly, Renato can help, his team to push back the other team as they would psychological afraid of Renato and less likely to commit more men forward and try dominate Sanches' team. So suddenly Renato Sanchez team was out off some pressure in the back.

He needs to win the Ballon D'Or to cost us that much

The most important aspect is Bayern being a team of technically and tactically apt players. He can learn from Alonso, Vidal and Thiago. This should help him to maximize his potential.

Well after all I've read he merely must be among the last three of any Ballon D'Or before 2021 but yeah it's rather unlikely. On the other hand those 25m euros addons (which would raise the transfer fee to around 60m euroes) for playing 125 games for the club are quite likely to happen within the next 3 years unless he fails completely.

How exactly do those add ons work? Because 125 in 3 seasons is quite a lot when the maximum per year is 53(34 League matches + 6 Cup matches + 13 CL matches).

5 seasons IIRC. So 25 games per season.

I don't see him getting close to the Ballon D'Or. Smart move from Bayern as when was the last time a player of his type got close to the award?
The clause is into World Best XI. Another clause is making into World Best nominee (top 3 players). No info on how exactly this 20mil is divided between this 2 clauses, but there you go. It's still easy to increase over 60mil mark. As his style is easy on the eye and well appreciated, if he develop well as his current promise shows, it's not far off to make into World Best XI.

If he makes it into the World Best XI, he'll have been among the 3 best midfielders in the world. Not sure how easy that is, but if it happens, it'll be an investment worthwhile.

I think he might struggle a bit in the first season. He looks best when he attacks the open space, in the Bundesliga he will face very defensive minded teams and he has to play in a position with a lot of touches. I´m curious to see how he can adapt to this style of play. He might play a sort of vidal role and will need a controlling cm next to him like xabi or thiago. But still lots of potential and the different style of play will hopefully help him develop into a more complete player.

Like Ti Vu stated, according to media Sanches must accomplish those "stretch goals" within 5 years to raise the transfer fee. Those 3 years I mentioned were more like an optimistic guess based on Thiago who made it to 80 matches in his first three seasons with Bayern even with that horrible injury that took him out for almost one year.

I really enjoyed watching him play yesterday.

Obviously wasn't the easiest of the games, but i thought he was really composed whenever he got the ball.

Portugal players in general looked quite amateur, given the ball away really easy when France was pressing and closing them down, but i don't think i saw Sanches gave away the ball away cheaply in those situations.

Still raw, but i can see why the hype.

It's the age obsession of this forum. Because he's 18 and all.. I feel like this whole age obsessions has come in the generation that saw Messi, Rooney, Ronaldo and Fabregas. Warped people's views.
So sad about Robben beeing so injury prone. He surely should be mentioned in this though but he's getting forgotten.

Everytime i think about a EURO/WC with a lot of world class breakthroughs, i always think about the EURO 2004 with Robben, Rooney and Ronaldo.

His performances in this tournament have only reaffirmed my assessment of him, he'll be a decent to good-ish player at best.

Can you give an example? Who is a decent to good-ish player in your book?

How could anyone believe he is 18?

Just look at him FFS, he looks 28.

He is a good player but people expecting him to improve like a normal 18 year old player are deluded, he is at his physical peak now.
No he does not. Looks more 18 than 28.

Not a lot of 18 year olds in any starting line ups at the Euro 2016 to compare him to. I agree, he's far from a finished product and wouldn't be impressive for someone aged 25 but he's still a kid and holding his own on the big stage...

Did i really just read that United have enquired about the release clause for Sanchez?
Daily record / Daily star, i think it was.
Not fantastic sources, but still.

If so, it would be even more silly than buying Fellaini for more than the clause cause they were slow :)

Physically he's incredible for his age, but other than that I don't see anything exceptional about him. He had a good game against Poland, but he was rather poor the rest of the times he's played.

Without having seen very much of any of them, i think TFM has pretty much the same potential.
They're the same age too, aren't they?

Do you guys think we would have bought Pogba even if we had signed Sanchez?
Pogba is much better, if I knew there was any chance at all that Pogba was a possibility (which I didn't a few months ago tbf) I wouldn't have been as fussed for missing out on Sanches.

Agree but that's not my question. I just think we would have tried to sign Pogba even if we had got Sanchez. It would not have been a question of either or. One is for the future and the other is for immediate impact. Want to know if others feel the same?

Sanchez and Pogba could've been an unbelievable midfield for the next 10 years but given both price tags it would've been a huge risk paying over the odds for both so it was the right decision to focus on Pogba from Uniteds perspective (if they ever made that decision obviously, I think Bayern simply snatched him away).

Yup Sanches chose Bayern over us, it's becoming clear as hell. Both of the deals are huge risks.

Won the Golden Boy award 2016 apparently.

A bit nonsense if you ask me, especially since there's a much more deserving nominee even in our own squad with Coman. Still, we'll take it :)
