I'm laughing for 5 minutes here. FFS :lol:

He wants 30 mil for DDG and he wants Ramos to come to us.
He's not embarrassing himself, quite the contrary.

and that 'players who wanna join us' stuff is tiresome.

Don't brush my statement off just because it's generally being used too often. Maybe I should word it differently so you understand the point: Ramos doesn't wanna leave Real Madrid, but demands a significant pay raise. In order to reach his goal, he's gonna pressure them by threatening to join a club which could afford his salary demands, which happens to be us. At the end of the day, if Real isn't completely moronic, they'll just raise his salary enough to keep him happy. The only way we could get Ramos is if Perez decides he is ready to move on from him.

Did you say the same thing last year with Di Maria saying he didnt felt respected?

No I didn't.

EDIT: As I said, the only way I can see Ramos leaving is if Real doesn't match his wage demands or at least comes close enough to keep him happy and I just don't see them being greedy with Ramos. He's one of the world's best defenders, Spanish and a club icon, they'll keep him. It's just a power struggle in my eyes and we're being used as leverage.

I agree with you. There is a slight chance they won't match his wage demands and we will pay him a lot more, but what you said is the most likely scenario. He seems to be a fan favourite. I think it's possible, but very unlikely to happen.

It would be really funny if after this window we end up keeping De Gea cos Madrid tried to lowball us (even if we lose him on a free next year) and end up unsettling Ramos to the point he wants to leave (and does).

But wasn't that the exact same scenario with Di Maria at the time? If anything Di Maria was even more valuable for their decenima team then Ramos.

Di Maria leaving was more obvious. They tried to move him the summer of 2013 but, he begged to stay and Ronaldo lobbied for him to stay. When Ozil's contract negotiation hit a snag Ozil was sold and Di Maria stayed. Once James was bought Di Maria became the obvious causality.

You really think stones would be a better buy for us than Otamendi?
Does he have the experience to lead a backline?

I think Stones would be a better buy than Otamendi. And Jones and Smalling have been here long enough for one of them to step up as a leader. Terry was 24 when he became Chelsea's captain.

Perez wont give him what he wants for the same reason Ramos wants the renewal - Its his last big contract. This is the optimum moment for Madrid to cash out him.

I may be wrong on this, but I thought there had been rumblings behind the scenes for well over a year that Ramos (and others) were having serious problems with the leadership of the club, almost like some power struggle taking place. If that's the case then this could actually be the end of a long running behind the scenes feud that's been going for a while, which could see RM powers that be wanting to get rid of one of their major protagonists.

I think its not that simple. Madrid based media and journalists have started spreading lies about him and started to smear him, portraying him like a money grabber, similar things have happened with ADM, Ozil, Sneijder and Robben. Some bridges are already burned and there are speculations he already asked to leave. Sure in the end of the day they could offer him what he wants but him leaving Madrid isnt entirely impossible at this point. On the contrary..

So who is the obvious causality according to you if Man United hardballs on DDG forcing a trade?

Great article from Sid Lowe about Ramos' situation and Madrid's way of doing things.

i think the author still have a side to stand to prevent him from being faithfully objective in the incidence.

ramos is very furious of how bale is being treated by the real hierarchy, both in terms of footballing and financial. fairly speaking bale would only worth half the money it cost when he first joined their club. because of his "strategic value" perez has granted him some status he has not earned for himself.

ramos maybe smart enough not to challenge the situation directly, but i can see this is still really difficult for him to completely put it aside. unfair treatment is a usual factor that can induce a egoistic player to make some bald decision.

whether if he eventually stays or leaves my judgement is 50/50. not someone tried to paint it out that he's completely using united for a power play. we may contribute some (and we are very happy to provide him ammunition to blow the hell real out, do we?) for it, but definitely not all

AS say we've upped our bid to €60m (£42m) http://futbol.as.com/futbol/2015/06/27/primera/1435362290_655815.html

Translation is a bit wonky. It might be that we plan to bid, rather than have already. Any Spanish speakers about?
They write that Woodward is a financial master. If Madrid increases the price for Sergio they will do the same with David.United doesnt want to mix this transfer with the one of David and Ramos doesnt want to be involved in a swap either. They didn't make the 60m offer yet but they will
