To be honest I'm inclined to agree on all of this. Just feel they're having our pants down here.

Possibly yes. I think it's at the stage now though where there's no way in the world we'll sell them De Gea this summer if we don't get Ramos. Only a minor inconvenience for them I guess in that they'll just sign him on a free in a year, but still something that might work in our favour.

I think this all started with them offering a stupid amount for De Gea. Because we were heavily linked with Otamendi, they bid for De Gea and all of a sudden Woody decided that he's not having that. I think it will end with them paying a good fee for De Gea and us signing Otamendi.

I don't know about that, I think these will be be two separate deals. I think we've quoted £33m for De Gea just to try and get somewhere near the mid twenties for him. I'll only be sure Ramos isn't just going for a new contract when he actually leaves.

We should just get Woody and Perez to fight it out and the winner keeps both players. We'd definitely win, Woody would be preparing bids for some martial arts training as soon as it was announced.

Would be a job well done considering the circumstances.

I can certainly see where you're coming from and on Ramos, I absolutely agree. But I just think that it's escalated to a point now where if we miss out on him and then go and sell them De Gea, even for £25m, it doesn't look great on us and I don't think we're prepared to accept that. For that reason, I'm beginning to think the De Gea move won't happen if we don't get a player out of them, even in the scenario of two separate deals.

Hope you're right. Really do but I think we'd take £25m for De Gea regardless. One thing I will say is I don't want him here if he doesn't want to be here and we can bring in someone else.

Maybe we've stoked up our interest in Madrid players and now specifically Ramos purely to give Madrid the motivation to maybe pay more and be seen to get one over on us, also on the off chance we might actually be able to sign one - doubt it but just a theory.

This. I don't think we really want Ramos and I dont think he really wants to come to us, but this is a way to add value to the De Gae inevitable deal, and then we take Otamendi. Real wont buy Otamendi if they've promised Ramos the world to stay with Verane and Pepe still there.

£40m we be over paying but I don't care.. After all David fecking Luiz was sold for £50m at the age of 26/27 and he's not even half the player Ramos is.

Both players are massively overpriced due to how poor the current generation of centre backs is.

It's an astonishingly bad time to be shopping in that position.

He's status as well is driving up the price, Ramos is probably the biggest CB name in the world (arguably not the best).

There are more clubs than just United and Real. City, for example, desperately need a CB.

I don't think we're really being used here, i don't even think alves used us either, it's simply players wanting to keep their options open. Alves was open about wanting a new contract but wasn't given one, so he decided to leave, when the contract he wanted was offered he decided to stay, nothing manipulative about that imo, it was the same for di maria and it's the same for ramos now, and i'm sure we're going into this knowing that it all depends on real refusing to give him what he wants.

This. Think Ramos will be a huge mistake imo.He is so hot headed it's unreal, he won't be getting away with murder in the PL

If anything, he would be getting away with murder in EPL. After all, murder in la liga doesn't even get called in EPL.

But it's irrelevant, just like this whole topic. Ramos is doing a Rooney to get the contract he wants, and As is milking it because of their agenda against Perez.

Kind of ironic thing to say when you have Rooney as your captain and before that Roy Keanre XD

still think this isn't happening...

Ramos is looking for his last big contract and he and Madrid will agree eventually

I'd not be relying on him signing if I was Woody
I think Ramos want a huge last contract like you say, but I don't think he minds where that is.

I like how we are taking players off madrid these days. First Di Maria and now maybe Ramos. Enough of the days when it was one way all the time.
Ramos would be different as they wanted to sell Di Maria, I don't get the impression they want to lose Ramos.

He would make a massive impact on the entire team.

Him and Schweinsteiger are experienced champions.

I hope we get both.

Clearly it hinges on whether Real bow to his hefty demands. It will be interesting to see if they do.

I'm sure he would be very excited by the chance to play in the the PL with united...

He told AS: 'I'm not going to talk about controversial issues and certainly not that incident.

'The only thing I will say is that, with every passing day, I prefer the English Premier League.

'What am I talking about? Obviously not about the ball-boys... the style of play, refereeing.

'People enjoy watching that competition. When one loses, it's easy to focus on the refereeing decisions.'

From back in Jan

Aging player approaching the end of his contract and seems to want to leave. Offer them 25 million tops and they can accept that or lose him on a free to Barca eventually. To hell with Madrid at this stage, they offer us peanuts for one of the best keepers in the World who is young too, then there's no way we should overspend on Ramos. There are other options out there and younger ones at that too.

I wouldn't be surprised if we have been tapping him up for a long time.

I can't comment on Otamendi because I have never seen him play, I've heard a lot of good things about him though from Last Liga watchers. If Woody gets 25-30m for Ddg considering his contract and the fact that he wants to leave then yes it would be good business.

TBH, if we wind up with Memphis, Otamendi, and Schneiderlin, I'll be a happy camper

Add another CM to that and it would be perfect. Someone who can pass the ball.

Hmm depends tough i wonder how a midfield of Schneiderlin/Schweinsteiger/Herrera would work.

Guess:

Schweinsteiger - Herrera

Schneiderlin
But that would be very passive/control, although LvG wouldn't mind that.

I like raf, but his injury record makes him undependable.
We need a new RB, Valencia is decent but shouldn't be starting for us.

Perhaps - depends if Van Gaal agrees or not. If the speculation about players is correct, RB doesn't seem a top priority at this point.
