Television Game of Thrones TV Series | Season 2 | NO book talk!!

The feck has this thread turned in to? I think I'll stay out of it til next season starts. I'm also going to read the books.

You'll definitely want to avoid this thread if you read the books.

Why? I reckon I could seperate the two and avoid spoiling things.

I did. I read book two before and during the season, so I knew what was happening and I am sure I hadn't given away any spoilers.

(I'm into the third book now)

Mods, ban him! I didn't know there was a third book...now my fun has been spoiled! :nono:

Thought this was a no book thread? :p

What about those poor souls who have only read book one and want to discuss it? Or people who have only read the books and don't want to tiny changes made in the TV show spoiled for them?

We should have a GoT forum for all these different permutations.

What I never understood about the first season is the Dothraki (sp?) were supposed to be this honourable warrior people and yet they reneged on the deal they made originally to get the throne for the dragon born prince. Surely if there was any doubt that they'd carry out their end of the bargain he would never have sold his sister to them?

I don't understand? The Dothrakhi agreed to help Viserys purely on the condition that Daenerys would marry Khal Drogo. There was no 'end of the bargain' before that happened. They were never just going to help him go and reclaim Westeros for no reason at all.

The Dothrakhi are honorable but they're also very ruthless and have customs, and are a very barbaric race. When Drogo fell off his horse it was a sign of weakness on his behalf and thus most of them abandoned him because they felt he was no longer a fit leader for them.

But they didn't help him, they killed him. Viserys lived up to his end of the bargain.

They killed him because he was a total cnut to them and his own sister, who their leader was married to. Like I said, they're ruthless.

I deleted one of your posts that gave definitive answers to something that had only been vaguely hinted at in the tv show. It gave me unwelcome extra information that I didn't want. And you didn't even put it in spoiler tags.

My mum got me A Game Of Thrones and my sister got me A Clash Of Kings for my birthday. Sister did it right, my mum got me one with Sean Bean on the front though. I had to ask her to change it for one with a different cover but they both think I'm mental now.

What? When was this...? What did I say?

Didn't realise I had been that careless, though I was ahead with the TV show in comparison to where I was in the book at times.

Book reader here - not going to spoil anything, but I'm interested if any of you are content to just watch the tv progs or are you interested in reading them after watching the first two series? I'll say to the guy above that at c.£7 per book, I thought it was well worth doing so, and I'm not much of a reader of fiction

The main reason I don't want to read the books is that this is by far the best thing on TV and I'd rather be kept on my toes as opposed to watching fully knowing the outcome of everything. I might read them when the series are over and done with though.

This. A thousand times this! I've read the first two in less than a week and am on the third now but I dare not go into the book thread - some real savages in there!

The TV series is great but it's really not as good as the books, mainly because it only has 10 episodes to cram a ridiculous amount of material into it

There have also been (not a spoiler, but it does mention the books)

quite a few deviations in the TV show in the second series

I've read the books twice over and I still love the TV show. Hasn't hindered my enjoyment of it at all.

I'm almost done with the first book, kind of makes me wish I had read it before watching the TV show. Must have been a great thrill for fans of the book to see all this come to life.

Where to get the books if you cannot buy them (you know what I mean ) ?

If you're going to get the ebooks, make sure you get the audiobooks as well. I don't know who narrates it but it's some of the finest voice acting I've ever come across.

buy the books you cheapskate

 A bit rich coming from you, good sir. Ahem Gary Neville autobiography ahem.

I'll be starting the first book today. Adios til season 3.
