Television Game of Thrones TV Series | Season 2 | NO book talk!!

I'm sick of deleting posts. Surely it isn't that difficult not to discuss (or mention) the books in a thread with "No Book Talk" in the title even if you have been living under a rock and have missed the spoiler policy changes?

I thought maybe that was it, but then everyone else on the list was still alive, I think, at least when you wrote it, so I thought maybe he was someone small I missed.

I'm definitely looking forward to some serious sword fights when some of these best fighters hopefully match up!

Me too. I would like to see Ser Barristan in fight - Ned talked about him with such an admiration - and when Cersei relieved him of duty I thought that in season two he will go with Robb, or Renley or Staniss and finally we'll see how good he is (although he is an old man). But for some reasons it looks that his role ended with those Cersei words.

Also with Jamie Lannister now almost free we can see him doing some badass things again

Wibble, stop mentioning the books.

Jeez.

I was surprised by the size of the book in this scene

So, guess who's made the last post in the GoT book thread...

George W. Bush’s decapitated head appeared on Game of Thrones

There's one hell of a dragon egg hidden in Game of Thrones season one. Turns out one of the many heads on a spike decorating King's Landing belonged to ex-president George Bush.

If you keep your eyes peeled when King Joffrey takes Sansa Stark to gaze upon the spiked head of her dead father around 12 minutes in, you'll notice that one of the heads looks slightly familiar. Show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss explained in their DVD commentary (from Season 1, episode 10) that the decapitated head is actually George Bush.

"The last head on the left is George Bush. George Bush's head appears in a couple of beheading scenes. It's not a choice, it's not a political statement. We just had to use whatever head we had around."

Update: We received a statement from HBO:

We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste. We made this clear to the executive producers of the series who apologized immediately for this inadvertent careless mistake. We are sorry this happened and will have it removed from any future DVD production.

And the producers, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, also issued a statement:

What happened was this: we use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show: heads, arms, etc. We can't afford to have these all made from scratch, especially in scenes where we need a lot of them, so we rent them in bulk. After the scene was already shot, someone pointed out that one of the heads looked like George W. Bush.

In the DVD commentary, we mentioned this, though we should not have. We meant no disrespect to the former President and apologize if anything we said or did suggested otherwise.

So, guess who's made the last post in the GoT book thread...

So read what I said there, I was just start reading the second book. So, I don't know anything more than anyone who has watched the show.

HBO have pulled the episode with George W. Bush's head on a spike from NetFlix, iTunes and their own service.

I assume they're planning on using CGI to change the head and then reissue the episode.

So those copies of the series that still have the original head might become collector's items!

Are HBO shows available on Netflix and iTunes outside of the US?

I doubt it. I'm surprised season 2 is on netflix there. HBO are unbelievably anal about their TV shows. GoT was the most illegally downloaded show in the world this and last year and it's partly because HBO refuse to let anyone watch it unless they sign up for the full subscription service over there which costs $70 or something. They should at least have a system in place where people can pay a dollar or two to watch episodes online when they're out.

One of the only shows I've bothered to get an 'HD' copy of, but even that is compressed from full DVD version, for which I don't think there is a torrent. I'll probably buy the real thing eventually here, the series is worth it.

I'd think they're selling a fair few DVDs of each season, would be cheaper than the 70$ subscription cost, though of course you would get a lot more with an HBO subscription, if that sort of thing interests you.

Season 1 is on sale on Amazon for $36, down from $60. Season 2 is on pre-order for $53, also originally $60.

The HD is compressd from the DVD?

Presume you mean from the Bluray

And yeah, HBO overcharged their DVD/Bluray prices too, considering it's only 10 episodes. Their president is a fecking nazi.

Oh right. For a second I thought you meant Netflix streaming. No wonder that didn't make sense to me.

Well, I think the articles were talking about both Netflix mail service and their streaming service. Why does that not make sense?

I looked it up again and HBO Go and iTunes was mentioned in the article I found but not Netflix.

I ain't going in there. You crazy!

I repeat it and you can go there if you want proof that during that time I made that post I was reading the second book, and I was just making a question regarding the book. Still I couldn't know anything that wasn't on the TV show. Today I'm going to start the third book, and of course I am not going to speculate anything here, cause from the moment I start reading it all speculations wouldn't be anymore only speculations.

I can confirm this. Lay off him.

Just watching an old film called The Parole Officer and it has the actors that play Cersei Lannister and Stannis Baratheon in it. I know it's random and has nothing to do with G.O.T but I had to tell someone because I was shocked and amused.

I've seen a couple movies with Davos Seaworth (The Onion Knight) in it lately. One being The Wind that Shakes the Barley, which was quite a good movie, the other being Harry Brown. Harry Brown also had Jorah Mormont in it.

There was an ill fated series called 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' that had Lena Headey [Cersei Lannister] as Sarah Connor, and thankfully as a brunette where she looks much more attractive. The first season was fairly good, the second took a left turn at Albuquerque and was just decent by the end. It ends of a cliffhanger for a season 3 that never comes.

Watched a few more episodes of this today.

I think the attempted gang-rape of Sansa was going a bit too far. Fair enough if they want to do all sorts with adult characters, but seeing that happen with a child character was just wrong, I actually had to look away.

Think that was the point, even the hound didn't think it was on and he has a fairly loose moral framework by all accounts.

I figured she was 18 and just looked young, Hollywood usually cast teenagers with young adults...I figured wrong. :nervous:

She's 16 now, was 15 last spring when shooting season 2 and 14 in season 1, if I'm not mistaken.
