Zlatan hints at Inter exit
Soccernet

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has refused to commit his future to Inter Milan and has hinted he may have achieved all he can at the San Siro after helping Jose Mourinho's men to a fourth consecutive Serie A title.

He also finished as the Italian top flight's top scorer, with 25 goals, and reflecting on the campaign, suggested that it could be his last for the Nerazzurri.

"It's good to end this way, it couldn't have gone any better," Ibrahimovic told Sky Italia following Inter's 4-3 victory over Atalanta on the final day of the 2008-09 campaign.

"I have won everything in Italy. When I arrived here many criticised me, saying I was a fantastic player, but I couldn't score goals.

"Now I have won the Capocannoniere (top scorer) title and proved myself. I could not have done any better than this. I have won five Scudetti (league titles), the Super Cup, I'm missing the Coppa Italia, but that's okay.

"I don't know what else I can still do in Italy, other than keep going and build a collection."

Ibrahimovic has been strongly linked with a move to Spain in recent weeks. Barcelona and Real Madrid are both believed to be keen on him, and the player did little to quell the speculation that he might leave.

"We'll see. Now there are two internationals with Sweden and then we'll wait and see what happens. The future? I don't know. If something is going to happen, it will be after this match. We will see, I don't know yet".

You sure it's not an interview with Ronaldo? ;)

I'm sure his transfer will end up being unnecessarily elaborate, achieving the same result as any old transfer in the end.

UK's new higher tax rate at 50 percent will have a major impact on the Premier leagues ability to attract to stars. Spain has the lowest of the top leagues which I think is presently 25 percent.

Will it? How is the pound's strength against the euro? Won't the clubs just end up paying higher salaries and pass the cost onto the fans?

Thats going to be a kick at the teeth at every EPL club. Player may end up leaving because of this.

On the other hand there seem to be a walk around it.

I don't know whether it is feasable of not though.

I Believe so Dwayne.

The present high earners are already getting twitchy. I reckon United's biggest battle with stars such as Tevez and Ronaldo is keeping take home pay on par with their Spanish counterparts.

Prices have already announced. In United's case the rise is on average one pound a game. We'll just have to see have many actually cannot afford to renew for the new season.

It seems similar to Canada's experience with the NHL and MLB. We had trouble competing with American teams so now those athletes who play for Canadian teams usually agree their contracts in American dollars.

Sultan what do you think about this article?

Inter President Moratti In Barcelona To Sell Ibrahimovic - Spanish Press

Serie A could be about to lose another huge name, as Moratti is engrossed in negotiations with Laporta to sell the Swedish superstar...

Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona over the past month.

The recent comments of both the agent and player himself have prompted the Italian press to speculate that Ibrahimovic is no longer content at the San Siro and a move to the Camp Nou could be on the cards.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti is currently in Barcelona to negotiate the sale of his star striker to the Blaugrana.

The Swedish international was an influential figure in Inter's Scudetto victory and top scorer in Serie A this season with 25 goals to his name.

Any move for the former Ajax star would likely involve a substantial amount of money and possibly Samuel Eto'o moving in the other direction to the San Siro.

In fact, according to tuttomercatoweb, the meeting between Moratti and Barcelona officials is taking place at the Hotel Majestic, where the agent of Eto'o is also present.

The Corriere dello Sport adds that the deal has received the blessing of Jose Mourinho and Inter will receive approximately €30 million plus the Cameroon international. The negotiations will continue into the night, but a successful resolution is expected.

Looks like it is going to happen.

I don't trust El Mundo Deportivo at all. They are Barcelona's Marca. A few weeks ago they said Ribery had signed for Barcelona for some pathetic fee

Main Catalan newspaper Sport and La Gazzetta dello Sport are also running with this.

We will see what happens. Moratti did this with Ronaldo. Kept saying he wasn't for sale but was secretly negotiating

i read somewhere that the Spain is also going to increase its taxation rate.

not sure whether it'll be to a similar level, though.

anyone care to enlighten me?

Money and Eto'o for Ibrahimovic?

Inter are getting the transfer of a life time if it happens. They get a better player, and they get paid for the privilege!!! Mourinho must be beating one out at the prospect as we speak

Don't see Eto'o in Italy mind, and these plus player deals are nearly always tabloid arsecrack

Zlatan's a better player than Etoo. A frontline of Henry, Zlatan and Messi is a frightening prospect.

Matter of definition I guess. He won two at Juventus that were later revoked through no fault of his own. Plus three with Inter.

Those two won with Inter were with an unfair advantage though. You can say it's not his fault, but equally you can say he might not have won them had Moggi not been cheating.

I agree. Eto'o is far more lethal than Zlatan - Zlatan will score the odd fantastic goal, or showcase some unbelievable piece of skill, but if you want someone whose going to be far more clinical and consistently scoring goals, Eto'o is the man you'd want.

Personally, if Ronaldo was to go, I wouldn't mind either of them playing here. Zlatan could benefit from being under Ferguson's guidance, and imagine Eto'o playing with Rooney and Berbatov behind him. Fun times!

Zlatan and Eto'o are both brilliant for their respective teams. So from a pure footballing perspective, a switch doesn't seem to make much sense.

The reason Inter would get "paid for the privilege" is that Eto'o only has a short time left on his contract and may go as a free agent if he isn't sold quickly. Or signs a new contract, which he doesn't seem interested in doing.

Eto'o is considerably better than Zlatan!

Inter would be stupid if they turn down 30 million and Eto'o. Actually both teams might win on this, they both get rid of a unsettled player and get a world class player in return.

Ibra is a much better player then Etoo. Etoo beats him only in pace.

And clinical finishing + Eto'o actually scores in big CL games.

I dont think that he has a better clinical finish.

Ibra is stronger, he is more technically gifted, he is more creative, he is better on crosses + he links with the midfield perfectly. Ibra is what keeps Inter rolling. Its not his fault that (because of that) he is heavily marked throughout all the game. No one marks Etoo so heavily because then they will leave spaces to Henry, Messi and Iniesta to act. The Italians used to say the same about Eric Cantona who failed to make any impact against Italian sides. That doesn't mean that Eric was only good for the EPL.

You have a point but maybe Ibra will end up like Berba at United. A different player type that ruins the flow in Barca's attack. Eto'o won't like the lack of space in Italy though. Still a interesting swap.
