Zlatan Ibrahimovic

"Zlatan doesn't perform in the big games".

Ronaldo rarely does either, yet he's the best player in the world.

Ronaldo is in fact better than Zlatan though, a winger with 41 goals is better than a striker with, how many has he scored this season btw?

Inter have barely had any proper competition in Serie A. They're winning thanks to Milan and Juve having a transition period.

Yes but Where was him against the Dippers?

He looks class sometimes. Luckily for Inter it was today when the title was decided.

Where was the whole Inter team against Liverpool? They could barely string 2 or 3 passes together and there was a lack of service to the front men. Even then Zlatan was able to create clear goal scoring opportunities. He had poor finishing in the second game but at the end of the day, everything was against Inter in both games. The referee sent off an Inter play in each game which was totally undeserved and the team as a whole were dominated throughout.

That said he played well in the Champions League prior to that this season and he scored a wonder goal in the group stages, I can't remember who it was against.

There's no doubt he is better Zlatan, I mean who has been better than Ronaldo this season?

Zlatan has easily been the best striker in Serie A and is up there with the best strikers in the world.

I don't buy this "doesn't turn up in big games" theory. People have criticised plenty of world class players of this, does this mean they are not world class? I don't think so. Ronaldo doesn't look as good when two players are marking him, he didn't look too great against AC Milan away but to suggest he is "overrated" or "shit" would be ridiculous. To deny that either Zlatan or Ronaldo are world class players would be bullshit in my opinion.

You can criticise attitude all you want, you may believe Zlatan is lazy and you may believe Ronaldo should get on with the game instead of complaining when tackled/fouled but in the end this doesn't detract from their overall ability. Regardless of ability they are world class players. Ronaldo has had the best season compared to anyone else in the world. Zlatan is one of the top strikers in world football.

^ I never said he was shit. He's definitely one of the top strikers in the game, I never said otherwise.

His is one of a small number of players with the ability to be named world player of the year.

People see a player play one game in europe a season and decide he is pish. Namely against Liverpool who can make anyone look pish. Saying that he was injured in both games and the team played with 10 men for most of it.

After taking injections to play these games he had to go for surgery and recover in sweden for 6 weeks returning to come on for 35 mins of the most important game of inters season and he scores 2 goals and wins the game for his team.

Titles with Ajax Juve and Inter the guy is a winner and in my opinion you wouldn't want another striker in the world as he is unique. Best player in Italy which tells you a fair amount and just like Ronaldo is linked to Madrid and Barca.

I would love him to go to the Prem just so that fickle fans can see what the fuss is about, Barbatov was unknown by most before he came and now is tipped to join United or Chelsea or Barca or someone for 30mil.

Zlatan is very simelar to Barbatov, difference being he is bigger, stronger, faster and better.

Yeah, pretty much agree with that.

CL
7 games, 6 goals

Serie A
26 games, 17 goals

I thought he scored 5 in the CL, one against Fenerbache, and a brace against PSV and CSKA moscow, all in the group stages and at home in San Siro. Where was the sixth goal?

feck Zlatan. Just read Del Piero finished Seria A top scorer for the first time in his career. feck yeah!

He's fecking mint

Top player

Only an idiot would doubt his class and quality

Zlatan had an awesome season, only his injury struck period made him struggle. He is the main reason inter retained the league, his goals and assists made the difference.

For those of you who have no idea who he is or what he is about and judge him on one game here is some of the things he did this season and this season only.

He has amazing technique, and I enjoy watching compilations of him, like the one above. I'll give the lad that.

It's just that, when I've seen Inter play, I've never been that impressed with his performances. Yes, he produces odd bits of magic, but on the whole, he's disappointed me. Maybe I've unfortunately managed to watch games when he's been poor, I don't know, but from what I've seen with my own eyes, I haven't been massively impressed. And thus, come to the conclusion that he is overrated.

When Inter played Liverpool, most of you were saying hes the most overated player ever and isnt very good. Now you have all changed your minds.

Id have Berbatov over him any day.

Players tend to be rated and viewed differently in certain countries.
Unfortunately for Zlatan when he has played against English opposition he has generally been on the losing side and hasn't showcased his talents to a full extent. However against Spanish opposition he has performed better and been linked on and off with Real Madrid for the past few years.

Cristiano Ronaldo isn't rated as highly as he should be in Italy because of his performances vs Milan. L'equipe headlined with 'Is Rooney a great player?' when United played Lyon because he has supposedly been anonymous against French opposition.Everyone has their own perspective on what they see close to them.

I hope Zlatan leaves Inter this summer and comes to the premier league so he can show everyone in England exactly what he can do on a consistent basis.

You would be foolish and don't for a second think i was one of the people saying he was over-rated. Yeah well of course like any big name he is over-rated but the fact remains he is still one of the best footballers in the world and anyone who can't recognize that should open their eyes to the big wide world of football.

I think Berbatov is a smashing player but before he played in the premiership i can imagine you would have said, "over-rated, does nothing when i've seen him". Fair enough but if you think anyone could get Ibrahimovic at 26 for 10mil you would be hugely mistaken. Why would he constantly be linked with the worlds biggest clubs, be the best player in every team he has played for and cost a hellova lot of money to purchase.

Why can't Inter, Juve, Ajax, Capello, Mancini etc etc see that he is actually shit and over-rated and adds nothing to the teams he wins titles with? I guess these clubs and personel know nothing of the beautiful game.

Talent wise Ibra is as good as Ronaldo, Messi, Kaka and Torres. Stating that he is so inconsistent and his arrogance makes him a bit predictable too.

Agreed, that's how it goes. I'm sure in Italy, they are in no doubt that Zlatan is the business, and may find it hard to imagine why say, we in this country rate Rooney as highly as him. Vice versa in this country, it's probably the other way round, many on here probably wouldn't put him anywhere near Rooney's level.

We are likely to analyse our own game a lot more closely, obviously. Using Rooney as an example again, we are in no doubt that he is quality. But can people not see how in Italy for instance, they may have a different view, similar to what we hold of Ibra? They may look at his goals tally and not be impressed. Even in Europe, he hasn't scored consistently. However, we watch him every game and know his strengths, and even when he' playing poorly, we cite reasons for it that we would never cite for Ibrahimovic. Whether Ibra had a fragmented pre-season, previous injury etc wouldn't be in anyone's mind when watching him in a one-off game.

I reckon that's why on the whole, fans may feel highly rated players from other leagues are overrated, or they may overrate them themselves if they happen to have a blinder in the one game they do watch them.

I've got La Liga following friends who were telling me Ronaldo was the best player in the world when he was 19, Madrid fans and Barca fans wanted him, and on their message boards they made him out to be some sort of super-hero who simply picked the ball up and went through the whole team aand scored near enough every time he got it. We know it wasn't like that.

Ibrahimovic is the most overrated, useless striker I have ever seen.

Which says more about you than it does about him.

Zlatan is absolute class. He`s big, strong, quick, extremely gifted and more than a decent finisher. I do hate the fact that he is a Swede though. And he is still a massive cnut, despite "having changed a bit over the last few years".

Of course, I still prefer Henke to partner up with Zlatan rather than Elmander.

Yeah, but would almost preferred to have seen Marcus Berg in there. He's got many years on him though, and Henke's experience might be vital.

Who`s Berg? Play in Allsvenskan or abroad?

Sorry for Daniel Nannskog not being given a chance for you guys. He`s been fantastic for Stabæk for a couple of seasons now. Not saying he should go to EM but should have been given a chance atleast. Did Pelle Nilsson make it?

Scored 17 goals in 24 starts for FC Groningen who ended up at 7th place in Eredivisie. Also became the top scorer in the Swedish league after leaving it mid-season for Holland.
