They're usually bigger when it's a free transfer though. At least that's what you always hear with these deals.Players always get signing bonuses.

I'd expect a bit more than what Larsson gave us!Hoping he can be our second Henrik Larsson. Wasn't he a stop gap signing too? And a Swede at that?
He bloody well should be more than that. Larsson scored 3 in 13. If Ibrahimovic cannot do significantly better than that he'll be a flop.Hoping he can be our second Henrik Larsson. Wasn't he a stop gap signing too? And a Swede at that?

He was good, Ferguson wanted to extended his loan. Rooney mentioned he learned a lot from him at the time.Henrik's time at United is vastly overrated, had a great start but after that, nothing better than "ok".
They're often factored into their wages, so when we hear that he's gonna be on £220k or whatever it is, that will likely include the singing bonus. Same thing happened with Young. They're usually bigger when it's a free transfer though. At least that's what you always hear with these deals.

He's living your dream then?In among all this celebrating from the majority of posters, I'd like to think about @macheda14. He had a season ticket for the last three years at Old Trafford (Moyes and LVG X2) before moving from Manchester to move to London. He'll now miss Mourinho, Zlatan and everything else for next season.

Getting a few sponsor deals with the Zlatan hype to cover the wage should be easy. Zlatan brand is still very much popular out there.
You were right back then. He wasn't the right signing. Fergie could and should have strengthened other areas instead, especially central midfield.I was one of the fools claiming RvP wans't the right signing - I thought we needed a CM, not another striker.
A poster said yesterday we practically have entire Sweden as fans now since we signed Zlatan. They don't support Sweden, they support Zlatan. He still has a tremendous pull in terms of marketing. Selling his jerseys won't be a problem.Somehow i don't imagine its that easy mate.
I could be wrong but just because we have signed Ibrahimovic the phones are not going to be all of a sudden ringing off the hook with a company or companies offering us the equivalent of £13m per year that they wouldn't have otherwise.
Could it open the door to deals with a few companies that we wouldn't have partnered with otherwise yes it's possible. Could it lead to a stronger negotiating position with a few companies we were already due to tie up deals with, again yes its possible.
But honestly i highly doubt we will go out in the next few months and get 1, 2 or 5 new deals that will cover his wages. I don't care if we do either as long as he is performing on the pitch.
That's a bold prediction. We needed to outscore every single opponent that year and RVP and was integral to that with his 30 goals. Signing him gave us a huge lift as well because we signed one of the league's best players. And he chose us over City. You were right back then. He wasn't the right signing. Fergie could and should have strengthened other areas instead, especially central midfield.
We could have won the league without him, considering how shite City were that year.

We would have had a better team had Fergie not been mortally afraid of signing central midfielders. He indulged his love of classy strikers for his one final season but it was to the detriment of the squad and the mid-term future. That's a bold prediction. That doesn't mean we can't announce around it to try influence share prices. The stock exchange has no bearing on when we announce stuff. When will this tedious myth end?
Who would have scored the goals that year?
Rooney was on the way down. So not sure how we would have won the league. RVP won us many games on his own.
Woah, that's a bold thing to say in the Zlatan thread of all places (where Ibrahimovic's previous season is often used as a justification for his signing). He scored 27 goals in the Premier League in 2011/12. His decline was at least partly down to the RVP signing which changed and upset the balance of the side.Who would have scored the goals that year?

He needs to make a bigger entrance than Mata. He is God after all.Has he arrived in Manchester yet?

That's ridiculous. You can't invite a God for your petty trials. And this inevitably will have Wenger saying "We tried to sign him when he was a kid" when Zlatan is doing well for us.Guess he'll be arriving in a spaceship or something. Zlatan allegedly declined Arsenal before going to Ajax. Because "Zlatan doesn't do trials".
Zlatan doesn't do parachutesHopefully he parachutes into Carrington.
What a joke.Yeah not in the football forums.
The joke is what the forum became when every second post was a shit reaction gif or meme. What a joke.

Some of the posters in this thread are thinking extremely short term. The fact that Adidas receives the monetary gain from our shirt sales doesn’t mean we won’t benefit from it too. These two factors are not mutually exclusive at all.
Big name signings like Zlatan will allow us to sit in the driving seat next time we’re negotiating with Nike/Adidas or our new shirt sponsor.
Some may argue that we just signed new shirt deals, but my counter argument to that is that exceptional sales would give us the opportunity to renew the shirt deal early. Chelsea proved that this is a realistic possibility with their early renewal.
A reinvigorated Manchester United with a World Class manager signing Big-name players like Zlatan is a sponsors dream. Adidas may earn the money from the shirt sales, but we will benefit in the long term when we are sitting at the negotiating table with them (and other sponsors) providing evidence of our commercial value and why we deserve a record breaking new sponsorship.
While I kinda disagree with as-95, I don't think you can prove it won't change with Zlatan here. He's a seriously liked character, and *arguably) the first world class player we've bought in years.Zlatan will hardly move the needle when it comes to shirt sales though. That's what we're saying. Adidas sign with Manchester United because of the global brand. That won't change much with Ibrahimovic coming here.
