Milan might not be able to match our wage offer but they can come close. Think they have some Chinese investment coming in.

Even with the Chinese investment they won't be able to pay half what we can afford.

I think Zlatan wants to come here but we're still negotiating and all this talk of him coming to United and Zlatan's reaction to the United question don't help Raiola from a bargaining position.

I doubt that. He's an icon in those parts and they might be willing to pay whatever it takes especially if it's a short term deal.

They have revenues of £199m. Zlatan has done it all there before, so the challenge isn't there for him and they're not going to commit 25% of their revenue (gross income, not profit) on competing with China and getting him back for a couple years and a last hurrah.

Agree with that. Didn't Raiola even deny a couple of weeks back that we'd offered a contract? I don't think it's a done deal or anything but if Mourinho wants him, I'm fairly confident he'll come.

If we are still negotiating, why the hell would his agent say 'yeah Ibra is going to United.' The agents job is to get as much money for his client and himself.

A surprise could be Arsenal though.
I can't see him going to Arsenal at all. If he comes to the premier league it will be to us, I'm convinced of that

Surely not, they can't afford his wages and he's been there and done that already the only league he hasn't played in is the prem. I'm still fairly confident we will get him.

Chinese clubs are willing to offer crazy wages.

Can anyone really imagine Zlatan playing in China? Come on.

I don't see him playing now in China. According to some French reports, his wife doesn't want China. He should know Lavezzi is unhappy to live there :)

The wife will follow the king anywhere.

' Behind every great man there stands a great woman' :p

It's simple we are favorite but we are not the only option and he could choose Milan for other reasons than money. There is zero reasons to be so dismissive.

Milan isn't a credible option for so many reasons. Nowadays, Milan AC could only welcome & attract players expelled from PSG like Jérémy Ménez or Alex.
You know Mino Raiola: he likes to raise the bidding and flatter Milan AC, the former club of Zlatan.

Humm, what happens if Berlusconi sells his shares to powerful investors? Well, it would be surprising to come back to a former club: nothing exciting really.

This is what I am thinking too. Zlatan hasn't signed yet and Raiola is trying to improve his bargaining position after the media considering this signing a certainty. Although it does contradict Zlatan saying that he already knows his next club.

Which is why it confirms it further for me rather than add uncertainty.

As much as anything I think Raiola wants it to be one last big unveiling with a huge amount of fan fare.

The way it's going, the media is almost already bored of revealing that Zlatan is coming here.

It also suggests that the de Telegraaf leak probably came from one of Van Gaal's camp rather than Raiola.

Any reason LVG would know? If we're hiring his replacement behind his back, I can't think of any real need to let him know what players we're talking to.

The surprise? Bayern Munich

Reasons why:

1- Zlatan never won the Champions League. With Bayern, the chances are great.

2- Ancelotti. Coached him at PSG, appreciated his leadership and professionalism, declaring it publicly.

3- If rumors are to be true that Lewandowski is talking to Real Madrid, then surely Bayern will need a new striker to accompany Muller. Zlatan perfect quick fix. Bayern has the money, reputation, history, power too.

4 -Bayern acts quickly, swiftly, under the radar. You hear nothing from them, very quiet, and boom, suddenly they get the player they want. Renato Sanches anyone? While we were baffling the deal that was very much public, they went straight in and got our target. It feels the same with Zlatan, a lot of public questions linking him with us, but no deal yet.

5 -Surprise you say? who even thought of Bayern as an option.

Can't think of a reason other than the fact he was our manager and he might just be in the loop with these sorts of things. Friends in the club let him know.

If the rumours are true of Mourinho calling Van Gaal personally about the situation to retain their bond, they may have had a talk about the club and Mourinho's plans.

There's any number of ways the manager of United could have found out, I'm just speculating that the source (if there was one) wasn't a man that has gone on to play down links with us.

He would never join Bayern Munich.

And Lewandowski will stay......he just wants more money.

If Bayern steal another muppet target, recriminations will be in order.

Fair enough.

Is the paper in question Dutch?

Your post makes sense but I don't believe in this scenario because:

1. Lewandoski won't leave imho. Lewa & Zlatan can't play together (conflict of interests).

2. The top management of Bayern is not a fan of him. An illustration below.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/tran...r-i-cant-imagine-ibrahimovic-at-bayern-munich

If Lewy stays, then no, Zlatan won't join. that's for sure. Those quotes by Sammer were made with the view that Lewy will still be in the squad. But what if Lewy does leave, maybe their management will have a change of mind.

If anything it'd be more reason to let him know. He probably talked to the scouting and transfer teams most days, if not every. It'd be unusual for them to keep info and targets from him.

Also, most transfers are regardless of manager anyway, unless they ask for specific players, or reject them. Like our recent history, Shaw was arranged with Moyes involvement as was Herrera(who SAF had been keeping tabs on too), SAF rejecting Hazard after the deal was arranged. Then LvG going with the flow with Falcao and Di Maria(I believe he wasn't especially interested in either), where as it's likely he requested Blind and maybe Memphis.

Zlatan was a target at the time we got RvP, so it'd make sense that we kept a close eye on him, and contact with his people.

Yeah, it was speculated as either Van Gaal's entourage or Raiola who was adopted by Dutch parents or something like that.
Ahh! Yeah, in that case I can definitely see why you find the former more likely, as you say, given Raiola seems rather keen to suggest it's not the case.

“Real Madrid contacted us a few weeks ago, we listened to everything they said. It’s a big and exciting club,” Kucharski told the German news magazine Spiegel. “We have informed FC Bayern that we’ve held talks with Madrid.”

I wouldn't be surprised if Lewandowski ends up at Real Madrid.

LVG name dropped Di Maria 10 days before we signed him.

Rummenigge has called him a "Stupid person" a few years ago.
http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/b...persoenlichkeitsentfaltung-32636616.bild.html

Players like Vidal can forget bad words from Rummenigge against themselves........but someone like Ibrahimovic would play surely rather for Portsmouth than Bayern Munich (as long as Rummenigge is there).

when Madrid comes knocking, they get their man most of the time. And players are attracted to that club too...

I hope we announce this signing next week, it would be great to have this wrapped up before the Euros.

Wrong thread for that......but i know many Bayern Munich fans and they are thinking "His agent loves to talk to the press. Lewandowski wants the same money like Müller in his new contract. Most of them aren't worried at all".

Lewandowski wanted to join Bayern Munich so much that he has waited "another season" at Dortmund and wasn't interested in big money moves to England.

Yes, and at that point the deal would have been very well under way. He was probably told well before that by Muppet Woodward that he was getting a shiny new Di Maria, end of.

It just doesn't fit whatsoever with what the club and Van Gaal say about how much control he has.

Why was Moyes allowed total control and Van Gaal had players forced on him?

Cause of what happened with Moyes?

I have no idea what happened but I can believe that after Moyes didn't spend much and we failed, Woodward wasn't overly fond of the idea of the next manager not spending much either.

It fits very much in with Woodys constant lust to flash his balls, sign galacticos and make us basically like Madrid. As for Van Gaal, I think we all know he chats a lot of shit.

Why was Moyes allowed total control and Van Gaal had players forced on him?
Was he allowed total control? I doubt it. Seems he requested Fellaini, Baines and was gagging for Kroos, also cancelled the deal for Herrera(stupidly). On the flip side, Bale, Ronaldo, Fabregas, and Mata all seem more like club/Woody targets.

I think Bayern would go after Morata or Higuain, if Lewandowski were to leave. How about this one.

Seriously why would United want Zlatan? He only hurts the growth of Rashford. United needs playmakers in midfield. Outside of Martial I´m not sure there is a single playing in midfield at United that would start for the other 10 bigget clubs in Europe. Rooney and Depay for the bench. The rest....Midfield is the big weakness. A great midfield can cover a weak defense and provide a mediocre striker with enough service to make him look good. Given the shitloads of money Zlatan will demand it would be better spend elsewhere and on a younger player.

How many goals did we score last season?

That's why we want Ibrahimovic. Do you think other big clubs have this attitude too? Why did Bayern sign Lewandowski? It hurts the growth of Muller and Gotze.

Just because Rashford is in good form doesn't mean we shouldn't sign other strikers. Competition for places and having more world class options is brilliant. So this we shouldn't sign a new striker because of Rashford needs to stop. We also don't know how Rashford will be in his second season.

I think United didn´t score goals, because nobody provided the strikers with any good service. And that won´t change, just because there is a better player standing around up front not getting the service. Rashford and Martial can both play striker and they are the only young elite talent in midfield and attack. United are not going to build a title winning squad overnight, because they have too many holes, so why waste resources on a 3rd striker, when you need two defensive midfielders, two playmakers and two wingers. Signing Griezmann, Kante and Goetze would help a lot more. See if you can drop Rooney deeper or he has to settle for the super-sub role.

---- Rooney (30) Kante (25) ----

Martial (20) Goetze (23) Griezmann (25)

------Rashford (18) -------

Thast´s what I would aim for. Front four can always switch positions. They have young legs. They have pace. They have flair. They have nearly a decade together.

We shouldn't play an 18 year old every week. Ibra is a good option for a couple of seasons so we can rotate Rashford and actually have a striker option from the bench.
