Can't see Brighton letting go of such an important player this close to the deadline

He isn't a proper DM either is he? More of a B2B in the McT mould just a bit more polished
He puts up pretty convincing tackling stats though so i dont think it would be a problem. Solid enough passer too. My personal opinion i think we could probably find a better bargain from the continent right now. The market there has totally crashed whereas here that doesnt seem to be the case.

From what I saw of yesterday’s game, I wasn’t overly impressed.

Keep an eye on him in the centre for Gray’s goal if you want a snippet. Didn’t look interested.

Agreed. I'll happily admit that this was the first match I've really paid attention to him so it's a VERY small sample size, but I wasn't impressed.

It wasn't just the goal, there were multiple times that the opposition got behind him and he just jogged back without any real urgency. Similar to how AWB often does which always pisses me off. Sure you won't be able to get back in time to stop the player on the ball immediately, but much of the time that player will be slowed down and look to pass it on in which case you should be back to improve the defensive numbers.

He was more comfortable under pressure and taking on players than Fred and maybe Scott are, but that's about the only thing that stood out as an improvement. It's a one-off match though so obviously he could normally be a fair bit better.

He is overhyped, we will also most likely not buy a pure DM.
Can’t understand why this is a popular opinion, perhaps I’m missing something….

The last thing we need is a box to box who can’t quite be relied upon to defend, we have plenty of that already, plenty.

Surely we need a top defensive midfielder, a young Matic basically would be the perfect signing.

Is this guy a pure DM or another box to box ? From what i`ve seen he seems to have the attributes to be a DM, but atm is more of a box to box.

I wouldn't say its the popular opinion, its the logical one as it just seems we're barely linked to pure DM's. It seems obvious what we should be looking at, but from the outside looking in it doesn't seem to be the case.

I think the reason Ole isn't looking for a pure DM is because he's looking beyond this season when Pogba leaves.

Personally this is what I don't get too.

We need a young version of Matic but we also need a young version of carrick. 2 CDM that play in two different ways - one tempo setting and one more defensively capable of holding his own position.

We only have a single CDM and that's matic. That's why we need more than just one. Fred and Mctominay are more CM's with defensive ability, not CDM.

Yeah I can see how that sways the opinion. I just find it odd that we aren’t linked with more defensive midfielders.

We have such a good attack but we need a secure base to play from, it’s my sole concern currently after all the good we’ve done bringing players in.

He can play both as a DM and box to box.

If Dan James is off to Brighton then we should at least enquire.

I think we'd need another creative midfielder in that case. So for me, a DM now, creative once Pogba leaves

I agree, but in that scenario I think Ole would give VdB Pogba's minutes, and try to integrate Garner as a squad option.

Not sure he trusts any of these players but we will have to see what happens with Pogba first anyways

Crying out for this guy at this point.

Because the double pivot doesn't need a pure DM but rather 2 competent all round mids.

Yes, unfortunately, cannot be made to order.

His talent is box to box in my opinion. He likes to dribble and carry the ball forward. He wasn't that good vs Everton but all Brighton players played poor in that game and Bissouma probably their least shit one in that game.

He plays for Brighton and won't have the additional English tax. This means pretty much every time could get him, even if it's to strengthen their squad or to sell him on if he's indeed that good (or could be)....yet he remains there? It makes no sense and I suspect there is more to it. Also Utd might think, he no better than what we have and I'd argue, if Scott or Fred played for Brighton, they'd look better than him.

I beg to differ based on what we’ve seen consistently over the last few years.

Seemingly Fred can’t play without Scott, Pogba can’t play there with anybody apparently (which is a nonsense imo so long as its a competent DM)

So it doesn’t work effectively enough and requires ultimately two limited midfielders paired up to do the job of one top DM.

I’d much prefer specialists in each position. These Jack-of-all-trade midfielders aren’t cutting the mustard and there’s no guarantee replacement versions of the same will.

We could add the likes of Camavinga (who I’m led to believe is more of a well rounded midfielder rather than a true DM) and we could be still having the same issues.

The crux of the issue is the fact we are overrun in midfield at times, like yesterday, and the players we have can’t progress the ball well enough or contribute going forward. These sorts of players aren’t going to fix the issue imo.

He’s top class. My Brighton mate swears he’s the best player he’s ever seen in the shirt.
To be fair, your Brighton mate is probably right, BUT remember Brighton have spent most of the last 30 years bouncing between league 1 and 2 with the occasional run in the Championship, so now we're in the prem most of our current players are the best any Brighton fan has seen in the shirt.

Still over the moon we have Ronaldo back. But it is a massive mistake not signing a class central midfielder like Bissouma in the window. We are a top heavy side. Biss or Camavinga was ideal.l. How the hell can we be relying on Fred, McT and Matic this season. Seriously. We are soft in the middle.

Yeah this guy has to at least be on the shortlist for next summer maybe even January because see Rice snubbing us

Amazing that all these fans think he's 'the answer' yet no one club from the prem can see it? Not like Brighton aren't a selling club? If he was that good, why is he still there?

Because most clubs are stacked in that department except us am sure there would be a lot of interest if other clubs were in our position.

Maybe they're waiting for his deal to run down - one year left next year I think. Perhaps if we'd have shifted Lingard we'd have been in for him given Camavinga is Real bound.

Sorry, not buying it and clearly so is no clubs either. If he has one year left, then surely Brighton would want something for him than the potential of him going for free?

Sorry, whoever made the comment that other clubs don't need him,? So the other clubs in the prem have better midfielders, so they don't need him. If that's the case then neither do we....
