Your top transfer targets (be the Mourinho)

Think one of each line

LB: Sandro Tierney Mendy
CH: Koubouly VVD Keane
CM: Fabinho Hamsik Weigl
CF: Lukaku

Or a

special players: any one of James Mbappe or Griezmann and sacrifice any or all the above defenders.

If given a choice would love a midfielder plus Sandro and Koubouly and Lukaku but maybe not financially realistic.

1) Mbappe 2) Morata 3) Andre Silva 4) Belotti 5) Lukaku 6) Lacazette 7) Icardi
1) Griezmann 2) Lemar 3) James 4) Nainggolan 5) Pulisic 6) Felipe Anderson 7) Berardi
1) Fabinho 2) Weigl 3) Cyprien 4) Saul 5) Tolisso 6) N. Keita 7) D. Pereira
1) Alex Sandro 2) Mendy 3) Emerson 4) R. Pereira 5) Dalbert
Lindelof, van Dijk, Koulibaly, Laporte, M. Keane, M. Sarr (no idea who I'd prefer here)

Based on last season and everyone being fit.

So while this thread says 'if you were Mourinho' it's basically a who do you want us to sign thread

Unfortunately my shopping list for this summer would have been Griezmann (we all know how this one ended), Fabinho (seemingly zero interest) and a CB (though not any of the average ones like Keane or Van Dijk)

Striker (#9): 1. Belotti 2. Morata 3. Lukaku

Midfield (defensive): 1. Tolisso 2. Naingollan 3. Danilo Perreira

Attacker (wing or support): 1. James 2. Felipe Anderson 3. Zaha

Defender (LB): 1. Mendy 2. Gaya 3. Teirney

Morata, Perisic, Fabinho, Lindeloff.

Perfect for the direct football that we want to play.

Sorry to be a bore btw.
I think that's perhaps our most likely window. I think that's probably a 7/10 summer (not sure anybody is having an 8 to be honest) but if we had Griezmann in there instead of say Perisic it would have been an 8 or 9.

Ryan Bertrand
Fabinho
Radja Nainggolan
James Rodriguez
Alexis Sanchez

This would give us a lot more firepower and the flexibility to play both 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1. Sanchez can play up top if rashford/martial are unavailable or aren't firing. James can play wide in a three or at #10. Nainggolan can play box to box and we'd have four incredible options for three positions if we played a 4-3-3 in fabinho/herrera,/ pogba/Nainggolan. Fabinho can also play right back to give Valencia rest and rotation.

Unfortunately, I don't think we are in for Sanchez, Bertrand and maybe even fabinho. Who knows about James. We are clearly in for a #9 and probably one CM and a CB, so I'd say a list of:

Lewandowski/Aubameyang/Morata
James/Perisic/Sigurdsson
Nainggolan/Fabinho/Tolisso
Bertrand/Guerreiro/Mendy
Varane/Giminez/Keane

I just hope we avoid Belotti more than anything.

Striker: 1. Auba 2. Mbappe 3. Kane
CM: 1. Fabinho 2. Dier 3. Naingollan
CB: 1. Marquinhos 2. Laporte
Winger/Attacking Midfielder: 1. Sanchez 2. Douglas Costa

I base this on filling our squad numbers, we have no Number 2 or 7, hopefully number 4 and 10 will be freed up, and maybe even numbers 8 & 9 ?

Therefore I am being greedy and say we should bring in SIX new players !
Vigil Van Djik - 2
Fabinho - 4
Willian - 7
Perisic - 8
Morata - 9
James - 10

I know it has a cat in hells chance so don't take it too seriously.

Out: DDG, Zlatan, Rooney, Januzaj, Jones and Smalling

In: Morata, James, Perisic, Fabinho, VVD, Pereira

--------------Romero----------------
Valencia--Bailly----VVD--------Shaw
---------------Fabinho---------------
---------James-----Pogba-----------
Mkhitaryan----Morata-------Perisic

-------------J.Pereira-----------------
Darmian---Tuanzebe--Rojo----Blind
----------------Herrera--------------
----------Pereira-----Fellaini---------
Mata-----------Rashford---------Martial

With: Carrick, TFM, Young and Lingard in reserve

I'll just put them in tiers of how badly I want the signing

DM - Fabinho - Gives Pogba more freedom and will be able to play more than Carrick
LB - Mendy/Rose - Just someone who's plays LB and doesn't have attitude issues like Shaw please
10 - James - Will score and create goals, yes we need a striker, but James will score as well and he's one of the few players this window who's likely to move who can already be considered world class
Striker - 1) Lacazette - Overall great player and finishes well 2) Morata - I like him but this whole "omg I never want to leave Madrid!!!!" bs while simultaneously engineering a move is scummy 3) Lukaku - Expensive but will bag in goals
CB - Apparently Jose likes Lindelof and I'll just go with what he thinks is best for that position

Excess

Nainggolan - As stupid as he looks, love the way he plays and think he could be an added dimension if we could somehow fit him in our midfield.

Willian
Alexis Sanchez
Morata
Keane
Fabinho

de Gea

Valencia - Bailly - Keane - Shaw

Fabinho
Herrera - Pogba

Willian - Morata - Sanchez

LB: Sandro Mendy
CH: Laporte, VVD, Khoulibaly (AFCON tied but so so good)
CM: Fabinho, Tolisso, Keita
CF: Auba, Morata, Lacazette

DEFENDER: Pepe - because is free and would be funny.
LEFT BACK: Alex Sandro
MIDFIELDER: Fabinho
LEFT WINGER: Neymar
STRIKER: Belotti

Varane, Mendy, Fabinho, Sanchez, Morata would be my first choice top 5

Keane, Rose, Dier, Dembele, Aubameyang would be my alternatives to the top 5

Lindelof, Bertrand, Romelu, Douglas Costa and Lacazette would be third choices

1) Icardi
2) Fabinho +/ Romeu
3) VVD
4) Mendy
5) James Rodriguez

All realistic signings and will push us to title challengers.

1) Naby Keita. Good alternative to Fellaini as the most advanced of 3 mids. Admittedly not a great defender, but he puts in a shift. Good contested ball winner, not like Fellaini who uses brute strength, but with agility, low centre of gravity and deceptive strength. He will provide run and carry, an excellent dribbler going forward, he draws defenders. His passing is excellent, and I'm sure he'll get in for goals just when the team needs them.
2) Pulisic. A right flanker who frees up Mata & Mkhitaryan to play roles that suit them as required. His positioning and reading of the play causes him to stretch opposition defences. He still has improvements but he's already very, very good. I don't believe either James or Perisic would offer more than this guy, not even right away. He gave impetus to Dortmund's attack against Real Madrid. He came off the shoulder of the fullback, worked his way to the inside right position and brought a great save out of Navas. Moments later he broke the line of defence with strength and ball control to provide the cross that brought about the equalizer.
3) Bakayoko. I think a real key to Monaco's fortunes. Big and strong. Technically rough around the edges, but he gets stuck in and takes the hits for his team, and I like that. For his size he's pretty good with the ball at his feet. I think he's just the kind of warrior Jose would appreciate.
4) CF. I'm not overly fussed which one. All the ones being touted have their strengths and weaknesses. Who knows which one would actually bring the greatest effects. I like Aubameyang because he's a great athlete, will drift deep and win the ball for his team, and scores some inspirational goals.
Others: Fabinho produces some lovely defence splitting passes, and that's good value in itself. Alex Sandro, Werner, Dembele are probably unrealistic. Then again so too are Keita and Pulisic. So I really don't know what to expect.

Outs: Rooney, Zlatan, Shaw, Jones, Darmian
Ins: Morata, James, Fabinho, Keane, Rose

Regular Formation:

-----------------De Gea---------------
Tony V-----Bailly-----Keane-----Rose
-----------------Fabinho---------------
Mkhi T----James----Pogba----Martial
-----------------Morata----------------

"Mou's Park the Bus" Lineup:

-------------------De Gea-------------------
-----Keane---------Bailly---------Blind-----
-----------Fabinho------Herrera------------
-Tony V--------------------------------Rose-
------------Fellaini-------Pogba-------------
-------------------Morata--------------------

With Rashford, Carrick, Smalling, Fellaini as first-choice subs.

In order of target preference:

Strikers: Aubameyang, Morata, Belotti, Dembele, Werner

Midfielders: Fabinho, Weigl, Naingolan, Willy, Naby Keita, Renato Sanches

Centerbacks: Van Dijk, Giminez, Marquinhos, Keane

Attacking midfielders: James, Brahimi, Belhanda,

Wingers: Perisic, Douglas Costa Bernardeschi, Mahrez, Boudebouz, Lemar

Fullbacks: Sidibe, De Sciglio, Semedo

Proposed team:
A team:
De Gea - Valencia Van Dijk Bailly Sidibe
- Fabinho Pogba Herrera - Mhikitaryan Aubameyang James

B team: Romero - Darmian Keane Rojo/Tuanzebe Shaw/Blind - Fellaini/Carrick Pereira/Harrop Mata/Pereira- Rashford/Lingard Martial/Rashford Perisic/Januzaj

loan: Fosu Mensah, Mc Tominay, Willock

Sold: Young, Smalling, Jones, Rooney,

PS: this is FM level wishful thinking

Striker: Aubamayeng, Mbappe, lukaku, morata=lacazette, belotti

Winger: Sanchez, dembele, perisic, costa

Midfielder: nainggolan, Naby Keita, fabinho, bakayoko, N'zonzi

Cb: Varane, Manolas, Marquinhos, keane, lindelof

Lb: Mendy, Guerreiro?

Rb: semedo

Most realistic sides imo:

Perisic Morata Mkhitaryan
Pogba Herrera
Fabinho
Mendy Keane Bailly Valencia
De Gea

Rashford
Martial Mata
Pereira Carrick Fellaini
Darmian Blind Smalling Semedo
Romero
Lingard to rotate around too along with tfm and tuanzebe... sell the rest. Concern is still not enough goals. Ideally we want our striker to get around 30 and then if Martial can make the step up and stay consistent then he can push 20 goals. Miki can get around 15 goals i would say, same with Pogba. Thats if everyone performs as they could though. More likely is 20 for morata, 10 for both wingers each in all comps, similar for pogba/rashford/martial/mata. Its missing a world class dynamic wide player who can score loads for us like Sanchez does for arsenal.

Ideally: Neymar, Messi, Kroos and Bonucci
But Mou isn't that ambitious and we'll most likely end up with Morata, Fabinho, Keane and Mendy

Keeping in realistic:
Lukaku-Morata
Fabinho-Dier
Costa-Lemar
VVD-Lindelöf

Would cost a fortune.

Striker Aubameyang, Costa, Belloti
Winger Sanchez, Costa, Salah
CM X2 Sanches, Fabinho, Nainggolan, Bakoyoko, Keita, Rabiot
CB Romagnoli Lindelof, Keane,

In order of preference (realistic targets based on who might be available this summer:

Striker: 1)Aubameyang 2) Morata 3) Lacazette (Mbappe would be #1 if available)

Winger/versatile attacking player: 1) Alexis Sanchez 2) Lemar 3) James Rodriguez 4) Bernardeschi 5) Mahrez

DM: 1) Fabinho/Nainggolan (can't decide between the two)

LB: 1) Mendy. A tricky situation as we still have Shaw who cannot be relied upon (form or fitness wise). Also there aren't many great available LBs out there.

CB: I don't really believe there is a great CB available on the market. VVD would be good but he's overpriced and coming off an injury. Wouldn't really mind Lindelof and while I'm not a big fan of Keane, I'm ok with it.

If we could pick anyone and they are fit then as a minimum 4
Striker Kane
LW Bale
DM Fabinho
CB Varane
If money no object we could also do with a LB
Danny Rose. Alli would also be nice
Dont think Spurs would let us plunder 2 or 3 though lol

Lindelof, Fabinho, Perisic, Morata

Varane, Kane and Sanchez, with Griezmann in January would be better but too unrealistic

Me creaming my jeans- list would be:

Verratti, Dybala, Varane, Aubameyang and Sanchez and since I'm on a shopping spree, throw in Alaba as well.

My realistic list would be:

Bertrand
Morata
Douglas Costa

A proper ball playing holding MF is someone who I cannot come up with. A realistic target while good enough as well.

All Monaco players mentioned I basically know nothing about. haven't really seen enough games. Just few CL games. I bet many caftards haven't really seem them enough either, just jumped on the bandwagon.

Striker (#9): 1. Morata, 2. Belotti, 3. Lacazette

Midfield (defensive): 1. Fabinho, 2. Dier, 3. Sanches

Attacker (wing or support): 1. Bale, 2. Douglas Costa, 3. Perisic

Defender (CB): 1. Keane , 2. Lindelof

If we could get Kane, I wouldn't care who else we signed. But 4 dream signings would be...

Kane
Veratti
Marcelo
Pick one more from Modric/Kroos/Sanchez

This thread appears once every month, it only has a different name.
I guess this time of the year people have a bit more of an idea who're we after. Before there was Greizmann and Marquinhos and Varane.
This time it's Morata and Keane.
To me all look like they could bring something to the squad: Perisic, Lindelof, Morata, Fabinho, Dier, Keane, Belotti.

To be honest, I have doubts we would've gone for Greizmann and a #9 even if Atletico's ban was lifted. So I am hoping that we identify someone else to take Greizmann's place.
Aubameyang is a player that I think we should be in for. He's more of a mix between a striker and winger, rather than Greizmann type mix of a striker and a #10 (resulting in a SS).
So if we get Auba and James, that could push Auba to the right, James in the middle and Morata/Belotti up top, which I think they're all attainable.

--------GK--------
RB--CB---CB--LB
----CDM--CDM---
Auba-James-LW
--Morata/Belotti--

Let's say we sign those three - Rashford, Auba and one of Morata/Belotti can rotate as a striker. Lingard, Mikhi, Mata and James can rotate at CAM, same four plus Auba and can rotate at RW, Rashford, Martial, Mikhi, even Pogba can slot at LW.
In other words, I seem like I know it all .

I guess Mourinho has identified 2 or 3 players per each position we need to add quality and it doesn't seem like on of the targeted per position is a stand out than the other. Comparing Morata and Belotti, they have individual characteristics that one has, but the other hasn't, however they could do a pretty good job, so either one would do.
Prioritizing comes to what positions we really need and #9 is up top, so that's why all the rumors for a striker are hitting the press. What I am really interested to know is what wingers have been identified by Jose.

If I was José I'd remind Woodward that we spent £0 in January, and that we're the World's richest club, and that I've got us CL football and 2 trophies...

And I'd want -

Kane for up to 150-200m
Sanchez for up to 80m
VDV for 50-50m

And I'd offer these players all at least double what they're earning currently.

These are the type of signings we should be looking to make - the World's richest club shouldn't allow Spuds to enjoy Kane and Alli in the same league, it's insane. Likewise with Sanchez, he shouldn't be allowed to move to Bayern without at least offering Arse twice what Bayern are paying.

Supposedly if the transfer budget was 200 m pounds.

My list now would be
  1. Morata 60 m
  2. Fabinho 40 m
  3. Lindelof 35 m
  4. Perisic for the right price would keep ashley young if perisic does not come here.
  5. Mahrez for the right price ( Given the right motivation his creativity and wingplay would be an asset when freed from excessive defensive duties and would link up will in the box in opposition half) and may be janujaz goes the other side plus some cash. Alexis sanchez if he decides to come here instead of mahrez and try a cheeky bid for him.
Would sell Rooney for 10 -15 m, No freebie gestures for him as he's had enough and we have to be professional. If Perisic comes will also sell Ashley young to china for a fee around 8-10 m ( he could earn top money there given his work rate and fitness). Will sell janujaz for 15m Pounds.

Double minded on Andreas pierera, An option on the bench will reduce his play time and slow down his good development from last season, But a very good option on the bench to keep as an attacking midfeilder or creative winger.

This squad with new additions will give us a squad which would be very fluid and complete in applying different systems and tactics according to the need and situation of games and injuries.

Defender: Bonucci, Alderweireld, Boateng (last purely because he's unrealistic as fuk)
DM: Weigl, Nainggolan, Fabinho
Striker: Mbappe, Aubameyang, Kane
Winger: Dembele, Sanchez, Koke

I'd max get 2 of my targets, and would be asked for 4th and 5th choices as well, I know.
