Your Top 5 films: 2010

Don't mind Spoony, most folk will tell you they're brilliant, especially Kick-Ass.

He just doesn't like anything over a PG rating.

5. Four Lions
4. Shutter Island
3. Kick Ass
2. Toy Story 3
1. Inception

Inception won't win Best Picture either (not that that matters much), that one belongs to The Social Network.

I think you will see a big push for 'The King's Speech' I believe the rule is that it has to air in LA in the previous calendar year to be eligible. From the reviews I'm hearing Colin Firth has a lock on Best Actor.

I'm not going to put forward a list as I wasn't thoroughly impressed by five new films throughout the year, I thought Inception was alright but it was very straightforward I thought and extremely overhyped though still good.

I'm genuinely really surprised so many people have kick-ass in their top 5, I thought it was awful.

Likewise, then again maybe you have to be into comics to like it?

Placed it on my list. It's undoubtedly one of the year's best films, featuring two great performances by two great actors.

My bets are on Colin Firth and Nathalie Portman for the best actor academy awards.

A Prophet
I Saw the Devil
Four Lions
How to Train Your Dragon
Black Swan

Honorable mentions to Inception, Mother, The Secret in Their Eyes, The Social Network & Enter The Void.

It's been a decent film year imo, still a few films I'd like to see: Biutiful, Carlos, True Grit, Confessions and a few Korean ones.

Wow I can't even think of 5 movies I've seen this year. I've seen lots actually but most of them have been old movies.

Inception definitely my favorite.

God this depressing :( Kick-ass was decent fun, nothing great. Can't even think of another I saw.

Right, so How to train your dragon, A prophet and Four Lions seem to be on everyones list. Those must be the ones to watch.

I'm downloading that. I like Kim's work. Although, I suspect I'll get accused of only watching obscure Korean films, despite Kim being pretty mainstream. I'm also waiting for a Black Swan dvd rip. The screener's not of good quality.

1. Kick-ass
2. Scott Pilgrim vs the World
3. Inception
4. The A Team
5. Tron Legacy

I forgot about it in my initial post, but Another Year, brilliance as expected from Leigh.

I'm surprised so many people liked Kick-Ass so much. I thought it was fun in parts but nothing exceptional. I actually saw it because of the rave reviews here. People seemed to think it was super funny. I thought it had at max 4 or 5 funny moments.

I thought it was very funny, but it's not just about that. The action scenes were class, it had excellent performances and a fun, original plot for a superhero film.

I didn't think it had anything to offer apart from being a superhero film. I mean it was so about the concept of a superhero that I think it seemed to miss the point that every movie has to have it's own charm. I'm over analyzing it. Basically I though it was a fairly fun watch, wouldn't watch it again, wouldn't remember it for very long.

Fair enough, I've already watched it 3 times.

I wouldn't say it was hysterical, it just a hell of lot of fun(although Nic Cage doing Adam West was genius, but thats because Nic Cage is the greatest man alive)...if you are judging or going in with the intention of seeing some deep film, thats your first problem, although Vaughn still did a fantastic job. I haven't had so much fun watching a film in the cinema in years, have I seen 'better' films? damn straight, but im watching them with a completely different mindset.

But I assumed this asking me what were my favourite films, not what I though were the best films, theres a difference.

Spot on. Pretty much sums up how I felt about it.

:(

Actually no it wasn't a film I regret watching. It was a fun watch but lost itself in a few too many cliches.

Also, regarding the above the above the above poster (Zen), of course I wasn't looking for some deep meaningful cinema, but it just wasn't THAT much fun for me, just a bit.

What I found a bit paradoxical was that the movie seemed to preach an 'ordinary men can be super too' idea when infact it had a little child who was a bit too super and a bit too not ordinary. I mean she literally was a superhero, so that preaching sort of doesn't makes sense.

I watched it at the flicks. I don't think anyone expected it to be deep and meaningful... sadly it wasn't particularly fun either. I dunno, perhaps it was aimed at teenagers.

I'm 23, I know a lot of folks 30+ who loved it. I think for the most part it goes super reviews and 80% of people loved it. I can see why you didn't like it, it won't be to everyones taste, but I think you're overblowing this a bit Spoony, like you have a tendency to do when you don't like something :)

It was an average film with teen humour that didn't even made me raise a smile.

I havent seen Social Network but full credit to Fincher if its half as good as most people seem to think. The book was pretty dull.
