I dont know why everyone uses the "Moyes because he works miracles with a low budget" statement... just because he works well with a low budget doesn't mean he can do the same with a much higher budget and much more expectation. I'd rather we get someone who has done it at the top level, the top level being UCL.

Yeah, I believe in this too. Not really keen on the idea of Moyes at all.

If they are announcing it in the next few days, it's Mourinho. Klopp would not want to announce before the Champions League Final.

A few people are probably in love with the idea of a relatively modestly known manager coming in and building his own legacy here, in reality that's a very difficult thing to do considering who he is replacing, the team he is inheriting and the expectations that will be on his shoulders.

We're not Liverpool, we're not a team who has struggled in recent years and needs time to be rebuilt, we already have a great team (or close to it) that needs a great manager, and that manager is not Moyes, it'd just be a bad move, in my eyes.

Well if it was to be Klopp surely they'd wait till after the Champions league final. With Mourinho his side are done, so could be announced anytime

They have a cup final against Athletico to come. He always waits until the after a final before announcing anything.

Really think it's Moyes, Everton's season is over.

United fans are acting like that ugly girl in the club, who always stares at all the sexy guys, but decides to settle with the loser because "at least he's a stayer".

feck off. We deserve better than Moyes!

Klopp.

Mourinho never built anything, and I want somone who is capable of rebuilding his squad consistently. I'm that spoiled. Klopp build his great side with great emphasis on local lads playing attractive football.

I'm not interested in the EPL experience argument either. Klopp doesn't have La Liga experience either and his team took Mourinho's Real apart (not to mention pissing all over City).

Klopp has the right credentials and values imo. Mourinho would keep us competitive and challenging but he comes with baggage.

Think it will be Moyes but Klopp or Mourinho would be my preferred choice. Love the way Dortmund play and you know Mourinho won't be overawed.

Klopp can build a great midfield on a decent budget. Whats Mourinho going to do without a double fortune backing him?

The thing is, Ferguson is not leaving united, he's leaving the managers position which means he will still be around and part of the set up. I reckon this could mean that someone like Moyes would be seen as an ideal replacement, since he would be less likely to mind any guidance, advice or whatever that Ferguson could share. Can't see Jose liking that situation..

Jose has the utmost respect for SAF & the club. I doubt very much he would 'mind any guidance' from the Master.

For the sake of the new manager, I would prefer it if Fergie sort of faded into the background.

I say that with enormous respect for SAF, but him being in the stands each week wouldn't do the new man any favours, especially if he got off to a rocky start.

That's key here, it's why this is the one place where it might work long term for him. It's basically his dream job and it might just be the job that settles him down a bit.

My #MUFC source also tells me club's board has been in talks with Fergie's successor for some time. Rules out neither Moyes nor Mourinho.

Mourinho certainly looks the most likely candidate and he's almost certain to bring us the instant success.

How would he leave the club though? Will he take everything that Fergie has built up over the years and totally dismantle it?

The young lads from the academy on the verge of great things, does Mourinho have the experience and patience of nurturing that kind of talent or is he all about the here and now with little forward thinking and consideration of the future.

Whilst Fergie has always been very successful he always had one eye on the future at the same time, an ex United player like Ole, Giggs, G Nev or even Cantona all lack the experience but are all in the United mould which may be preferable to the club.

Or do we have to accept that in order to move forwards we need the club to go in a different direction, expect changes in personnel and style of play?

I'm completely torn!

Moyes would be an indication of tightening purse strings for me. I'd love Pep because of his age and the potential for longevity, but it's too late. So from what's left I'd go with Mourinho in the hope he brings Ronnie home.

I'm sure many of you could weigh in on this better than myself but I couldn't envision a German coming in to take over the reins after Alex. I think it'd have to be someone from the UK.

It's a remarkable legacy that everyone knew was eventually going to come to a close and I don't see anyone repeating his feats at a big club ever again. Moreover, can't imagine the next manager stays indefinitely either, SAF was a one off.

Sir Alex staying on as a director or Ambassador of some sorts is likely to include some serious say on what happens next - I wonder if that also means he will be heavily involved in transfers, tactics, philosophy etc.

Either way, awfully big shoes to fill and it's inevitable that there will be a transition. The good, of course, is that perhaps some changes might take root for the club going forward with the future in mind

Ayee, a real issue with Mourinho IMO

The 'sick n wrong' part of my psyche nearly went for Rafa then I saw the three votes he already had. Who voted for him

Fergie being director would prevent that from happening but also I hope he is wise enough not to interfere with the actual management.

It could be a match made in heaven if done right, the thing Mou doesn't have experience with is already ingrained in the club. The players will keep coming through and everyone will be on the same page.

His source is just common sense.

None of the rumoured candidates are unattached so a resignation is necessary and of course they'll have been discussing it beforehand.

If it was Mourinho, why we he have been ostentatiously flirting with a return to Chelsea saying there is "one club" who love him in particular as recently as after the Dortmund game, knowing he was gonna end up at United?

SSN saying an announcement on the next manager due within 48 hours...

Sky just said an announcement will be made in the next 48 hours! holy feck this is all moving too quickly.
