Your ideal 11 - 2018/19 and outs (being realistic)

I think Bale is a realistic option if he leaves Madrid, Im not sold on the media links to Bundesliga or Serie A. I think he will return to the prem, and if he does it's us or Spurs he will go to. The question is how much is an injury prone 28 year old worth? Or how much should we be willing to outlay for him? And is it worth it given his injury record?
Now that Madrid have Lopetegui as their manager. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to involve De Gea in Bale's transfer.
If Bale decides to leave Madrid, I think we are his best option. I just hope we don't end up paying 150m for him, or losing De Gea.

Manolas release clause €37M and philip max release clause €35M

I hope we can play with this next season

De gea
Dalot - bailly - manolas - max
Matic
Pogba - fred/bruno fernandez
Willian - Lukaku - Sanchez

De Gea

Bailly - Jones - Lindelof - Sandro

Matic

Fred Pogba

Bale Lukaku Sanchez

Happily sub in Smalling for Jones. Unlike many I think Bailly is superb at right back. He’s got all the tools. Lindelof also started to look the part at the end of the season. He’s had a year to settle in, and his playmaking ability is much needed out of the back.

This is what I'd like to see next season based on who we are talking about:

David De Gea (Romero)
Valencia (Dalot) - Bailly (Smalling/Lindelof) - Alderweireld (Rojo) - Sandro (Young)
Matic (Toure / TFM)
Fred (Herrera) - Pogba (McTominay)
Griezmann (Lingard) - Lukaku (Rashford) - Sanchez (Martial)

In: Fred (Done), Dalot (Done), Alderweireld, Sandro, Toure, Griezmann
Out: Jones, Shaw, Fellaini, Mata, Darmian, Blind

Shaw doesn't have a chance under Mourinho and see him keeping Young ahead of him, so off he goes.
Would like to see Toure come in, especially if it's only £1 weekly wages, he can cover Matic so he doesn't have to play all the time.
Griezmann coming to United is what I've wanted since I started hearing rumours, want him over Bale, as he's younger, probably better and not injury prone.
Sandro for me is a must, we need a new LB, United are exposed down the left when the opposition attack.

This would be absolutely perfect imo. If we can lock up Sandro and Griezmann we would absolutely be challenging for the title.

That is a fierce lineup and also a TON of options to switch up formation and personnel as needed.

Even just getting Sandro at this point would be massive.

De Gea (Pereira+Henderson)

Husaj (Dalot) - Bailly (Lindelöf) - Alderweireld (Tuanzebe+Jones) - Alaba (Young)
Fred (Fosu-Mensah) - Pjanic (Matic) - Pogba (McTominay)
Griezmann (Lingard) - Lukaku (Rashford) - Alexis (Martial)

24 players in the squad. Should give room for some youngsters in the cup matches, and also have enough quality (first 11 + in depth) to play for the titles in all competitions.

New signings: Husaj (Napoli), Alaba (Bayern), Pjanic (Juventus), Alderweireld (Spurs), Griezmann (Atletico) + Fred & Dalot.

Škriniar renewed contract with Inter until 2023.
If we don't sign another attacker, then it could be something like this:

De Gea
Dalot - Alderweireld - Bailly - Sandro
Fred - Matić - Pogba
Rashford
Lukaku - Sanchez
...Or Sanchez behind Lukaku and Rashford/Martial. But I hope we sign a top RW and play 433.

Fair enough, I really do like the idea of Rashford as a second striker/10. I think it's his best position and hopefully we'll see more of it.

Koulibaly, Bale and any decent LB, with Shaw going on loan for a year to get a season and his confidence back, somewhere like Newcastle or Burnley or Brighton would probably jump at the chance of a LB of his quality for next season.

Sanchez-Lukaku-Bale
----Pogba----Fred----

LB-Koulibaly-Bailly-Valencia
--------De Gea----------

Looks solid. We can drop a midfielder and play Lingard, Martial, Rashford or Mata against weaker sides if we want to play 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2.

CB
. Koulibaly is the best CB we can get. He is younger than Alderweireld/Boateng. The problem is the price, Napoli would ask 100m for him. Also, Ancelotti would like Koulibaly to stay. Lenglet has a cheap release clause, or we can wait next year to sign Alderweireld for 25m (if we can't sign him for 40m this summer).

LB. IMO we need replacements for Young and Valencia, now that we signed Dalot as potential RB for the future, then we need a LB who is ready for the first eleven. Sandro would be the obvious choice. If Mou wants to sign a young LB, then Tierney and even Sessegnon are good options.

CM. Mourinho said that this is the most important are to improve, he would sign 2 midfielders (If Fellaini goes). We already signed Fred... I would go for Thiago or Verrati who are top midfielders and it seems that they could be available this transfer window. If we manage to sign one of them, I would sell Herrera who wants to play more than last season. Verrati could end up being Matic replacement in the future... This sounds unrealistic, but we signed Pogba and Sanchez, so anything can happen. RM have Casemiro, Kroos, Modric, Isco, Kovacic and Ceballos... so we can have another quality midfielder.

LW. Talking about "unrealistic", well signing Bale would definitely be difficult... mainly because Madrid will ask crazy money for him and he is on high wages (similar to Sanchez). But he is what we need to challenge the big teams. If we can't sign him, then Dybala or Griezmann would be good options. I prefer a world class player in our attack than potential (we already have Rashford and Martial for that).

Maybe during 2 transfer windows we can sign 7 players and sell/release 10 as you proposed.

I think we should get at least a RW and a LB this summer.

If we sell Martial, I hope we can sign a top player like Dybala.

Not if we're going to play him on the right.

Sanchez/Martial - Lukaku/Rashford
Dybala/Lingard
Pogba/Pereira - Matic/Herrera - Fred/McTominay
Back four with proper fullbacks.
De Gea
Also, Lingard is also better as No.10 than a winger. If we sign Sandro and Alderweireld we would have a great and balanced team.

I'm so glad the World Cup is on and we don't have to rely on measly scraps of transfer info for entertainment

It looks like Fellaini is going to sign a new contract and Mourinho seems happy with Young as our LB. So maybe he will try to sign William (and sell Martial) and that would be it.
That would be far from my ideal team with players like Alderweireld, Sandro and Bale, but it seems that is a realistic scenario, not ideal, but realistic.

I think we are going to end up buying 2 more players, hopefully a RW and a LB.

Hopefully some internal progression from Rashford, Martial, Lingard and Sanchez. Because our attack is still a bit weak bar Lukaku.

Otherwise we should go for Sandro.

If our approach play and creating of chances improves, then I fully believe the players you mentioned will.

I believe Sanchez will step up. Along with Fred and possibly Sandro, our approach play should be better.

I do think we need a right winger, but im now starting to think Mourinho may use Rashford and Lingard there.

If we don't sign a RW, then I hope we change tactics. If we change our system with one CAM/No.10 playing behind 2 strikers, then we could get the best of our current players.

I can't remember what I put the first time but this time I've removed any unrealisitc elements in terms of formation and Martial or a top LB starting, and just added a CB that is probably unrealisitic but I don't think anymore unrealisitc than Alderweireld or Maguire.

Unless we buy anyone else at full back before the start of the season I think we should start Dalot and Shaw for the first 5-10 games and see where we get to.

A swap loan deal between Martial and Ousmane Dembele would benefit all parties. Dembele would get a chance to play on the RW and we need a RW. Martial would offer balance as he could play on the LW as part of the front three (Martial --- Suarez --- Messi).

Our Front line could easily be Sanchez --- Lukaku --- O Dembele

I would get Thiago & Sandro for 60m & 45m respectively which seems realistic

O Dembele could be a straight loan swap.... So we would be good in that sense

Lingard as a winger? Don't you prefer Lingard as a CAM?
In that formation, Lukaku would play as a target striker (similar like vs France).
Maybe, if we play Sanchez and Lukaku up front with a top No.10 behind them with Lingard as a cover, we could get the best out of our players.

Sanchez/Martial would drift to the left while Lukaku would show other attributes with that freedom (similar like versus Brazil).

There are not many quality RW left, so a quality CAM who creates goal opportunities for our strikers and score goals could be a good option.

We would need to sign a LB like Sandro and a No.10 similar to Dybala, Isco, James, Fekir, Eriksen, etc. IMO that could be better than signing William to cross the ball to Lukaku.

I don't think Shaw will leave this season, no takers. But I can realistically see Young to be trusted again at LB.

-----------------------De Gea---------------------
Dalot----------Bailly---------Lindelof-------Young
---------Fred---------Matic----------Pogba--------
---------Lingard------Lukaku----------Sanchez---

I don't see another major signing for the first 11, just because we have to get rid of one player for each position. After all, our squad size is too big now.

I also think that Mourinho would continue with Young, Dalot can play as a RB and LB, so he will offer a cover for Young/Shaw if needed.

We didn't have too many problems at the back last season. The main problem was the attack, we didn't create enough opportunities. I think we need a RW instead of Lingard to improve our attack.
