Your greatest Football Manager achievements?

Took over QPR recently when they were 18th. Got them into Europa League. Next season won the Europa League and got them third.

My favourite accomplishment was taking over Colombia. Lead them to the World Cup and managed to win the thing. I was incredibly lucky with my draw. Got Italy in the final who were pre-tournament favourites and they took the lead within the first few mins and I thought here we go... but managed to come back and win in injury time.

I also enjoy staying at clubs a long time and building team after team. With United in my current game and managed to over take Madrid's CL haul...

I made Villarreal multiple times winners of the Champions League, La Liga winners and all the other trophies.

How do they repay me? they name the new stadium after Manuel Pellegrini.

I know the feel.
I won the Champions League with Bournemouth.
Then they built a new stadium called Fletcher Arena named after some legend or something.

@Pentame here's an update for you if you are still interested.

I had a shocker of a third season, i didn't prepare them properly in pre season and by the time they gelled it was too late, finished a shocking 6th in the league, no european football.

Finished 3rd again the following season though but got knocked out of the UEFA Cup in the first round, started the following season and struggled to start with, so i reassessed and changed my tactics, i won 12 of my last 13 games which sadly was too late to overturn Rosenborg who are more annoying then United on this game, they have literally won the title every single year and like the ten years before the game starts, crazyness. I finished 2nd and I am currently 2-0 from the first leg of the UEFA Cup 2nd round.

Why the feck is it so difficult to keep players though? i have never experienced anything like it, every single player that starts playing well wants to leave, I have had the training facilities upgraded twice, we're playing well, they are praised in the media but they run their contracts down and leave, it's a massive pain in the arse!

 great stuff! I warned you about Rosenborg, they were unstoppable at that time. I remember them beating Chelsea 2-0 which was Mourinhos last game for them in the first spell. Do you have Miika Koppinen at TIL? He was the guy who scored the 1-0 or 2-0 goal on a corner/free kick.

Keeping players will always be tough at TIL. It isn't exactly a big club, and there are only 70.000 people living here. Look it up on the map, it's really far north in Norway. Great footballers wouldn't want to live here lol.

i had Koppinen, he was the first of the traitors, since the trasining upgrade i am getting loads of decent youngsters coming through which helps. i lost on pens to Galatasary in the UEFA Cup 3rd round, they equalized the tie in the 90th minute of the second leg!

That is so god damn typical of TIL. The mentality in the club is absolutely shit. TIL is a club that is afraid of winning anything. Whenever the team is looking good, we always sell our best players in the summer, which is in the middle of the season. We finished 2nd in the league not many years ago, and we'd have won if it wasn't for the fecking board and their anxiety of trophies (they sold the 2 best players in the summer). It's funny that it was Galatasaray who beat you, as we actually beat them out of the UEFA cup in 2005 (which is one of the few happy moments in the club history).

you might think it was funny, i bloody didn't! anyway, champions league this season, we haven't started the league that well but my focus is on the champions league and surprise surprise, my club captain and star striker both rejected contract offers in the close season and joined rosenborg, so we're adjusting but because of the ground and training ground improvements i have no money to spend at all so i am now relying on youth. In this version of the game there are 2 champions league group phases, if i manage to qualify for both then that's worth £3m which is massive to us.

No but it is getting really frustrating, the best i can report so far is a UEFA Cup quarter final which we lost on away goals to Inter after the tie finished 3-3. then we had a seeason where we just ran out of steam and lost 9 games in a row which was my fault because i beasted them in pre season to try and keep their fitness up, the opposite happened.

This in the first season of FM 15 now ranks as the best thing I've managed.

Ah, anyway quarter final is pretty good! Keep it going :smirk:

I done that with Chelsea once, but I had myself marked as unsackable.

Was hilarious, every few weeks the board would send me a message about how "incredibly disappointed" they were.
Awesome.

I loved the weekly wages that guy had players end up with - £1.8m for a bunch of absolute crap was brilliant :D

The opposite but I once got sacked as the Brazil manager in the middle of the World Cup. I pissed qualification and for some reason flopped in the group stage. Lost to Australia then drew to Nigeria. Had one game left and it was still possible for me to qualify (though not in my hands) but I got sacked after the Nigeria game.

What was odd for me was, I done it in such a way that Hull made about 400m, as did Bradford City in League One.

Hull went on to spend 5m, and Bradford 27k.
Weird. Maybe they had their % of transfer revenue setting really low?

In 14 I saw Moyes sacked about 4 days before the CL final. Which Man Utd won, poor sod.

Maybe, could be due to not having options to pick players of real quality too.

Won the champion 's league with Feyenoord against Ronaldo's (the old fat magnificent one) Inter Milan in a time where it was still called CM

@Rolandofgilead you too busy playing WW? :)

No seriously, sorry for giving you the challenge with such a shit club. How far did you get before you quit?
Champions league qtr final, It is probably the hardest challenge i have ever done, I still have the game saved, i will go back to it soon, i just decided to play FM for a bit and have a rest.

Wow, that's quite unbeleivable.

In real life, TIL just got promoted to the top division and the season started around a month ago. Everyone predicted TIL to at least manage mid-table but we're currently second to last with the stunning record of 1-2-7. My hatred of the club is immense. They never fail to disappoint.

I once got Rhyl to the CL group stage where I proceeded to get tonked every game.

Bumping this; Anyone got any shocking Moyes stories from FM14? Jesus christ he's absolutely mental. I rarely play United right from the start, I prefer to play lower leagues work my way up and take over a while after.

I went from QPR 13/14, 14/15 to City 15/16, 16/17, 17/18. Pretty much won the lot for 3 years straight with the outrageous funds they have.
Moyes trophy haul on my current save is: 13/14 - Community Shield, 13/14 - League Title, 15/16 - COC (beating City!).

Have a go at some of these signings from Moyes;

Morgan Schniederlin - 25m - Leaves to Madrid two years later for 7m after making 7 appearances.
Saphir Taider - (Inter 11m, Bologna 12m) - Leaves to QPR (after I left) a year later for 6m after making 1 appearance.
Domenico Berardi - (Juve 6m, Sassulo 6m) - Leaves to Dortmund a year later for 11m after making 1 appearance.
Kyle Walker - 17m (LOL) - Still there only made 1 appearance in two seasons.
Jordie Clasie - 29m (after Bayern paid 30.2m for him) - Leaves to Marseille 2 seasons later after making 1 appearance.

Completely bunter. Intriguing though. Spent an insane amount of money. Let Rooney go after the first season for 42m to Chelsea (they won the treble that season.. Lol)

Alexis Sanchez - 34m from Barca - Still there.
Angel Di Maria - 51m from Madrid - Still there.
Gino Perruzi - 31m from Bologna - Still there.
Bernard - 34m from Shaktar - Still there
Victor Wanayama - 48m from Southamton - Still there. (CRAZY!)
Joe Allen - 19m from Southampton - Still there. (LOL)
Clement Grenier - 29m from Lyon - Still there.
Vadillo - 24m from Dinamo Moscow - Still there.

His status has changed from Stable to Very Insecure after I resigned and declared inetrest in United and he's just made these signings.
Maicon - 39m from Porto.
Di Sciglio - 57m from Milan.
Mauro Icardi - 22.5m from Sampdoria.

Bloody hell, I can just imagine the Caf melting down at the sight of it.

4 European Cups, 6 EPL in a row, Sextuple on 2 occasion, average age of only 24, breaking 140 league goals barrier, 100 pts record, shitloads of records, it's like pokemon after a while, it's not about winning, but finding the next big wonderkid and develop them into something great, selling them on their 30

Promoted with Real Oviedo via play offs out of Spanish third tier.

Qualifying for Europa league with Sporting Gijon.

Winning Uefa cup/Europa league with both Newcastle and West Ham.

I had a W. Bremen save two three years back

At the stage of consistently winning things but not being able to buy top talent due to financial restrictions

Constantly getting turned down for stadium upgrade

I quit eventually and went on holiday, turns out they expanded the stadium a few months after i left -_-

Then..... I was offered the Liverpool job.

Needless to say I jumped at the chance to take this challenge on!! I set about removing any dead rubber (ie their young prospects) for pittance, next stage get the high earners of the books (ie their first team squad)
With the ground work done next I set about rebuilding with a core (filling the team with) of talented (utterly shite), promising (more potential in hangover turd), Welsh youngsters from my scouting pool (free transfers)
With the boards approval I tied them down for their best years (putting them on daft contracts of 150k a week, all max bonuses etc) i reinforced the team with some experience (spending any money they had on tosh old useless trollops) I felt my job was done, I did not require to oversee the inevitable glory which would no doubt follow and resigned from post

The next manger (I can't recall his name, I assume it was Rafa) however could not find success, or win a game, he managed to destroy what I had built and dragged club to the depths while bankrupting them.

This is my greatest achievement!

(disclaimer, it isnt but makes a better tale than one were you win everything for 100 years)

I haven't played FM since about 2002. Reading some of these stories it seems the game has come leaps and bounds.

Might give it another try to see what it's all about!

Greatest achievement in a FM type game has to be winning the league on goal difference in SoccerManager after recouping a 22 points deficit against @Barney

Broke the monopoly in Scotland like Sir Alex with Livingston I think. It might have still been called championship manager at that time (when it was still Rangers and Celtic). I signed some great players for cheap and dominated Scotland and in Europe. I had to quit playing as I was too good.
