Your greatest Football Manager achievements?

You should replace Van Gaal in a few years.
And why did you stop playing?
I didn't but i have only achieved very similar things in FM and beyond and figured it would all get a bit boring. I still play cm01/02 and I am happy to accept any challenge if anybody is willing, I will upload the .sav file too to prove that i didn't cheat.

Win the Champions League with Tromsø IL :D It would be unbeleivable.

FM08: World Cup semi-finals: San Marino 9-0 Spain

I've completed the San Marino Challenge and San Marino (the club) are the world's best club, so it's not outlandish for San Marino (the country) to now make the World Cup because there are a lot of decent Sammarinese players (they'd be a mid-table side in Serie A in a good generation and lower-mid-table in a bad generation). I consider them to be in the "third tier" of Europe - assuming the likes of Spain and Germany are the top tier, and the likes of England and Belgium the second tier. Back to this match - goals just kept going in. And in. And in. It should have been double-digits - I took off my best players early because I'd gone into extra-time in the previous two matches, and the whole squad was exhausted.

I went on to win the World Cup, but sadly, my best players were too old for the next one - it was really the sunset of a Golden Generation. I was lucky enough to have two world-class midfielders at the same time (who were first-choice for the San Marino (the club) too) and none of the teams since have come close. However, although it was a good team, it certainly isn't "9-0 better" than Spain. Past experiences suggested a narrow win was the best I could get.

That was about 60 years in-game time ago, and although I've won the World Cup with San Marino a couple more times between then and now, the team that smashed Spain 9-0 is by far my fondest team of all.

Amazing! I'd love to be kept updated as you play. Also, have you got any tips on how to go from a very good to a great FM player?
Not really. I am obsessed with 4-2-3-1, I love my players to pass and press, in very tight games i switch to a defensive stance and play balls over the top with a pacey front man. I will literally sell any player too if the offer is good enough. I am much better at any version of CM then i am at FM too to be honest.

Started the challenge now, we're in the Norwegian first division, but looking at the squad i have i will win the league easily and all being well at work i shouold have that down before i finish.

And when you say the Norwegian first division, do you mean Tippeligaen (tier 1 division) or the actual 1. division which is the 2nd tier division? If you start the game in january 2015, TIL will be in the Tippeligaen.
Also keep in mind that the transfer windows are open from January throughout March and from July throughout August.

I'm doing it on cm01/02 as that's what i have available so i started in march '02. we're currently in the 2nd tier so i have to get promoted before i can even think about qualifying for the champions league, then with the season starting in April that's going to be interesting too.

EDIT: I won my first league game 5-1, this first season is going to be easy.

Ah ok cool. Who are your star players? Do you have one called Roger Lange? He's my neighbor lol

Yeah he's my star Centre half at the moment, my star player is Morton Gamst Pederson, although he wants to leave for a bigger club so I keep taking him off to show him who's boss. I have played 6 won 6 scored 22 conceded 2 so far.

@Pentame are Odd Grenland any good? they are in the division above me and i just beat them 5-1 away in the cup!
Not very good back then. Mid/bottom table league. They have been great for the last couple of seasons though, but that's quite ahead of time for you :)
Rosenborg was pretty much unstoppable back then. They won everything.

Ok, good to know. I have just drawn a game which pissed me off, played 8 won 7 drawn 1 lost 0

FM14. Took RB Leipzig from league 2 to league 1 and then to the bundesliga in successive seasons and actually won the bundesliga title in the 1st year too. Won the CL the next year iirc, not sure.

Getting Flixton FC (9th tier) to the prem. Then my hard disk crashed...

I once managed to take Gretna up from the Second Division in Scotland in FM06, which was around the time that they started their march through the leagues in real life. I was in the SPL for a few seasons, gradually improving until I was eventually challenging Rangers and Celtic for the league. I was third in the SPL when I got an offer from Wolves to go to the Championship with a massive wage budget (relative to my budget at Gretna) and around £15 million to spend. I was sure it would be brilliant and thought it was the right time to move on - although I did ponder over the decision for two or three days in real life.

Anyway, Wolves were a shambles and I was sacked less than 12 months later and moved on to a job at Norwich. I was chasing promotion with them, before the save file corrupted. I wish I had just stayed at Gretna, built the club up, won a few league titles and got into Europe. After I left, they slowly slid back down to the SPL, mainly due to their limited finances.

When they got promoted to the SPL in real life, I went to watch them when they came and played Falkirk. It was great to see some of my FM heroes in an actual match! Unfortunately, as I'm sure some of you are aware, the financial troubles struck in real life too and the club went into liquidation. They no longer exist, but a new start-up club now operates under a similar name and plays in an amateur Scottish league.

Beautiful!
I finished my second season before i went to bed this morning, I finished 3rd in the premier league, i was in the title race but lost to rosenborg and molde back to back which ended that, it should qualify me for the UEFA cup though, so onwards and upwards.

Wow that's extremly impressive! Haha i'm starting to believe that you're gonna win the CL.

Just done such a great achievement that it's too good for the game itself to even recognise.

Of course I bloody won the league as well, so easily that it's clearly not even acknowledged as an accomplishment though. Seriously, took me years to do this. I usually lose one of the Charity Shield or the Super Cup or the League Cup. Should try and do that and then win the World Cup in the same 12 months next....though I got fired from Spain in this game.

There is only one challenge that matters, and thats the Dafuge challenge

http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/400804-dafuge-s-FM15-challenge

Skip a season, take a newly promoted club from the Conference North/South to Champions League glory.

The Aim

For the tenth year running the aim is the same - to take a small club who were previously unplayable in an unedited game from the Vanarama N/S to Premier League and Champions League glory.

The Rules

Load a game with the English leagues only, with the Vanarama N/S selected. All of the boxed should be left unticked apart from 'do not add key staff' and 'prevent use of in-game editor'. It should look like this.

Just like previous years, the players for the newly playable clubs need to be added which can be done using a custom database. The players from the three feeder league have to be added, which looks like this. If people wish to add extra players, any players from continents may be loaded, but not from individual countries. This is hopefully to provide a challenging game later on, without making the lower leagues too easy with too many cheap talented players available.

The extra levels of detail that you can change while in the game are up to you, as they shouldn't make a difference.

Add yourself as an unemployed manager, the details are not important at all. I like to call mine 'Holiday Man'.

Go on holiday until 25th June, this shouldn't take too long, perhaps about an hour. Turning off autosaving during this time will speed things up. Saving on 24th June may give you a better choice of teams by reloading the game then going on holiday for one day, I would strongly recommend trying this.

Retire your 'Holiday Man' manager. He had one job, he has succeeded and as a result he is no longer needed.

Add a new manager, the personal details are completely up to you but I would expect people to use their own true nationalities and languages spoken. Coaching badges must be set to 'None', with past playing experience set as 'Sunday League Footballer'. The coaching attributes are completely up to you.

When adding a new manager, choose one of the new clubs promoted to the Vanarama North or South to manage. A quick way to check the new teams is to find the 'England Overview' team, then the 'season summary'. Just above the FA Cup summary you should find a list of six new teams.

They should appear in this list which shows the reputation of the possible clubs. The reputation should act as a difficulty level. The lower the reputation, the harder your game should be.

(reputations taken from FM14 as a guide, until FM15 values are available)

It is now up to you to manage this club all the way to the Premier League title and UEFA Champions League crown.

You may not move clubs unless you are sacked.

If you get sacked, you can either take over a newly promoted club that satisfies the original criteria (check the club's league history), or just start again.

Any form of international management is not allowed, until you have completed the challenge.

Assigning parent clubs and loaning players is completely up to the player, although it should be noted that on occasions a parent club can lend players which will make the first season or two slightly less of a challenge. It is completely up to you how you play this one, but everyone knows real men don't use parent club loans. Personally, I like to assign a parent club for financial benefits but never take any players on loan from them.

To sign a player, you must be able to scout them, this doesn't mean you have to, just he must be accessible to your scouts. If you have a foreign player on a free transfer who is willing to come on trial, you do not need to be able to scout them, as long as you have them at the club on trial so you can get a coach report on him. If an agent offers you a player, you can sign him without scouting him.

No external utilities such as scouting programs should be used and the database should be unedited (with the exception of cosmetic changes which cannot be discussed here). Should SI release a data update, this would be allowed but any other data updates are not.

Just as always, no extra leagues can be loaded for the extent of the challenge. Once the challenge is completed, you have the freedom to do what you want.

Use of save game editors is strictly banned, whatever the reason. Ticking that box at the start should see to this.

I always used to try it but never got further than League Two. It's really hard, because your club is just, so, small. It also takes at least 7 years.

Hmm, it'll probably take closer to 15 years if you do it properly. I guess the biggest challenge is to not get sacked early on. You know what, I'm going to have a go at this challenge right now. Just won the CL with Bournemouth and I need a new challenge.

I'd love to see the save numbers on some of the games for that challenge.

@rcoobc I took over FC United of Manchester.. They just got promoted, but the problem is that they are predicted to finish 2nd and they have a wage budget of 9.000 p/w which seems high?

If I do the challenge with them, without loaning players from parent clubs, have I done the challenge properly then?

I dunno!

On the most recent one I somehow manages to win the Champions League with Burnley in my third season

For some reason Assaidi was absolutely incredible. It kind of felt like cheating playing him.

Did that before(fm 14), managed to sign this young egyption striker when I was in league two who had insane stats. Won the Ballon D'or 7 times through out his career and all for my small club :D

Took Bradford Park Avenue straight from the Conference North to winning the CL in their 2nd PL season.

Won everything with an entirely Italian Roma side, including taking over Italy and winning the World Cup and Euros with only Roma players.

Winning the CL with Stabaek.

In 14 I won La Liga with Bilbao in the first season.

Won La Liga with Marino who were in 3rd division when I took over. Took a screenshot of the league table in one of the FM threads.
