What are your greatest Football Manager achievements?
And for the love of god, don't lie or exaggerate. Just think about how sad it is to do so just to impress people on an internet forum.

Here are mine:

-I qualifyed my local team Tromsø IL to the Champions League group stage in FM09 or FM10 I think. There, I went on to beat AC Milan 0-2 at San Siro. I remember that I used an instruction where I told my players to provoke the opposition or something like that. Milan got two red cards in the game . Too bad that the instruction was removed in later FM games.

-In FM13 I developed a squad at Arsenal where all the 25 players were home-grown in the club. I went on to win several Champions Leagues and league titles with that squad. It took me only 5-6 seasons to build the squad.

-I won the league with Stoke in FM12 or 13. Took me around 5-6 years to build the title-winning team, just when the regens start to become world class. The funny thing is, which was not planned at all, is that all of my attackers (IIRC) in my starting XI were taller than 190cm (6ft3)

-A few months ago, I finished 3rd and won the FA cup in the league with Bournemouth in my 5th season. I had the craziest team and I should have finished higher. I quit because I was given a transfer budget of £0 even after qualifying to the CL. It was one of the worst FM moments ever for me as I felt that that game could become one of my best ever games.

All occured on FM08/FM09

Then my greatest.

I took over Braintree United in the Southern Conference. We were predicted to finish midtable. I managed to win us the league. I left hoping for a League 2 team, no one wanted me, so I took over Torquay who were in the Conference Premier league. Similar to my time at MK Dons in another save, I got them up to the PL. First season I finished midtable. Second season, I believe I finished 8th and won a cup, so got European football. This helped me sign some good players. Didn't win the EL, but managed to finish in the CL spot that season. My team was looking good, but not quite strong enough, but we challenged for a title, finishing 2nd. In my 5th season, we finally did it and won the PL. The CL was difficult though, think it was AC Milan who knocked me out. Managed to win the first leg at home, but then we got hammered. I won the league 3 years in a row and then got my CL in that 3rd year. Good times. I remember leaving them, and while they stopped challenging for titles, Torquay remained a team that would at least be in the Europa league.

Second favorite was winning the league in my first season with Wigan on FM08. Jason Koumas was the star of the league. 3 years down the line at Wigan, my boy Henri Saivet smacked in a hatrick against Barcelona in the CL final to give us a 3-2 victory.

In FM 13 I won the Champions League with Aberdeen in my second season having signed about 4 players, all transfer listed from the bottom of La Liga. Got a stupid run playing Anderlecht In the Semi and a 120th minute winner from Scott Vernon to beat City in the final.

Please tell me that you joined Man Utd after that. If not, you better go back to that game and somehow get the Man Utd job.

I'm just playing with United on FM14, I was just planning to have some fun with a big team for a couple of seasons but I got addicted to winning and building a legacy. I've won 13 leagues, 5 European Cups and 5 FA Cups in 15 seasons. Last season was my 4th European Cup in a row and back to back trebles.

Is FM easy on purpose to keep you happy and addicted? I don't even do any research or really tweak my tactics.

Championship Manager 01/02. I managed to convince a 38 year old Henrik Larsson who was just out of contract with Juventus to sign for my division 2 side Lincoln City and he said the reason he signed was because he had a lot of respect for the manager

Championship manager? Completed it.
I got so good at it they offered me a role in the England set-up.
I took Woking from the conference to the champions league in 6 seasons, that kind of stuff doesnt go unnoticed.

Not the greatest achievement ever seen but probably my favourite save game of FM history was a network game with my uni housemates about 7 years ago.
We randomised Premier League teams and whilst they got teams like Arsenal and Everton, I landed the mighty Portsmouth.
Splunked my entire transfer budget along with every clause I could throw at the deal and signed Rafael van der Vaart right at the start of the game. He absolutely carried me all season from centre mid, scoring most of my goals and assisting all the others. After finishing 5th I got a bit more money and signed Kevin Doyle, Ben Foster, Eboue and funnily enough a giant centre back/mid called Fellaini for about £700k.
The team played amazing football and although I never won the league with that team I got Portsmouth into the Champions League 3 years running playing brilliant football.

Anyone else get really happy when they sign someone in FM they've never heard of before who then gets bought by a Premier League club in real life (like this Fellaini deal)? Seemed to happen a lot on the old games, not so much anymore.

Wow, impressive that you don't get bored! I always quit after I've won the league and the Champions League because I don't feel like there's anything more to play for.

And yeah, it's quite easy to manage the top clubs if you're somewhat skilled.

It has happend a shitload of times for me over the recent years. I discovered Lukaku on FM when he was 17. Was really cool when Chelsea signed him. I also discovered Hazard before there was any fuzz about him so it was pretty fun when he became big and went to Chelsea. FFS why do Chelsea buy all my great discoveries?

I got bored a while back but I picked it up again recently. I think I'll keep on going until I overtake Real on European Cups! Just got knocked out by City in the quarters though :(

It's cool rebuilding team after team, Fergie style.

I went years unbeaten in the league with CSKA Moscow(6) and City (4) in 09 and 10.

I was about to brag about my same journey, but it took longer. I refused to pay outrageous wages.

Lovely to hear! I'm disappointed that I haven't really achieved anything with Man United in FM. I always get unbeleivably annoyed by how wrong the players are rated. Here are some examples of reasons why I never manage United in the beginning of my games:
-Young is pure dogshit in the game. His current ability is 140 which is around the level of decent Championship players.
-Smalling is also incrediblty underrated.
-Falcao is a god in the game.
-Carrick is shit.
-Valencia is rubbish. Absolutely rubbish.
-Rooney gets completely shit after one season. I'm yet to not see the club not putting him on the reserve team and trying to get rid of him within the first couple of seasons. Seriously, it happens every single time.
-McNair has a potential of 127. He wouldn't even make it in my local team Tromsø IL.

Edit: McNairs potential is probably -8 or something but he will never develop into a decent PL centre back.

I guess I could enjoy managing the team after a couple of seasons where everything is different anyway, and sometimes I do, but whenever my games has reached the point where I accept job offers from the top teams, it's usually close to the end.
I have made database chances on the players many times but it always feels like cheating. You can't brag about a game where you have done that.

Bradford City FM08.

League Two to CL final in 9 seasons. It all started with Rafaelle De Vita on loan (who subsequently actually plays/played for them recently).

By the time I made the PL my team had Gibson, Carrick, Jagielka, Billy Sharp and generally average players, I went all regen crazy and bought so many u18s to train up.

Eventually a bunch of made up names had me doing a Dortmund to the point I was have to sell top players and losing a couple on frees, whilst slowly sliding down and getting sacked having set my expectation to winning the league and getting the budget to match.

Man United on 2013 finished 6th in fergies last season in the year 2014, and I had just won the world cup with england with terrible inuries resulting in huddlestone, and a few others in a makeshift midfield winning against Russia one nil with a daniel sturridge goal from the wing . Got United to win the league on the trot for ages and then lost the save game after CL success :(

I've been playing '14 so I haven't had those issues. They must have made United a lot worse after one bad season.

Winning Champions League with OB Odense, FM07. Even tougher than winning it with a Championship side for example because you just cannot bring top talent to Denmark. I still remember some of the scores - in the qualifying round I had PSG, drew 1-1 away and won 5-2 at home. Real Madrid in last 16 game, drew 2-2 at home, won 3-1 away. Shakhtar in quarters - 3-0 at home, 0-0 away. Then 2-1 against Chelsea in the final.

And lately, finishing season with 35 wins and 3 draws at Valencia. I think 26 wins in a row to start the season before I dropped my first points.

My achievements aren't comparable to some of you but still.

Playing FM2012, I went until the world cup 2018. I coached United and won:
- the league every year, on the last 5 years or so the difference with the second was higher than 10 points
- I won UCL on 5 of those 7 seasons. Once I got eliminated in semis, and once lost the final.
- Won around 5 FA cups, 3 or 4 Carling Cups, charity shield every year and won the European Supercup and FIFA world cup for clubs 5 times each.
- I also coahced Ivory Coast and won the world cup with them on 2014. Seydoy Doumbla was a beast.
- Then I took England and finished runners up on Euro 2016. Italy defeated me in the finals after I came back from 3-0 to win 4-3 against Spain in the semis.
- Got France for WC 2018 and won the world cup with them.
- I had a very young squad with some of the top regens in that save.

Save got lost when my HDD died. Since then I haven't played FM.

I had a save with Leverkusen on 11'

Still got it now, played unto 2057. TBH 60% of that was on holiday though but not my time at Leverkusen, Schalke and the two WC I won with Italy/England. I holidayed through my seasons at the other jobs I had like Wolfsburg, Brazil, PSG, Chateroux, Liverpool, Czech Replubic, Argentina and Lyon.

If I remember correctly I started at Wolfsburg then got to Leverkusen and stayed until around 2024. I was England manager when I left but pretty much holidayed until the 2026 world cup which is also when I joined Schalke. Stayed there two years and left and struggled to find a place I liked holidayed roughly 19 years until I was given a return to Leverkusen back in 2046. It's currently 2059 and I'm still at Leverkusen on the save right now.

1705 games
1251 wins
250 draws
204 losses

GF 4072
GA 1121
GD 2951
Win Percentage 73%

63 Cup Wins
23 League Wins

Loved that save!

I won successive League 2, League 1, Championship, Premiership, European Cup with Chesterfield and am currently well on my way to defending the European cup and Premier league with the League cup won and in the semi finals of the FA cup as well.

I basically managed to buy a couple of 15 year and 16 year olds who turned out to be good then very good and are now world class coupled with a bunch of south american kids some of who have been fantastic and some just very good but who have turned a huge profit for me

prior to this I had typically played as united / barca / psg etc where after about 5-10 seasons there is nothing left to do but I figure with Chesterfield it will take a couple of decades to get the ground / infrastructure fully built

I usually play with United on the game, because of familiarity with the team, but I did get West Brom to the Champion's League knockout stage once. Managed to beat PSG in the group stage at home (although Zlatan destroyed me away).

Took 2 small clubs Fc Eindhoven in Holland and Bochum FC in Germany to the top of their leagues, winning several titles and becoming CL mainstays.

I actually find the building of smaller clubs and battling through the league's much funner than just buying the best players in the game and steamrollering clubs, get's pretty boring after a while.

It also makes you appreciate all the players in the game, your Bolasie's etc suddenly turn into much wanted targets  You can generally find some real gems with scouting foreign countries too, as they usually have great technique players for a low price.

Won the league with Everton a few years ago in the 1st season.

A few months ago, I started a new game with Bournemouth. I took over in 2015 when they got promoted to the PL.
The first two or three seasons, my transfer budget was on around £25-30 million pounds (which isn't much since I needed to increase the wage budget in order to sign new players so my budget was really on around 15-20).
The fourth and fifth season, I had a budget of around 10 million IIRC.
For my sixth season, my budget was on £0. I finished third in the league the season before so I needed to make a lot of improvements to the squad since I was playing in Champions League. I ended up taking a long break from the game, and I decided to continue it a couple of days ago. In my last couple of seasons, I only recieved 40% of the money the club recieved when selling players so it was really difficult to improve the team at times.

In my sixth season, despite having no money, I finished third yet again and lost the Champions League final. It was so fecking frustrating because I lost 1-0 after a goal in the second half of extra time. Still, this game I'm having with Bournemouth is probably my greatest achievement ever in FM. For my 7th season, which I just started, I had a transfer budget on £35 million so I'm going for the league and CL title this year. I'll win both of them within a couple of years, no doubt.

I won the Champions League twice, La Liga 4 times, Europa League once and Copa Del Ray 3 times with Bilbao.

This was also the worst thing ever.
Great achievement because of the transfer restrictions. How did you do it?

Spanish players can gain Basque eligibility if they are brought to the club before they are 16. So it was a lot of focusing on developing youth. Several times I would develop a world class player and then a big club would come calling. I'd hold them off till the end of the season and then sell for 50 million plus. Then I could buy another 5-10 youth players and develop them. Plus I eventually got the club's prestige high enough that I could bring in any Basque player I wanted once they turned 29 or 30 and their club was willing to sell.

Took over Ajax on FM 2011/12 and had my best game on it, my starting XI consisted of the following

GK- Jesper Cillessen

RB- Gregory van der Wiel
CB- Jan Ventonghen
CB- Toby Alderweild
LB - Nicolas Boillessen

DM - Mehmet Topal (Signed from Galatasaray 3 million)
CM - Christian Eriksen
CM - Siem de Jong

RW - Thulamani Serero
LW - Dusan Tadic (signed from Twente 2 million)
CF - Erick Torres (signed from FC Guadlajara 4 million at 18 years of age)

First season won the Eredivise and Dutch Cup with a squad all 23 years old and under and then brought in Mehmet Topal and sold Kenneth Vermer, Van Riijn. Sigthorrson.

My second season my front three were absolutley devastatiing, Torres at 19 scored me 36 goals in all competitions, Serero was like a young Ronaldo and banged in about 18 and Tadic about 15, Eriksen and De Jong done well too, I won the league on level points with Heracules (Armenteros there sweedish striker was a goal machine) and also won the Europa League knocking out Stoke, Leverkusen, Napoli and beating Atletico Madrid in the final (also made a profit every year in transfers)

Third and final season was my first in teh Champions League and got to the knock out stages beating Valencia in the last 16 but got thrashed by United in the quater finals, won the league with everybody continuing there form from last season and accepted a job at Arsenal before getting sacked within 8 months because I had no striker (RVP was never fit, Arshavin wanted to leave and Bentnder couldnt score for his breakfast, basically relied on Walcott to carry me but finished 9th even after bringing in Lewandowski in the summer I was sacked)

Brought Barnet to the Prem with consecutive promotions (two seasons in championship) and finished 11th in my first season in the prem, with the youngest squad in the league.

Ok here goes.

Championship manager 1 - won the European cu with Sunderland, bournemouth and United (Various saves, multiple times with united)

Championship manager '93 - Won the European cup with Bournemouth, Gillingham, Darlington and United (various saves, multiple times with United)

Championship Manager '95 update version - Won the European cup with Grimsby.

Championship manager 2 - Won the champions league with United, Arsenal, Rangers, Dundee United and Aberdeen.

Championship Manager 97/98 - Won the champions league with United, Southampton, Torino, Juventus and Celtic. Won the world cup and European championships with Spain, Won the European championships with Scotland. Took Bromsgrove Rovers (who were added as a playable team after they won promotion to div 3) from Division 3 to the Premier league and won the uefa cup before my hard drive crashed and i couldn't continue.

Championship Manager 3 - Won the quadruple with United, won the champions league with Dirty Leeds, won the world cup with England, all in the same save. Took Barry Town to the champions league group stage.

Championship Manager 01/02 - This could take a while...

Ok won everything in sight with United, multiple champions leagues, multiple world championships, 3 seasons undefeated.

Undertook and succesfully completed a challenge of starting with Lyon in france, winning the french title and the champions league and then moving to four other countries and winning the domestic league and the champions league, the teams must have nver won the champions league before, the teams were Lyon (France) Cagliari (Italy) Dusseldorf (Germany) Valencia (spain) and Arsenal (England) that was a gruelling challenge but was so much fun.

Took Yeovil from the conference to the premier league in back to back promotions, won the uefa cup, won the champions league back to back and eventually became manager of France where I won the world cup.

Won the champions league with Southampton without spending any money (I only allowed myself to buy players on frees)

Took Northwich Victoria from the conference to the champions league

You should replace Van Gaal in a few years.
And why did you stop playing?
