Yannick Carrasco - His Mrs says "Yes, they’re very interested"

just what we need another Left Winger*

I was also in the minority when I thought Rashford was a gem of a player even when people were in here thinking he was "average". We are extremely top heavy. I think we need some better defenders first before we spend money on more attackers. But hey im in the minority
As far as we are concerned and from what we’ve seen Sanchez is not the same player he used to be, Lukaku doesn’t fit the type of football we want to play, Lingard and Mata are two final third players with poor numbers, that leaves us with two players who can fit the system and who could provide decent numbers.

Martial and Rashford are good but we definitely need another one.

Second this. Was shocked to see he had moved to China at that age, considering he was a regular for absolutely top teams at both club and international level. A player of his ability shouldn't even be considering the quick Chinese buck until he's well over 30. Clearly values money way more than actually challenging for trophies.

As if most of United’s squad didn’t join the club for the money.

Lingard is an integral part to our side even with his "low" output , Sanchez was poor just like everyone else under jose in the last year, Lukaku is goin no where and offers something very different which is fine. He is still a huge goal scorer . Also pogba is basically an attacker in our set up as you can see from his numbers this season 9 and 10. More than anyone else. Definitely need another is a huge stretch and surely not where the focus should be. To me this seems like some one we were interested in pre Jose's sacking. While we can always upgrade on what we have attack and Gk are where we are most stacked with numbers and talent compared to everywhere else

I question any players dedication going to China in their early 20s. Shows they prioritise money over improving as a player. So no thanks.

So, if you worked for Google, and a chinese company offered you 10x your paycheck + house + services + visas for your familly to come with you + chauffer 24h etc, you would refuse?

To me sounds like they are playing up United interest to gain some attention to hopefully get a move back to Europe.

Him or Douglas Costa? To be honest, i would still rather have Jesse on the right and save the monies for someone else better

Both are average players because they never pass the ball! I'd keep Lingard ahead of both too.

Could he play full back? (No idea never heard of him) possibly a loan signing?

'Under the management of Diego Simeone in 2014, Carrasco performed brilliantly against rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League final but lost the game 4-1 in extra-time.' :nono:

Carrasco didn't even sign for Atletico until a full 12 months after that final. He played well as a sub in the 2016 final though. He was excellent as an impact sub and changed games that season like vs. Barca a few times and Bayern plus the final. Having said that he's not what we need. He's very up and down and has poor decision making in the final third. He has talent for sure but not the right mental makeup.

I came across a 10 min video of his highlights in China. It’s absolutely ridiculous. He looks like a Messi on steroids playing on a field vs players that seem physically handicapped.

He should never sign for a decent league again. Mostly because why should he for less than half money. And secondly, what top league team would take a player that is now finely tuned to playing against playground kids?

He was a very good player for Atletico. Would be ideal if we sign him and ship out Sanchez.

I think we have too many wingers.
None are out and out wingers though

Lingard, Mata, Sanchez all play the majority of the game infield.

I'm not suggesting we do sign Carassco because I'm not keen on players wasting peak years in China. His playing style would be useful in counter attacking games like Sundays though. His speed energy off the bench would've been perfect when under the cosh.

Does he play centre half or?

Arsenal are welcome to him.

Wouldn't want. Any player willing to write off and cash in on their career in China at the grand old age of 24 - no thanks.

Wasn't aware of the money laundering slant of his move to China. Taking that into consideration, I wouldn't mind taking a punt on him. Thought he was a good prospect, especially after his impact in the UCL final vs RM where he was instrument in getting AM into the game. Plus coached & used by Someone, which says something.

How exactly has he written off his career?

Not sure if his carrer is written off, but in my opinion it does show a lack of ambition.
Having said that who knows what his financial situation is and if China made him an offer he could not refuse from a financial perspective

Don't really get how it shows a lack of ambition if he wants to move back to Europe now. If he spent his prime years in China, sure, but that isn't the case here. He's unlikely to be any less of a player now, so it's almost as if he took a gap year really. Kind of similar to Paredes leaving Roma for Zenit and now moving to PSG a year or so later. Viewing it as a job, an (I'm assuming) huge salary increase for a year without obvious drawbacks (other than being slated on RedCafe) seems like a no-brainer if you aren't already a pretty big player competing for the top honours. It's easy to say that he should have waited until his 30s, but how could he be sure that an offer like this would ever come by again?

By choosing to go to China and play his football at the age of 24?

It's not that difficult to understand surely?
Ah, so that's his career cancelled then? I wonder why Arsenal are interested in someone who apparently won't amount to anything.

If you aren't a boyhood fan and so driven to win trophies you'd be play for free you just won't have the requisite desire to be good enough to compete for top four.

That doesn't mean his career is written off though is it? He's what, 24? He will still have offers from all the so called major leagues and probably have a good career regardless of a gap year in China. Was Witsels career also written off when he went to Zenit and then to China?

Yeah.

He surprised many by coming back and actually playing well, iirc.

He went for crazy money. Can you blame him? He’s got a short career. There’s no guarantee by the time he’s 30 that China or whatever will be paying that sort of money. They trying to clamp down on it in China. If he comes back to Europe and performs how we know we can then he’d be a good signing for anybody.

Apparently he's available around the £25-30 million mark. Arsenal are interested.

Might we worth a punt. It'd be a perfect Manchester United signing, Left sided attacker/winger when we already have 3 of them.

In all seriousness though, if we moved Sanchez and Rashford is always going to play central, might be good to have a talented cheap player on the left to challenge Martial for a spot.

We have James for that
