Can anyone recommend a good gaming monitor for the series S without going overkill? If I understand correctly, 2k is enough right?

What's yer price range? If high, I'd consider taking some of that money and splitting it up between getting a half decent monitor, a cheapish SSD for storage, and the new Xbox headset.

The sound alone improves gaming so much. 500gb isn't big enough for the Series S.

How much do you want to spend? I just bought a Dell S2721DGFA, I haven't got it yet, but it's highly recommended. You need to be careful, as some monitors cannot actually do 120hz@1440p for Xbox specifically(they can do it for PC, so it will be advertised as possible).

Xbox are drug dealers. They are going to bump this to £20 in a couple of years and I'm going to have to stump up the cash.

Some more titles being added to game pass soon.

Started Psychonauts in preparation for the sequel. It's a bit special isn't it?

Some more top down twin stick madness coming to gamepass on day one:

No sign of the LG 27gp950 coming to Ireland soon - so have taken the gamble on the Eve Spectrum. My payment link came today after the initial deposit I set a year ago. The outlay is quite cheap, I put a deposit on when it was priced a lot lower than it’s now retail price.

good few community testers rating the latest samples well so far. Can’t wait the play some games on it

Pity about the LG, they make some awesome panels. I've got my Series X connected to their CX oled and it's beautiful.

ya, was disappointed. Curry’s UK had it listed, overclockers had it on pre-order - so stock is some way off landing to the Emerald Isle.

But Eve are using the same, or very similar, LG panel. So it’s down to what hardware they use and how. Any discrepancies is just going to be Eves fudge up with hardware or firmware.

I started a new job this month. First payday is at the end of the week. It's going to take a lot of restraint not to buy a CX

You won't be disappointed. Best gaming TV on the market (bar the new C1) and the Series X takes full advantage of it.

have a look into the new Samsung micro led tv’s similar price range to oled and very very close performance

Curry's are doing an offer on LG tvs at the moment over 55", which is a 1 in 20 chance to get all your money back. Feeling lucky?
I’d just be pissed I didn’t win with those odds.

I ideally want something a bit smaller though, so will probably go with that other C-something (9?) at some point.

Cheers, will check that out

You can't go smaller than 55" with a C9, which is almost identical to the CX anyway. In fact, you can actually get a CX at 48".

The 55" QN85 is £1799. That is £100 more than the C1 and about £600 more than you can pick up a like sized CX for. It also doesn't appear to support Dolby Vision. It also only appears to have one HDMI 2.1 port, which if you also want to connect a PS5 or Soundbar/Receiver over eARC you would be out of luck. Both LG's have four HDMI 2.1 ports.

Ah that must be what I was thinking of then. My current tv at 40” is kinda perfect for the viewing distance at the mo so wouldn’t want to go bigger than 48”

It's worth saying that's not actually micro LED - could be a typo in your description, although I don't know if Samsung marketing are selling it as that.

Mini-LED is still backlit and has issues in common to standard LED. Proper micro LED is horrendously expensive, but coming in the next few years and is a real OLED competitor. That is self emitting and doesn't bleed blacks exactly like OLED.
