Xavi (Spanish Lego Pep) | Manager watch

Did I make this up but I’m sure his style of football at Barca wasn’t the possession based stuff you’d expect from Xavi?

I cant say I watched much of his Barca side but seen a few people have been quite critical of his style of football, what is it exactly? I mean he did win a league and cup in his first full season as manager there in a bit of a rough period for the club.

Crazy people seem to think this guys the answer.

I don't think he's the answer and will openly admit I'm blinded by the player he was, however just maybe can improve things and make us more attractive for a Nagelsmann/Inzaghi type manager

He won the league there so he’s not a terrible option but I agree that he’s not what we need. This club desperately needs someone who has a vision of cohesive exciting attacking football and excels at implementing that. Much like Flick has done at Barcelona or Maresca at Chelsea. Even Ange to a less effective degree at Spurs. That tactical revolution is what OT needs - to give the count the shot in the arm and modernise it.

Under Xavi, the football Barcelona played was very tumescent. He might have a vision that didn’t show but the fact that it didn’t show at a better team doesn’t bode well.

Getting more hope from what some Barca fans are saying on Reddit about his time managing them

I think he would crumble here. Go for Hoeneẞ, madman Nagelsmann or pragmatist Frank.

Perhaps Flick is benefitting from Yamal and a refreshed Lewa and of course knows the player well from Bayern. Eriksen for us looked dead but has had good season so far.

Not saying Xavi is the top appointment but in terms of star profile, better idea of build up play, soft spot for us I'd be willing to see him here. Not even Pep wanted to stick around blaming the club, sure both are high pressure jobs but there seems extra politics that Pep disliked.
