Xavi (Spanish Lego Pep) | Manager watch

Valverde should have been sacked at the end of his second season, as a response to the Liverpool fiasco, or allowed to finish the 19/20 season. The mistake they made is sacking him for the Liverpool game but half a year later.

Guess that’s his managerial career over. Can’t see him going anywhere els and don’t think many clubs would want him.
He might go to Leverkusen when Alonso leaves for Liverpool. Would at least fit their style.

Do you know that keeping him no matter what, doesn't magically improve things, though?

On here it does mate. On here if you keep any manager long enough, they become SAF, or more recently they become Arteta

Who's better? Only Modric and Pirlo are in the conversation really, maybe Matthaus too. Scholes was incredible also but not quite as technically refined as those four.
Gullit, Rijkaard, Zidane, Modric, KDB etc.

Honestly, Xavi was great but of all time, not for me.

Probably the best CM of all time but I don't see much potential in him as a manager sadly. What a fecking player though, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets as a midfield three will never be topped.

Best to play in that Barcelona and Spain system, for sure.

Definitely wouldn't suit other play styles as much though.

Pedri always injured...
Very sad. Had it in him to be a generational no.8, but Barcelona and Spain decided to commit child employment law crimes and made him play about 75 matches at the age of 18. Looking more and more like a Verratti/Thiago scenario.

I think he's very underrated as a manager

He pretty much was the system — that’s how good he was.

What deficiencies did he have that would make him "less suited' for other play styles?

Too short, too slow, not physical. I don't think Xavi would fit in a lot of teams, those that don't prioritise ball possession. Like Mourinho teams back in the day.

He struggled initially at Barcelona, they called him the windscreen wiper due to his sideways passing. Without Rijkaard and then Pep he might have had a very different career. Imagine Mourinho went there, he'd have been benched probably.

That is what Ole should have done, once you realise you are probably not good enough and it is not working

As much as I enjoy to see him struggling with Barcelona at least he has some dignity and pride to step down. Don't think he wasn't as bad for them but their club is a mess so I'm sure he's gonna end up managing them in the future.

If Jose went there, Messi would have been sold.

But I do think Iniesta was probably more versatile than Xavi and I preferred him.

You probably shouldn't do it at the end of January in the middle of a results crisis, though.

Whiny little shit. Deserved. Barsa been getting preferential treatment in Spain for so long that he forgot what getting red cards and penalties feels like.

I love to see this arrogant prick crying. He represents everything that is wrong with football, just like his despicable club.

Xavi Hernandez, the man who represents everything wrong with football.

Hmm, I can think of worst things that represent the worst of football.

He was the biggest cnut in Pep's Barcelona and is now the biggest cnut in Spotify's Barcelona.
