WWC23 | England v Spain - Spain win the World Cup - and Rubiales gets sacked

I agree with this. We're very obsessed in this country with the size or frame of a player. How often do we hear that "this player is too small for the Premier League" or "this player is too weak"? Technical ability is very important.
On the flipside, you see even midtable teams can bully our midfield, as discussed on other threads, because they have genuine acceleration and power. A quick powerful player with some kind of footballing intelligence and understanding with his team-mates can tear an ostensibly organized midfield line to shreds. Even 'technical' players, like City's, when playing for the best sides, have a certain toughness and short-acceleration alongside the ability to pick up pockets of space, move the ball quickly and play 1-2's, but also, crucially, are surrounded by quick players, at least 50% of the team, whether the full-backs or one of the centre midfield alongside forwards. We've given players like Donny too much leeway in the past because we assume that they just need to be played in a more quick passing orientated system, as opposed to looking at physical and even certain technical shortfalls in addition to undeniable structural issues. City don't make those kinds of excuses.

But, yeah, England women's team -very good overall but still shown up too often in this game against a real technical side with enough juice to also press them across the pitch, and could do with at least one higher-level midfield player to orchestrate things (alongside a bit more sheer pace up top tbf)

I’d bring James on for Toone and if nothing changes, then we need to sacrifice one of the midfielders for Beth England.

What a crazy half. Think England are kind of lucky to be in the game still. Getting outnumbered in midfield. Toone has been playing far too separated from the other two

I think she needs to be closer to Russo. They have a great understanding, and when Russo receives the ball, she has no one making themselves available, consequently we lose the ball.
Too many times we play the ball back to our back three, which Spain read and close down quickly.

I like it. Might as well make the tactical changes now when you can speak to them for 15 minutes, rather than an hour in and trying to organise it while the ball is in play.

Spain are committing so many players to the high press, if we can only get through it there would be acres of space behind them. We need to move the ball more quickly and more accurately.

Bernardo Silva is a prime example.

Sorry my mistake, i didnt know that. Then traitor is the correct word for her.

she clearly believes in the arsenal project more and doesn’t believe in the United one. Surely though, if you’re a fan you’d want to be part of the change, especially coming off our best ever season.

That is a yellow card? :annoyed: :nono:

Just feck off, Penso! You and your husband (the MLS's own worst idiot Chris) both suck as referees.

Feck it’s honestly the first time I’m watching a full match of women football and that cross was probably better than anything I’ve seen from United lads this season
