WSL Cup 24/25 QF | United v City - 7pm Wed 22nd Jan

Hahathe commentator actually thought the City keeper was really injured. Is this his first time watching women’s football?

From my angle pretty much in line with the incident, it looked like Keating wiped herself out pretty bad. Still doesn't excuse the clearest penalty I've seen in a while.

Goalkeeper chosing the wrong side to take the goal kick without getting booked. They better add 12 minutes time to this fecking joke!

All falling apart for United now. Mistake after mistake. Very disappointing, City were there for the taking.

I love how that potential penalty has been completely swept under the rug by the officials and the commentator though.

It was swept under the rug so much that they declined to show a replay of it.

Anyway, we got beat by a City side missing, Greenwood, Miedema, Bunny and Hemp if not more. So that sucks!

The last 20 minutes looked like we never had played an attack before and had no clue at all how to go forward or create anything at all.

The postive news is that we would never have beaten Arsenal away and Chelsea in the final anyways, so in that sense it was best to go out tonight and not waste energy :D

I actually feel a bit better thinking like that.

It’s fecking Orwellian how it has been entirely erased from history. Straight in the memory hole.

Jesus I checked the Arsenal score like 10 mins ago and it was 0-0.

Just looked and it's 4-0 now

Felt like City were there for the taking, but we handled the game pretty poorly. Mannion was poor defensively, and aimlessly hoofing the ball forward giving the ball away far too much. Last 20 minutes was so bad, Toone I think had one touch when she came on and it was a mis-controlled touch from a bad pass to her by Sandberg. Terland with a near identical miss to the one she had at the Etihad. And of course the ref seeing a stonewall penalty and giving it as a foul the other way, but what’s new there?

Finally home, awful drive to cap off an awful evening. They had the beating of us in the first half, too many of ours weren't at the races. We were much improved in the second half and unfortunate in the end not to at least equalise.

I don't like piling in on the ref or their team at the best of times, particularly in the women's game where they are still not actually fully pro for some reason. That been said... That second half was one of the worst officiating performances I've seen in a long time. Nothing massively egregious apart from the penalty that absolutely should have been, but the biggest fault lay with the west side lino. Decision after decision wrong, throws that shouldn't have been, fouls given where nothing happened, nothing flagged despite being right in front of her when it should have been, and a pass back to cap it off! It was one of those niggly refereeing performances that stopped us getting into any type of flow, I even started to question whether we were the home side or not!!

Now, wind the clock back a week - if we had chosen one derby to win, we would all have chosen Sunday I'm sure. Now, we absolutely must bounce back with a win and cement our top 3 credentials, particularly as one of Chelsea and Arsenal are definitely dropping points this weekend (ideally both in a draw of course)
