WSL 24/25 | Chelsea v United - 12:00 on Sun 24 Nov

You might be right, of the games I've watched I don't think we've played well once and a couple have been comfortable wins. We are an excruciatingly bad team to watch, my interest has incredibly waned under Skinner and I genuinely enjoyed watching us prior to him.
I like our players. I think we've got some real talent in the team (and we had others who've now moved on). I like the atmosphere around the matches as well, particularly at LSV - though I still haven't forgiven them for the allocated seat number thing.

The overriding feeling for a while though has been ithat we're a team that's worth less than the sum of the parts.

Things do change though. Take today. It's been years since we've gone into a double match day and I was looking forward to the men's match rather than the women's.

Macario is such a smooth and classy player. Lovely player to watch.

Post match comments.

- We limited the best team in Europe to only one / x amount of goal(s)
- That’s only our first defeat of the season
- We are a new team learning, Chelsea have always been ahead of us
- We showed good spirit
- We could’ve got a point, we had our chances
- We were missing important players

In all fairness, on this one occasion, all that would be true. The disgrace is that he said all that stuff after the Villa game.

The problem is that he never ever admits that he got something wrong. Master of deflection. Huge ego without a reason.

Phallon with her standard TIME OUT that happens every game - embarrassing as usual! And I like her a lot otherwise. League needs to stop that sh1t!

Why are they not calling out the blatant play-acting on display there? Simply embarrassing from Ramirez.

I always wonder if the teams tosd a coin before the match to decide who's going to get injured this week. Or maybe they just agree the stoppage time and say whichever keeper touches it next stays down.

I mean she caught a stray arm to the face, and it’s freezing cold out there

Awujo should have been subbed 15-20 minutes ago, she has been knackered and limping around. Skinner waits til minute 88....

Yes, Geyse’s megs are nice and she’s been our only player who has had the courage and confidence to keep hold of the ball, but she tries that a bit too often.

To be fair it’s been a more spirited performance. Not good enough but close to decent.

Chelsea not being at their best probably helped too to be fair.

Game over and United win the "it could have been worse" cup..

So close from Melvine Malard though. Would have been quite a climax to the match. Shame we didn't start playing until injury time.

Good result to only lose 1-0 vs Chelsea even though they should have won by 2-0 or 3-0.

Skinner waited to long with the subs as usual, but I dont blame him for the result.

36 year old Lucy Bronze dominated our attackers physically. Only the last 10-15 minutes did we look like we believed in beating Chelsea in physical duels. When the players loses almost all duels that is NOT on the coach!

Malard was terrible until that last action that almost tied it. Clinton is a ghost that is weak physically, pretty slow and not much stamina.

Phallon is an upgrade over Mary Earps, very impressive!

Overall a decent performance, only said thing to see is that we seemed to be afraid and panic every time we had the ball in chelseas half. Players like Clinton has to make some kind of difference, otherwise we might as well play Ladd as she would win physical battles!

If we had made 2-3 subs with 20-25 minutes left and just went for fresh legs we might have had energy to go forward more, when the subs instead came in the 90th minute it made no difference.

But considering who we faced this 1-0 result is decent and buys Skinner some time :D

Also a bit of a joke that Chelsea gets the luck with the bar strike, its like they cant have bad luck and lose points.

1 good shot from Malard off the bench about the only even decent thing going forward all game for United

2 DMs and a right footed left back who doesnt attack isnt the way forward

I reckon if Skinner had made his subs earlier we could have started playing earlier than injury time. All left too late yet again.

All in all, I don't think we can complain too much. A couple of stand out PTJ saves that, to be honest, we've come to expect from her. Outside of the penalty, Chelsea never really had me hiding behind my hands in fear. Heart in mouth at the end, especially Malard hitting the bar and Phallon being up for two corners. A draw would not have been undeserved in the end I don't think, but we do have the same old Skinner-isms all over the pitch. If nothing else, this gives me more confidence facing City when it comes to that, and we really must be beating Liverpool next time out.

Apart from some poor decision making up front, the inability to keep possession and the wasteful passing from midfield, I thought we played okay. At times.

It's a disappointing result but not unexpected one, and not an embarrassing scoreline. Oh, and PTJ is such a good keeper.

I'm with you. A 1-0 loss away at Chelsea, with the only goal a penalty, is about the best we could reasonably have hoped for. It's Chelsea, for God's sake: They're just in a different (metaphorical) league.

As for PTJ, I can't blame her for thinking she could beat Ramirez to that ball; I know I thought she would, and she really didn't have much choice anyway. Also, she would have stopped that penalty had Reiten's kick not been absolutely perfect.

Defensively we are very good, however, the midfield is struggling to dominate and we look disjointed in attack.
That said I think the pundits has sussed Skinner. They seem to think he's talking a bit of shizzle and the team should be doing much better.
I tend to agree.
