WSL 2024/25 | MD 13 over | Sam Kerr trial in court

They were drunk, so I can forgive refusing to pay, it’s bad but in their drunken state, I can understand saying no. I also buy the claim that they were afraid as he started driving off in a direction that wasn’t their destination, though we now know the driver was taking them to the police station, but in the moment, I can see why that might feel like a scary situation. Once in police custody though, racially abusing the police officer, clear as day, caught on camera, it’s horrible behaviour.

Nah, drunkenness doesn't excuse acting like a twat. It explains it, but it doesn't buy forgiveness for it.

It's fair that they genuinely ended up scared when the doors locked, but that only happened because they were acting like twats.

I can understand their fear and even the panic about what was happening when the taxi didn't stop as planned. I can also understand why she got upset if she thought the police had ignored their phone call asking for help.

The trouble is when you're drunk and have refused to pay for a problem you created by being drunk, it's hard to be taken seriously or explain the problem coherently.

Sam's complaints made sense to her (and me for that matter) but would have just have sounded like drunken ranting to anyone else in that context. Throwing in the stupid white guy stuff made it personal.

Even so, is it good use of police and court time? I doubt it. It feels more like someone's making a statement.

It wasn't just personal, it was flat out racism.

She was drunk, and either her or her partner caused criminal damage according to the taxi driver as well as refusing to pay for the mess they had made in someone else's property.

She deserves a criminal charge for any one of those misdemeanors, feels like a good use of police and courts time to find someone guilty of racial harassment when they are on video doing just that.

He seems to be overreacting even though what she did was typical trampy drunken shit.

I'd wager he gets and hears far worse than that without him even reacting most Friday and Saturday nights.

Clearly trying to make an example of Kerr, but she dces deserve it.

She’s also a public figure, hopefully full book thrown at her.

I don’t get what white had to do with anything!!
