Wout Weghorst

He doesn't need to play against City at all, he just needs to qualify to play. Just need Pep to try to integrate a new target man into his match plans a couple of days before the game, our best chance at winning this is if he overthinks it.

He’ll use the same plan he did when Wout played for Burnley

What time does he have to be registered by today to make the squad tomorrow?

Should get an idea in next few hours from journos if they are likely to make it in time

Think he will be a much better signing for us than the likes of Dong Fangzhou, Manucho, Mama Biram Diouf and Ighalo.
It’s a very high bar to beat.

That collection of legends includes’The One’ and ‘The Black Pele’.

Can ‘The Dutch Van Basten’ eclipse these icons

At wout time do we wout him to make his debut? Wout against City wout surely be too soon? Could Wout come wout against Arsenal, I wouter.

Get your feelings out lads.

To the tune of Michael Jackson - She's out of my life.

He's Wout of my life
He is .. Wout of my lifeeeeee
And I don't know whether to laugh or cry
And I don't know whether to loan or buy
cross a ball and he'll strike
He's Wout of my life.

*Bridge*
So I learned of Van Gaal's possesion
So I learned: Attack the space
And I learned, Ole-ball's regression
And I learned from Weg.

And he's Wout of my life
He is .. Wout of my lifeeeeee
And I don't know whether to laugh or cry
And I don't know whether to loan or buy

People here seems to be expecting too much from this guy.Yes, he had a good record in Bundesliga but he was sold for 10m to Burnley, where he failed badly.
Yes he will offer threat in the opposition box, but its not like we did great with Ronaldo in that regard. Does not seem to have too much pace as well.

If he can help the team with pressing and let our other attackers in the game by distracting opposition defense, it should be treated as success.

Don't be silly. He will score atleast 25 goals in the remainder of the season. He's a great player, a great man and the herald of United's return to glory.

I can't Wout for him to put on the United shirt.

I think that is the least he will bring but I do expect him to chip in with a few goals as well along with being reasonable at holding the ball up and bringing others into play. We need a bit of a focal point in attack, also he is not coming into start every games, more as back up. A good plan B.

If he can do that and what you said in the last paragraph then I will consider that to be successful.

Can we put the Burnley stint to bed? Someone tell me a striker that would have come in to that Burnley team, with Dyche tactics, that would have been considered a success? He had half a season in a really shit poor side. Here’s a mad idea…let the guy kick a ball for us before we start chipping away at him.

It must be Wout, Wouuut, Wout
It must be Wout, Wouuut, Wout
It must be Wout, Wouuut, Wout
Nothing more, nothing less, Wout is the best

(To the tune of It must be love by Madness)

I don’t care if they bounce off his arse, a goal is a goal

It's also untrue. Well taken goals the most of them. Impressive headers, good runs in behind. What's not to like about them?

I strangely look forward to the guy. I love me a proper nutcase that runs his socks off for us.

I see a lot of big stats out there, but goalwise these are all quite mediocre goals

We should probably not think of him as the new messias but more of a good workhorse

What do you want, volleys and bicycle kicks?

Burnley looking likely for promotion, so his not being willing to play in the championship, hence loan out, will be gone as an excuse not to play for Burnley.... if he has an amazing 6 months with us, will prove an interesting situation, he is unlikely to want to go back to them but he may price himself out of a move!

I wouldn't call them mediocre goals at all. Nicely taken goals in fact.

Weghorst will improve the team more than Ronaldo did. He's better at holding up the ball and he presses. He also has a non-toxic attitude. Compared with Weghorst, Ronaldo isn't a natural striker. He also always claims freekicks as well. Ronaldo isn't a team player at all.

Feels like a mistake. An optional £10M clause surely would have made sense for all parties involved?

I agree. If he surprises his sceptics and scores a ton of goals between now and the end of the season United will want to keep him. However, instead of being able to get him for a fair fee Burnley will probably ask for two to three times that.

If Weghorst smashes it at Old Trafford he will want to stay, we will want him to stay and Burnley will know they can't keep him.

With two years left on his deal at the end of the season, Burnley will see sense in cashing in. However, I doubt the Burnley directors will want to let him go for the kind of cheap fee Besiktas had an option for. Burnley will probably point out how much we paid for Van Persie, when he was of a similar age and with a similar amount of time left on his Arsenal contract, and say inflation is much higher now than it was in 2012. It could get messy.

He is a clutch player. I am expecting 4-5 key, game deciding goals from him. That would be money well spent.

He is apparently quite good at providing assists, so we can also expect 4-5 assists - making it a c. 10 goal contributions in all competitions for the remainder of the season.

I think it prices him out of a move completely. At a higher price it becomes a comparison with other available strikers. Let's say Kane becomes available, who is objectively a better and more complete player.

We're not flush with cash at the moment, and in order to be a more attractive option than Kane for example, his performances would have to be up there with Van Persie's, which realistically isn't going to happen. At the £10M mark he could perform reasonably well, and be affordable as a cheap addition to Kane.

Even as a backup, at that higher price, you would have to consider if he's a better long term option than say Adam Hlozek or any number of young forwards who haven't quite broken through yet. He could of course perform well beyond expectations and be worth that, but the impact he would need to make to get a move at that price, at his age, seems unrealistic.

I think this means it is a loan and done kind of deal.
