The man is playing real life FM, reloading whenever he concedes.I'm not sure what more Ten Hag can do. Killing the league and the UCL. The goal difference in the league is crazy.
Can't blame them. No EPL club wants to risk another Sarri.
You think an Ajax man would play 3 at the back at United to accommodate a kid that's doing well in the championship? He'd rather give up his left nut.
.
Laird, Elanga, Amad, Hannibal etc will all be of use to him IMO.
Also (assuming he's appointed) don't be surprised if he brings in a keeper on the national minimum wage who will help him in the initial build up phase on the ball.
No top manager is gonna be a yes man. Zidane left his beloved Madrid twice after a dispute with Perez. Guardiola left Barcelona and Bayern because of the same thing. Conte, we all know him. Tuchel had disputes with PSG and Dortmund. Klopp seems to be the only legitimately chill guy.
Getting him as manager seems way too good to be true at the moment.
By no means is he a cert but we’ve got to try the exciting, upcoming ’hipster’ coach route at some point. He could fail miserably of course but that’s the risk we‘ve got to take if we do. Doing it for Ajax and doing it for United are different worlds.
If we wanted him, it would take a longer term plan to get him at the end of the season, starting now.
Unfortunately, our board works on a as late as possible basis, so not happening.
If Barca don't take him, he'll be snapped up by someone else.
He'd probably need a new keeper too tbh. De Gea just isn't very good on the ball and he sticks to his line far too often.I hope the club have a gentleman's agreement for him to come before the start of the next season. Ajax's first xi is pretty much a cheaper version of ours. He'd do well with our current squad, plus 1 or 2 to plug our central midfield mess.

I think signing Amad was the correct move for the RWF role, and he should've got minutes on the right along with Mason. I think the Sancho move didn't make a lot of sense for us when we had already bought Amad who was a natural on the right. The Sancho money should've been spent on midfield. But it seems to me like the manager and recruitment staff weren't on the same page.Amad development plan is a weird one. We blocked Atalanta request for loan and then made him play in U23. Makes you wonder why we even bought him when our finances were tight.
Laird as wing back? ETH doesn't play use wingbacks and Laird isn't an exceptional talent.
Gravenberch and De Jong are very, very different players. He'd love to have De Jong, but I have no clue why he would want Gravenberch when he has Bruno, Hannibal and VDB.
It's mostly the defenders he'll have a hard time making tick in his system. AWB, Maguire and DDG lack ability on the ball. Ajax wouldn't take any of them.
I don't see him wasting funds on Anthony when he would have Greenwood, Sancho and Amad and we need a DM + the above sorting out.
We do have Henderson though. Not the most modern keeper himself and possibly won't ultimately be good enough but enough of a step in that direction to bridge us over until we get around to signing a top level goalkeeper who fits.
Wayne fecking Rooney. I have no idea.So then we are fine with Ole till the end of the season - considering Ten Hag won’t dip out of this season considering Ajax form in the CL unless they crash out sooner than later, but will we lose top 4 with ole at the wheel? If glazers want a interim who would we go with to steer us over the line?
Not bad for a 'flavour of the month' who has been showing his class for several years now.
Romano and Custis have both reported that he's on our short list. Custis has even said that he's one of the 4 targets (3 now) who they've made indirect contact with regarding their plans for the team. I think the list might even be down to two, for Custis now, with Zidane and Conte out of the picture. Sami Mokbel has also reported that United are interested in ten Hag.I wish we had smart people that actually cared running the club, should be putting a feeler out to him if he would accept the job at the end of the season

Custis doesn't mention Poch and it seems like it will be a straight choice between ten Hag and Rodgers if Custis is correct. He's on the list, but the priority targets are Poch and Rodgers, apparently.
He's shown the ability to implement zonal/positional control with emphasis on ball possession at the highest level consistently against the best teams in Europe, playing superb football to boot, whilst losing half his team.. And that is very important for me when I judge a coach at the highest level. What has he done to suggest he could manage a big club like United?
Although Rogers would be an even worse choice imo.

And that was against Liverpool at Anfield last year, where they lost 1-0.
Maybe not brilliant but his players are good on the ball.Pretty much of his players are brilliant on the ball - isn't it ?
DDG,Fred,McT,AWB - that's 4 gone.
Choked versus Liverpool. Do not want. The below post should help answer that.
That's an amazing record.

Take Anthony from Ajax as a example, they (Ajax) bought him from Brazil at 19/20 for £15m and he's starring for them on the right hand side at UCL level with 3 assists in the game earlier. And it wasn't like he was unheard of either, if one has interest in following emerging talents. We as fans can't look past said player who will cost a premium and should instead take more interest in the development of a style of play from back to front and see which players and not player, fit into that style of play. So I was hoping Amad was gonna be given a chance on the right and we spent the Sancho money on midfield. But it seems Solskjaer had other ideas.
Are there any pages/posts in this thread with a realistic breakdown of how he'd use our current squad - the one where nobody is in for our high earners and he basically has to make do with what's here or probably gets a £100m summer to improve the squad?
Is he the type that would try and raid Ajax, or could anyone visualise where he'd be looking to spend that budget on priority players/positions?
Super imposing his concepts and personnel onto our players, is he utilising Pogba, Bruno and Sancho in the same team? Is he going to get the best out of Ronaldo, or have a hard time fitting him in etc.
I struggle to see how he won't be at Barcelona if they want him, I also doubt we have the footballing brains in the club to really impress upon the money men that this guy is a big deal.
We could do with the majority of Ajax's infrastructure: Van der Sar, Overmaars and whichever key men ten Hag would want to bring with him, but that's not going to happen, and from Ajax's POV, nor should it.
Our club needs to be dragged out of the dark ages and modernised without interruption; does this guy have the resilience to stick to the task with admirable mental fortitude should the media or our meddling ex-players get on his back?
I like what he brings on the pitch, but would hope he has the stones as a coach to handle big egos, systemic rot (in weeding it out rather than succumbing) and can handle the not so nice parts of the job here off the pitch.
We gagged and swallowed. So I'll take choked.Choked versus Liverpool. Do not want.
My guess is that he's nailed on to replace Pep when he leaves.Jurgen Klopp
“Erik [ten Hag] is rightly regarded as one of the most exciting coaching talents in world football at the moment because of the work he does with Ajax,” Klopp said in December 2020.
“Of course, it is a wonderful club – one of the stellar names of European football – but in this moment it is clear they have outstanding leadership of the organisation and Erik is a big part of that.
“They have had to adapt in recent seasons after losing a few players to rival clubs. I remember from my own experience at Dortmund how that feels and what a challenge it is.
“How they deal with it is exceptional. The foundations of the team remain solid and they have recruited well. They have a clear identity. I love watching them, I have to say.”
Karl Heinz-Rummenigge
“First of all, I have to say, that he’s a very kind man,” the Bayern Munich chairman said in December 2018. “It’s not always easy to be on good terms with Dutchmen as Germans. We have witnessed this with Louis [van Gaal]!
“But Erik is a very pleasant guy. I also think he’s capable of doing big things as a coach and he’s proving this now.
“I think this Ajax team is the best one they’ve had for 10 years. Around the last years, they were not one of the top international teams, but he is leading them gradually back at a high level.”
Dusan Tadic
“What is the biggest thing about Erik I think is his fanaticism and that he wants to improve us every day and he really likes football and this is really great for players because always they want to help you improve.”
Andre Onana
“When we lose the ball, we must win it back immediately,” Onana told AFP in May 2019. “He is focused on that, he is always telling us that if we have control of the ball, we have the ability to push back any opponent.”
Daley Blind
“Johan Cruyff’s philosophy and spirit still flows around in this club,” Blind told BT Sport in May 2019. “Erik ten Hag is doing very well now. He wants us to play attacking football but most of all without any fear.”
Will Magee
“When it comes to Ten Hag’s favoured style of play, the Cruyffian influence is unavoidable,” Magee wrote in The Independent in 2019. “There is a reason that his approach has been dubbed ‘Total Football 2.0’.
“If the original premise of Total Football was that outfield players should be flexible, adaptable and to some degree interchangeable in their positioning as they sought to create and exploit space, Ten Hag’s side live up to their billing.
“Their full-backs, usually Nicolas Tagliafico and Joel Veltman, push high and double up as auxiliary attackers, while their wingers, David Neres and Hakim Ziyech, are equally capable of roaming in-field dangerously."
Erik Ten Hag
“I watch Bayern play every weekend,” Ten Hag told SZ in April 2019. “Since Pep, football in Germany is different, I looked at almost every training back then, and I took a lot of methodical lessons on how to transfer his philosophy to the pitch.
“I want to have possession and hurt the opponent. It’s about possession, about movement, about vertical attacking patterns, about pressing, wingers moving into the middle to make room for the full-backs. Everyone is attacking, everyone is defending.”
