100% yes
Nope.
The archetypal flavour of the month.
Tbf this can be applied to any manager out there, Pep, Klopp, SAF, you name. But there is a difference between seeing how a team plays and coach a team to play that way.
He’s so vogue right now. People will sit here and make snarky comments about how our board won’t consider him because he’s not well known enough etc. But concerns definitely exist over this guy just as they do for Conte and Zidane.
In the same way someone like Conte (who is wrongly perceived as negative, but that’s another thread) would inherit a side that doesn’t fit his system, as would ten Hag. Our players aren’t used to the 433. We haven’t played it under Ole in over 2 seasons. We also have one of, if not the, laziest attack in the league. That’s going to take some doing to start getting them to press.
There’s also the fact that historically Dutch managers have been pretty poor in the PL, as well as recent exports (De Boer; Bosz; Cocu) — all being a bit crap when given an opportunity.
I think the biggest plus for ten Hag is that he looks really good in the CL. That alone probably says he’s a level above those before him. A name we should consider? Most likely. But I don’t think he’s an absolute number 1 on the list at all.

gut feeling, but I think he’s the type of manager who’d look really good if he ended up at City or Bayern. We don’t do well with this type of manager, generally speaking.
Poll please @Solius ?
Potter would be another Moyes. The players would not respect him enough and the first moment things would turn sour they'd play to get him sacked.Absolutely. 100% the type of intelligent, progressive young manager we SHOULD be going for.
In reality I imagine he'll go elsewhere, while we plump for a Zidane or Conte 'Proven' type and continue to spin our wheels.
Same was said about the likes of Klopp, Nagelsmann & Rose. So long as we're astute enough to filter out the charlatans (De Boer comes to mind) then this should be a good thing.
I'd say the same for Graham Potter who I think would do well here too.
Potter would not be a Moyes - for starters they set their teams up completely differently. Moyes has always been a negative coach setting his teams up not to lose, Potter has always been a lot more progressive and attack-focused.Potter would be another Moyes. Added.

I agree with that but you know, joining a club like this from where he is, it's a major step up. No CL experience, no experience of handling "superstars" Fair enough the way he sets up brighton to play is bold and exciting to watch but he's much yet to prove before being given a job at a top club imo.Potter would not be a Moyes - for starters they set their teams up completely differently. I'm not suggesting Potter would be my first choice by any stretch, but its harsh to compare him to Moyes.
He won't leave mid season and that's a problem. We can still save the season and I dont want another care taker manager. I agree he should be offered the position and if he doesn't take it, go for Conte or Zidane.
Well, no manager is long term anyway. It's not like Ten Hag is the last one available or he won't come in future. Give Conte 18 months and take it from there.I hope the board aren't acting in that way. If a progressive young manager whose team play a very attractive style of football won't come until the summer, we shouldn't do huge turn and go for Conte who is the definition of a short-term manager. I hope we have a more long-term approach, unlike in the past 8 years.
Sadly this ain't going to happen. We are never clever enough to make this happen.
I'm not a manager, but since very few managers do it I imagine it must be very hard just to understand these concepts yet alone convey them in a comprehensible manner to your average football player. It's something like not everyone can be a quantum mechanics physicist. So the same must be true with top class managers.I can see how one might have thought I meant 'it should be simple to communicate these ideas to the players'. The questions in question are more along the lines of "why the @#%$ing bloody blue hell is no one implementing those ideas?"
The whole Moyes situation developed from him being a bellend from day 1. Instead of retaining the WC coaching staff we had at the time and that knew and comanded the respect of our title winning squad, he thought he was some big time Charlie and fired them all. Then he replaced them with some average Joes nobody even heard of. No wonder he lost the dressing room.I agree with that but you know, joining a club like this from where he is, it's a major step up. He's gonna be on our radar without a doubt and Marcel Bout actually knows both Ten Hag and Arno Slot from what i've read online. Not that i'm saying Slot is a genuine candidate for the role right now but he's someone that looks very promising and should be someone that could progress to a bigger stage in the future. Those saying he won’t even be on our radar would be right a few years ago maybe. But I think Murtough is well aware of his existence.
If he's as good/has the potential people think he does, then just sign him on to join at the end of the season. It's important we lay the groundwork now for our next managerial appointment rather than spend our summer doing that.Would he potentially leave Ajax mid season ?
He without a doubt is that coach, Amol. Whether he would be able to implement his plans at United remains to be seen. But if he is successful, then we'd witness some of the best football at United for decades imo. And his style of coaching has the potential to seep all the way down to the youth teams, which could create a real footballing identity throughout the club, which we've lost. Bayern have benefited in a similar way imo.I know nothing about Ten Hag other than watching those exciting CL performances. As I've said before, we need a proper modern coach to transform this football club. He seems to the most highly rated one amongst managers of that ilk who are available but I wouldn't have seen enough of them to differentiate. So of course I've voted yes.
What annoys me is that we have wasted the paat 2 years which have gone trophyless just carrying on with this screw good football style of play and which could have been spent coaching this team into playing a progressive brand of football. The modernisation of Manchester United is the inevitable that we keep delaying. He without a doubt is that coach, Amol. Whether he would be able to implement his plans at United remains to be seen.
