I've seen a few people use Lingard as RWB in possible lineups under Conte and I'm wondering why that can't be Bruno instead. Something like this

Rashford --Ronaldo --Sancho

Telles------Matic---- Fred------- Bruno

Shaw---Maguire---Varane

DDG
Omg keep wondering. Swap Sancho with Bruno in your line up at least.

If we get Conte in, Brozovic would be a good player to buy. He is in the last year of his contract, and is a really good DM. Solid defensively, and dictates play from the back. A bit on the older side at 28, but very similar to Carrick imo.

Deep plying playmaker (like Brozovic) and a RWB would surely be top of the January shopping list for Conte.

Why would you keep your most productive player as a wing back ? Because he can run ?

He's the best available manager around, and easily top 5 in the world. Ten Hag i think has the style that excites me more but Conte would be great here I have no doubt.

Sounds good. I’d replace Ronaldo with Henderson and stick Greenwood in as a holding midfielder while you’re at it.

Truly madcap.

I can understand posters concerns about Conte being too volatile or his football being too defensive at times or him buying players that aren’t suited in the long run. I’m kinda on the same boat. But people please understand that this is not the time for dilly dallying. Our squad is gonna be ripped apart and won’t be as good as it is in 2 years. Ronaldo, Cavani, Pogba won’t be here plus the likes of Bruno, Varane, De gea etc are already in their prime. We need to utilise this squad now as it is littered with top class players.I’m sure we can win something big with Conte with this squad. We need to win something now as it’s been 4 years already without a silverware.

I can understand the clamour for a coach like ten hag who plays modern progressive football but it is also a massive massive risk if he doesn’t fire straightaway. There is a good chance we would be stuck in a limbo if we don’t take advantage of it now. We already could be in the danger of not making top 4. Let’s get conte for 2 years, get this team whip into shape, get the results we need, win something or atleast get the top 4 sorted along with a cup or 2 then we move on and get a coach like ten hag or even potter (I’m a fan). There is no obvious klopp or Guardiola available right now. Everything else other than Conte is a massive gamble and we neither have the time nor the squad to waste on anyone else other than him.

This is what I am expecting if we sign Conte

Rashford Ronnie Sancho
Telles Fred Matic Dalot
Maguire Varane Lindelof

Or

Cavani Rashford
Telles Pogba Matic Fred Dalot
Maguire Varane Lindelof

There will be heavy rotation like we are seeing at City and Chelsea.

Looks good. Just remove Bruno. We want Balance not an all star line.

Remove Bruno? Really? Maybe move him from there but not out of the team.

No remove him. We ain’t won’t f all with all of these players. Stop getting attachments.

If he plays he plays. If he don’t so what. We have a lot of good players.

Brozovic would be class for this side too. A lot of what we're missing.

Don't get the lack of respect for Bruno. In spite of how shit we've been he has still created more chances than almost any other player in the PL this season. But you'd drop him? Don't get it.

Its not lack of respect. It’s just a sheer romanticism from this fanbase and it’s annoying. We aren’t Bruno FC.

He’s not getting dropped. He’s just not in that balanced starting 11. Will he play that role better than Rashford or Sancho? No chance. So what is your problem?

Livremento and Brozovic.

Livramento will be going back to Chelsea, I think. They have a really cheap buy back so he’s effectively on loan at Soton. I think they phase Azpilicueta out and Livramento could end up putting James out of their side too. He’s top and would be great at United.

It's not romanticism, mate. As I stated in my previous post, he is out most productive attacking player so far this season, and by some distance. I wouldn't drop any player if that was the case. If Fred or Matic were producing those numbers they would be undroppable too. I would also argue that in a 3 5 2 you don't need two holding midfielders so one of Matic or Fred should be dropped.

He'd be doing well to put James out. He looks brilliant every time I've seen him and has been getting a lot of plaudits.

Hes the most appropriate attacking in a crap system winning nothing.

He’s nomore creative than Jordan Henderson or Ander Herrera from open play. Like Rashford, Ronaldo and Greenwood his first thought is to shoot when he is 20 yards or closer from goal.

This is why I say we need balance. Jadon Sancho or Martial is required in this formation as there first thought isn’t to shoot but to create. The same for Jesse Lingard. I have no issue with Bruno playing. But he cannot play with Rashford and Ronaldo in the same team.

Does that make sense now? Also note I said ‘open play’ in my comparison.

Yeah either of Matic or Fred can be dropped but the balance works as you have a presser in Fred and someone who can distribute play whilst also having good defensive attributes in Matic. So the pairing is well thought out too. But you could swap either for Donny. To get Pogba in I think you’d need a 3 and two up top. Which Bruno could also play at a SS like he does now.

James is great but with all Chelsea’s games two good wing backs could get plenty of game time. Tuchel has also liked James at centre back. If they were competing with each other it would be interesting. If Chelsea don’t use their buy back United should be all over him.

get him in immediately and let him cook. No Maguire, Mctominay and Shaw in the list. And I'm confident he will bin AWB too.

Sancho
Telles Fred Pogba Dalot

We might be back soon.

Cannot argue with any of that.
Personally I would not worry about a manager who was able to make this squad perform properly. And by doing that, taking on the likes of City, Liverpool and Chelsea and maybe actually winning something for a change.
In my book, success breeds success and I believe that the upsides would greatly outweigh any of the downsides.
We have to have a platform from which to move forward from to give United the momentum it needs.

But if not Conte, because of concerns with his possible short term ism, then I would definitely go after Gareth Southgate. He is everything Ole is not. Starting with intelligence.

No, because he does not know the Manchester United way quite like Ole does, he will be another Jose.

Given how good he made Lukaku look at Inter, he'd have no problem with Ronaldo. Even with us feeding him scraps he has already scored plenty and basically saved our CL group (for now, at least). I just do not want to see McFred start another game for us. DVB needs to get a run of games there now. If he fails, he fails, but it is inexcusable if Ole is allowed to sell him and then he tears it up somewhere else.

When you think what Conte achieved at Chelsea, okay he had peak Hazard, but beyond that he had just Willian and Pedro rotating on the RW.

We've got Greenwood, Sancho, Rashford, Martial (for the moment) for two spots.

Yep knew the simple understand. You stick to Rashford , Ronaldo, Greenwood and Bruno.

Then wondering why we don’t win trophies

Some people just fail to educate themselves but be angry with CEO’s like Woodward and Arnold

Think the problem is entirely different from Ole being too nice or being too volatile, albeit it is a valid critic - a good coach should be balanced in that regard. It's his lack of understanding football in a philosophical way that is pulling us back. You can't have such a young coach who doesn't even bother to train the players and instead leaves it to his buddies, who have even less of an experience as him coaching a team, to do so. A coach who believes that football is a "simple game", in which all that matters is who wants to win it more... Conte, on the other hand, is a master tactician. He knows what and when to do it. He knows how to utilize his players, use their strengths and minimize his weaknesses. And if we're ever to hope to compete with tactical heavyweights like Guardiola and Klopp, we need the same caliber of a manager. We can't solve this problem by just throwing money at everything. You can give Ole another 500m and there won't be much of a difference in the way this team plays or competes. We're entirely reliant on individual moments and we're simply a mess at everything related to football.
