If Conte does indeed drop Maguire, he won’t be United’s manager in a long while. The club simply won’t allow it to happen to a 80M asset to sit on the bench or out of the team. I personally think he will play Maguire in his XI though. Why wouldn’t he?
Errr... he wouldn't guarantee Cristiano a start if you ask me. Sure as feck would prefer Cavani up top. Is that also a no-no?

How about Pogba? The owners won't want to lose him on a free.

Yadda yadda, same shit, different manager, same outcomes.

If we are to impose all these idiotic constraints you may as well keep Ole or get a caretaker until half of all that shit gets resolved through simple passage of time.

The only thing I find remotely interesting about Conte at this point is the inevitable meltdown from all the success chasers when Cristiano ends up benched
And I think that might be the main reason we won't see Conte here.

My only worry about him is that he'll undo all the foundations that Ole has built, like LvG and Mourinho did before him.

The foundations are how to lose an european cup final against Villarreal and losing at home 0-5 against Liverpool

Well, I think we can all agree that Conte would do well to undo these "foundations".

I’ve been on the fence with Conte for a long time. However at this point I would give him the job, as he has the stature and strength of character to handle the job, he would give us the organisation that we desperately need in order win and go far in competitions. I am still somewhat concerned as to what his transfer policy will be, not sure it will resonate with the club but hoping our goals would align.

He looks a bit too buzzing for it to happen to be a Chelsea fan (regardless of him saying the contrary).

Spot on about dropping Shaw and Maguire though at least.

His channel is literally about him being a Chelsea fan

I think McTominay as the right sided CB in a 3-4-3 under Conte is a very interesting suggestion tbh.

Why ? We have the perfect back 3. Lindelof, Maguire ,Varane is as good as it can get. Power, pace and passing. With Bailly and Shaw also come in, he has a good system to start .

McT will fight for a midfield position

True , that's the only reason why I am against Conte. Cavani is his type of forward though. He would get better results than Lukaku or Costa .

The trouble with his 3-4-3 is it leaves no room for Bruno. He doesn't have the positional discipline to play deep (not to mention its a waste of his talents). Ironically his best midfield pairing for a 3-4-3 might actually be McFred. He could try Fred in the Kante role and someone like DVB in the Matic role, but realistically he'll need a midfield signing or two to make that setup work.

De Gea
Lindelof Varane Maguire
AWB/Dalot - Fred/Matic - Pogba/VdB - Shaw/Telles
Bruno/Sancho
Ronaldo/Cavani Rashford/Greenwood

Front 3 swaps between wingers or 2 forwards and a 10. Think he tries to get Pogba to work in midfield now that he'd have a back 3 behind him, extra guy should be enough tbh. Slight chance at Lingard bring a RWB, Dalot LWB, Shaw LCB, Bruno being a CM and competing with Pogba.

Interesting suggestions. McTominay as RCB or Matic at LCB could be tried as well. Wont be surprised if we're going for a RWB at winter window.

This is a very balanced and strong team. With a very strong bench as well.

Alongside who exactly and for what reason??

Alongside Varane and Maguire/Shaw when Lindelof needs a rest. He plays RCB for Scotland too.

No it would be a disaster, I’d rather wait to get someone who can work with these players conte would not

As a bench/rotation option he's fine. He plays there well for Scotland.

Bruno can play as right attacking midfield or left attacking midfield in a 3-4-3 in a way, say, Mount plays for Chelsea. Its top heavy though I agree, but I guess our squad is that way. Martial will be sold for sure. Lingard will have to leave I guess, unless he is used as a wingback.

Conte actually frequently used the inverted version of that midfield 3 (with a single CDM) while at Inter.

If we are serious about competing again and finally sorting this squad out then Conte is the only option.

I'm almost certain he'll try to adapt him as he did with Victor Moses, think Lingard might have previously been used as WB for Van Gaal too. That is until he signs an actual RWB which I suspect he'll prioritise along with a midfielder.

Conte's CL record is the biggest black mark on his career.

It is appalling, but his league record is tremendous.

Still prefer Ten Hag over him. I'd rather bring in a caretaker and get Ten Hag in the summer than get Conte in now.
Don’t you think Ten Hag is inexperienced with all due respect? I think he’s a top top manager and in a few years time with more experience under he’s belt will be chased by the big guns. But right now I think he’ll need time at United to adjust to the league etc and I don’t think we will give it to him judging by our recent track record not including Ole….

Inexperienced when it comes to dealing with high profile players? Sure.

Anyone we appoint has some risk. There's no surefire thing when it comes to managerial appointments.

I believe he has the highest ceiling from potential managerial candidates and the football he plays is what I want to see at Old Trafford.

We might not get him in 2-3 years if other big clubs are in for him too and his stock continues to rise.

Hopefully Antonio has been given the job already and is sorting out his personal affairs -- and more importantly from out point of view, doing his homework on our squad and preparing to manage it -- over the next few weeks while Ole wraps things up before officially leaving the club during the international break, which I believe begins right after we face City at Old Trafford on November 6.

Conte isn't my first choice, but realistically it's not going to be Zidane or Ten Hag and there's little chance we can pry Bruce Arena loose from New England Revolution. :)

I wonder would our board be foolish enough to demand Conte should keep our background staff if he takes over and that's holding things up

Wouldn't surprise me one bit. I don't think Giggs was Van Gaal's choice and Carrick to replace Faria was definitely not Mourinho's choice.

At least he is a handsome and charismatic cnut who is very active on the sidelines + doesnt accept mediocrity and half arsed performances.

I would take Conte if he was offered at this very moment, yes. Heck, I would take the spanish waiter or even Alan Curbishley….

I've just watched 20 minutes of Southampton V Chelsea, I am in quarantine and can't go out.

It was crazy watching those Southampton players run so hard to defend, attack, make space - crazy - run, run, run, effort, effort, effort,

I think I would take Huten-tutle at United for a while.

I was with you all the way  …until you mentioned Spanish waiter or Curbishley

Today has told me Fergie is determined for us to look elsewhere but the damage could be huge the longer we wait

I heard Andy Mitten on radio tonight. He doesn’t think Ole is going to be sacked , at least not just yet. More thumpings on the way then.

Don't like Conte style of play at all. Christ we will be playing five at the back in some games. He won't know what to do with all our attacking force and have to be a mass clear out to play his style of football. Brendon Rodgers for me from what's available.
Same Brendan Rodgers that lined up Leicester City with a back five against us barely 10 days ago?

Most of those who don't want him now are going to fall in love with him when he joins. His energy alone from the sidelines is going to be much more heartwarming than any brand of football a flavor of the month is going to try to play. Opposition fans are going to hate us when we are winning.

We are becoming a soft touch and way too uninspiring as a club, and everyone is just nostalgic and obsessed with ideals and phenomenons. Give me the old school form of winning any day.

Unlikely to happen

He doesn’t have admirer in the board

Saf and the others don’t like him…

If we play a 3-5-2, three out of Greenwood, Rashford, Cavani and Sancho will always be on the bench. That's not good.

If we play 3-4-3, Bruno will be on the bench.

3 at the back just doesnt suit our squad no matter the mental gymnastics people do. I'm not saying play all of them, but a 4-3-3 accommodates Bruno, Rashford, Sancho and Ronaldo, with just Cavani and Greenwood on the bench, which is nice and balanced. Conte has to play a 4-3-3, otherwise he is wasting our attacking talent. And please dont say "but what about trophies and balance" because those are not mutually exclusive.
If I'm not mistaken he played with a front three at Chelsea with Hazard, William and Costa carrying the attack. So we would have Ronaldo/Greenwood, Bruno and Greenwood/Sancho/Rashford. Two would miss out. Cavani can be Ronaldo's backup, I'm not really bothered. But yeah the two young ones are obviously a priority.

Also a 343 is not unsuited to us, it's just unsuited to AWB and hence we'd need a wingback which should be cheap.

Look obviously I want us flying and playing attacking football like a City and Liverpool. That would be my preference. But if the club is incapable of spotting the next big thing in management which would not be a surprise, are we given we have Ole as manager, in the position to turn down one of the very best on the planet ? I don't think so. So while I'd like someone more exciting, Conte is an enormous upgrade over Ole. He's no less exciting on the pitch (Ole is a conservative manager) but he's actually brilliant at what he does. Which is he accumulates league titles as if it's nothing.
