You have to recall where we were before we broke the record for a defender. Our form had us in relagation. Maguire and AWB has provided the much need stability to our defense and as they eased into our team, we now have one of the strongest defenses in the league because the board supported the transfer committee decision to smash record for defenders. Then comes January, we were the only team that spent big because the board knew that that was what we needed to get into the champions league. They didn’t have belief in Ole managerial capability that he could get us over the finish line with what we have or on a restricted budge, they knew that they had to spend big to cover his lack of managerial understanding. Look at Chelsea and Lampard. Chelsea needed a signing but their board didn’t back him and instead put faith in his managerial capability to get them into the champions league with what they have. Could you imagine if Chelsea made a huge signing like we did in January? They would have had fourth sealed already. And this is a Chelsea team that hasn’t made a signing this whole season.
I agree that Ole have gave the team a positive attitude, but he needs more than that to take us to the top because that wasn’t working before we made these key signing. As I also mentioned before, Ole knows how to find the right players. I have much faith in giving him a warchest than any of our other managers beside Sir Alex. But, the tactical side of the game, he still fall behind a lot of the big club managers.
Ole has beaten Poch big time. Hi is much better with tactics than poch, and have proved this every time they have faced each other. Thats why Poch dont have a job, and Ole is managing englands best team at the moment. The owners dont invest in a manager that they dont belive in.

Roy Keane was right. Ole's gets shit when Fat Frankie walks free of any criticism.

Come on guys, does anyone really want him gone now?
Are you not entertained? For the first time in years I'm buzzin to watch united, Ole made the drug very potent again.
I don't think we'll challange next year, it's still early days, but so what?
I'm enjoying this ride

If you find my words cringeworthy, I hope you took the time out to read the post I was referring to in the Sancho thread.

I’m guessing you haven’t? Which would then explain your tone being similar to that poster, where you’re both very assumptive with little to no evidence to back your statement.

Perhaps you’d also then need a fact check like the one I gave to that poster and you may also struggle to reply back. Or, simply just ‘struggle to recover’ when you realize your know-it-all approach leaves ample room for you to grow your knowledge base further.

On a side note, I’m very curious if you always cringe without knowing the full story? Seems a bit ignorant of you. Which in turn makes you seem disrespectful towards me.
Now then, maybe its you that needs to take more time to read posts, so many assumptions, all of them missing the point of my post, should of read it properly before getting your undies in a twist. To be clear, or more clear, so even you get it, Im not interested in your facts, thats why i didnt comment on your facts, or your opinion. i didnt mention your views on a DOF, i actually agree with you on that matter...But fact check away if it makes you feel better.

Ok but I still think Ole has a lot of merit. Look who Franck bought. Ziyesh and Werner. He thinks defense is not a priority. Now he got spanned x2 since the reboot...

Though I disagree with some part of your post, I understand better where you’re coming from and yes, I think Ole is actually suited for great players tactics. Part of me thinks it’s because he was a great player but that’s not all, see how Maradona could not be a great coach. However, Cryuff or Beckenbauer... anyway my point is, I trust Ole, and I think the changes happening are thanks to him.

I think we can all agree at minimum that now is not the right time to replace Ole.

That and Ole basically won himself more time and trust to keep his job throughout this season.
+ started ok then immediately poor run, followed by superb home-run midway and ever since restart, now cruising so well towards the end.

And therefore Ole deserve to have another go at next season.

Why are people still running with this? Why are people even contemplating this on such a good run? Are people never happy?

Even when things are going well, team is starting to gel, Ole's tactics are starting to pay off and we're on an insanely hot streak, yet so called fans still want Ole gone?

What on earth are you smoking? Why all the Ole hate?

Ole could win the Treble and I bet fans would still want Ole gone.

Absolute joke.

Reading this thread it’s so clear that Ole needs a trophy. Even an FA cup would be game changing for the critics as they would really struggle to doubt his credentials then.

Is it really so crazy to say that Ole has done really well recently, we’ve been great since Jan with Bruno’s arrival & it’s looking good. However we are still only 5th despite the great form which shows how bad we were earlier in the season. And that some still aren’t sold on his tactical nous & ability to change a game when things aren’t going wrong /it’s a tight game (Against Burnley it was just 90 mins of the same thing which was very concerning)

However things are going our way right now & we’re looking great so let’s see where we go but it’s too simplistic to say that posters who have some concerns still over Ole are ‘crazy’ or ‘WUM’s’
Nah, everyone that disagrees with the top reds is crazy and a 'WUM'. Bunch of jokers.

Dude read what you quoted and put in bold!

Jesus Christ...

No that's an acceptable view to take but I'd go read some of your own posts back in this thread before complaining about others now you've changed your tune.

What do you think he means by ‘at minimum’?

I get that, I honestly do, but the fact that the thought of replacing him even at a minimum, shouldn't even be in anyone's thoughts.

The whole thing about Ole is "When are we replacing him" - he's never been given a chance.

He's given a chance and people still have the thought, even if it is minute, to replace him. Why?

If Poch had the same tenure, the thought of replacing 'poch' would never even be in people's minds and people would rather stick with him

This is what you quoted he is saying everyone should at least agree not to sack Ole now and give him a chance...

He’s not saying to sack him he’s saying those who aren’t fully convinced by him should at least give him a chance.

Could not have said it better. Really enjoying football to watch

The minute you question Ole everyone thinks you’re winding them up. Wake up sheeple!

16 goals free scoring against the worst sides in the league. It’s not like we’re beating Chelsea or whoever 4-0 get a grip!

We’re not even 4th place so we’re definitely not anywhere near title winning form.

The team is playing attractive attacking football, we’re developing youth, it’s good to watch and the culture is better but he’s not going to get us the PL. You need a world class manger like Mourinho to do it. Ole cant get the better of Pep and Klopp.

This is as good as it gets now hand the wheel over to someone who knows how to win.

I don't think it's the questioning Ole that has people gobsmacked it's saying that Jose is our saviour. The man is finished. He's a relic of a bygone age that has not moved on.

If we got rid of Ole and no one in their right mind would say that we should at the moment the last person that we would bring in is Jose. We would be taking 5 steps backward.

Crazy to think back to that Burnley game in January and remember how toxic the club was, how Ed was getting abuse from fans and how much discontent there was. Signing Bruno and getting the win against Chelsea were definitely the turning points.

I have a feeling you’ll realise how foolish you’ve been.

:p
Edit: I could have removed it but I thought I'd leave it and take my punishment.
Looks like the greatest hits of Ole Outers strikes again. The post was satirical an amalgamation of all the Ole out style posts that people posted before lockdown.

It’s crazy to think some people thought this way!

I’ll say what I said in another thread I’m not a Ole lover(as a manager) or a Ole hater, I love Manchester United and I wanted him gone in January but now I’m seeing positive things that even if we don’t make top 4 he will get next season.

I don’t get this love for managers maybe it comes from most of our fans seeing SAF as our manager there whole life’s. I feel if they perform they will get backed if not they get sacked. Ole has us playing great football so anyone wanting him gone now is being incredibly stupid.

That’s too short term a thinking IMO. I’m not a fan of the approach that your hire managers for 2-3 seasons, see out a new manager bounce and then fire them as soon as things turn sour. That gives the players too much power because they know if they don’t like the manager they can always get them fired.

I think it is better to choose a guy you believe in to manage the club and stick by him even if results go bad (within reason of course) until you think they can no longer carry out their vision or if your vision changes. It might be more painful in the short term but is better for club stability and long term success.

Under United's structure, I completely agree. The club has had a huge turnover of players following every managerial sacking and it's unsustainable financially.

If Ole doesn't work out, it's really hard to see where the club goes next. Luckily he's doing an amazing job and there isn't another manager in world football that could do what he's doing. The key to his success is re-establishing the Manchester United culture back in the club.

But having a love for man united the club involves having love for the players and manager. You can’t just love Manchester United without having any Attachment to the players or manager.
a year or so back I had no love for the managed or players and was pretty meh about it all, these players are different and having a like for them and Ole Has been part of the current enjoyment of watching them do well.

guess that’s a long way of refuting your ‘don’t get this love for mangers’ haha

Might be stating the obvious but I think unlike say Arsenal, we have players that are good enough to be pushing top 3. Can only look at the manager if we do not.

Did we have all that though? A number of questions:
Who are these players? Pogba? Martial? Rashford? Bruno?
How much of our season were they actually available for selection?

At one point in the season Andreas Pereira had just about the highest number of appearances for outfield players - let that sink in. Would he get a game at Burnley?

We may have had better players on paper, but the best of our players missed huge chunks of the seasons

I agree in sense but do you love Lingard ? James ? The answer might be yes but it’s hard too depend when they under perform I felt like we were underperforming in January I believe we had 8 wins in the PL I want Ole to succeed but it’s hard to defend as his CV wasn’t the best and the football looked mediocre at best. I just want this club to succeed I feel like we are going in the right direction but 6 months ago I didn’t. I will always admit when I’m wrong and hopefully in the long term I am

I do like James actually, he may not be the best quality but seems a sound lad and gives his all. I havnt got so much time for lingard anymore.

I get what you’re saying too and theres not an immediate need to like or love a manger or player but I guess it just happens over time if things go well

As a prominent force for Ole not being good enough to be the manager of Manchester United on this forum for some time many months ago, i feel like i need to step in here and just admit that I got it wrong. In my mind I never saw him as being good enough, and the constant playing of awful players and results and performances on the pitch seemed as good as evidence as any, topped off with his past record, or almost lack thereof.

I was definitely in the camp of, get Pochettino in as soon as possible, and yes I still think Pochettino is a good option for us. However, it is impossible to ignore how well Ole has pulled this back, it looked at one point things may be lost and I think a lot of the bickering on this forum showed he had a lot of supporters doubting him, myself included, but things have looked so up since those bleak months that to get rid of him come the end of the season would be a tragedy, I mean I remember saying we were closer to the relegation zone at one point than we were to a top 4 finish, and yet now we may genuinely be in contention for 3rd place, which, given everything that has happened this season, would be phenomenal.

We've seen performances improve rapidly, squad harmony seemingly through the roof, young talented players of the academy shining, results coming in; and not the boring 1-0 kind, but multiple goals and attractive football kind, inaffective players like Lingard finally being dropped for extended periods of time. I always did hope that he would prove me wrong and I am so happy that he has done so up to this point. Long may it continue, let's have a good summer of selling some poor players, and bringing in some good talented young players, and the future of this club is very bright I think.

Now then, maybe its you that needs to take more time to read posts, so many assumptions, all of them missing the point of my post, should of read it properly before getting your undies in a twist. While your wasting your time doing that, il repeat what i clearly said the first time..."That second sentence is cringeworthy" not the whole post...The second sentence.

Using the term "for his sake" on a football forum is embarrassing, im embarrassed for you...What were you going to do, Fact check him to death? Type with cruel intentions? Im sure the other poster would of survived, i hope so For there sake!!

Your comments a pleb, you sound like someone who'd wear Camo for a game of laser quest.
:lol::lol::lol: Do you hear yourself mate? I’m wasting my time??? Wasn’t me who found the need sound me out about sounding cringe-worthy or being embarrassing and God knows what else you squeezed in your rant.

That bolded part isn’t my style. Just felt that poster being a Dortmund fan was having a fact-less dig at us so needed some correction and checking.

If you didn’t bother reading my post then why on earth are you even commenting on what you think about my posts to begin with??? Mind boggling.

Also - incase you didn’t know, football forums exist to debate/discuss and as a united fan it’s in my right to debate a rival fan whose having fact-less digs at us.

I’m actually embarrassed to see posters like you on here acting all Mrs. Hudson in here trying to get involved when you aren’t even bothered to know the backdrop of the whole story. Since your such a keyboard warrior, how about you go rant at someone where you have something substantial, relative, and decent to say in response??

Also I’m glad you mentioned the word pleb - since you have nothing better to do than judge or correct me in a shallow style about saying/not saying certain things that you have no business with just shows me you’re actually one yourself!
Having said that, please continue to waste your time responding back but I actually spend my time discussing worthwhile things on here and grow mine and fellow posters’ knowledge bases while doing so. Hence I’m not going to bother responding back to you going forward.:nono::lol:

No I like James too I kind of meant starting every game as he was throwing in the deep end as he should be learning not starting. Which is the fault of the club not him.

Yeah I’m all for supporting and backing managers and I feel fans turn on them too quick but the first half of the season was poor, we blamed injuries but ole left us short which meant Ighalo on loan. I think Ole has done well getting rid of deadwood which including Lukaku for good money and now we have options we are doing well but leaving us so short up top in the summer contributed too are poor start.

The one good thing he has done well is notice what is wrong and fix it I like that he is learning quick but I always feel like managers should not have to learn here and they should be experienced enough.

Anyway I’m enjoying the last few months under Ole and even if no top 4 he has my backing so I hope he delivers and it would be no better feeling as a legend

Firstly, those are quite a lot of assumptions by you.

The subtle dig aimed at the poster I was mentioning definitely did make that poster seem like a hipster to me who had no idea about our clubs system and blamed it on the lack of a DoF.

Secondly, by the sound of it, you look like you don’t know what all a DoF does apart from ‘executing a club vision’.
The influence a DoF can have in the operations can and are pivotal to a clubs way forward and sometimes that influence can backfire.

Lastly, I wouldn’t be found moaning next season if we don’t win the title because we’re obviously not there yet. That’s not to say we can’t but I wouldn’t set my hopes that high so early. Still a lot of work required to become steady title challengers year upon year. But I do find myself contempt with the progress being made by the men currently in charge (Ole & team).

If anything, we needed a DoF much more when Mourinho was in charge and needed to be reminded to stick to our clubs ideologies along with his own footprint being stamped. Ole in the meantime had a very clear idea about the situation and didn’t need much help in reminding what our club is about. Going forward, we need a DoF who will replicate/support Ole’s ideas and help him manage the club with less of a burden on Ole himself behind the scenes. That being said, I would once again like to emphasize that I’m all for a DoF but not one who will come exercise his powers in a way where he could potentially ignore the insight given from Ole and negatively impact our plan going forward. Hence why I said that now the timing of signing one would be much better as we have a better idea of where we stand, and what we lack.

Fair play. Proper response.

Promote him. By the order of peaky feck....

I was always an Ole in guy and my support for him never wavered. i read back the first 5 pages of this thread and there were only 2 guys who were against sacking him (Class of 63 and DSG). I hope every fan is seeing the bigger picture and not thinking of short term success.
