Bonkers to have the usual people bashing Ole, tonights not the night for it, big away win against one of the biggest challengers for the CL spots. He's not the man long term, but yeah enjoy a result, this is meant to be fun.
Ole ekes by, yet again. He has a way of getting big wins when the pressure is well and truly on.
Great result but definitely not a performance to build on, more of the same performance and we won't be as lucky every game as having the opponent missing free chances and getting 2 goals disallowed, with losing their most important midfielder early in the game and us not getting a sent off which could have been called on another day. More of this performance and we'll lose more often than not surely. Let's take on the great result and try to improve on such performance next games.
We definitely benefited from a few calls, but we also hit the post. A very positive result to go there and without Rashford and leave with all three points. The best part about today is that nearly every player played very well. Fred, ABW, McGuire in particular. This is the sort of galvanized performance I wanted to see from Ole.
How many managers got us relegated?Remember a number of our fans here were calling him our worst ever manager.
That includes all those post Busby managers who ended up getting us relegated.
Simple, if he gets us back into the CL, he deserves another season, if not then relieve him of his duties.

Nothing proven tonight for him. Obviously pleased with the result, but we got incredibly lucky. Whether he gets us CL spot or not, he has to go at the end of the season. By now, we've seen enough to know whether or not he's good enough for us, and the answer is pretty obvious to anyone reasonable. Another season of him would be another wasted year and enduring ourselves to another season of mediocrity.

I mean the thread gets bumped regardless of result. If he loses, it'll be people asking for him to get sacked. If he wins, it's people who support him asking the skeptics to show their faces. It's not that hard to understand when the club manager is the second most contentious topic at the club after ownership. But it's much easier to get a new manager than new owners, so people expend their energy on arguing about the manager instead. There are an awful lot of posters led by their agendas on here
Is it 'reasonable' that this is still the busiest thread on here after a win at Chelsea? People are obsessed with talking about him. Why not post in the post match thread and discuss the performance, the match, the players? You know, the actual football.
I don't think anyone has taken credit from him for getting points against the top 6, we already knew that going into this match. But tonight, we really did get incredibly lucky, and the result could have easily gone against us if the officiating was consistent or competent. Two wins away at City. Two wins away at Chelsea. Only team to take points of Liverpool. Beaten Spurs. Beaten Leicester.
Only had a full strength team in two games all season.
I accept people’s opinions who don’t think he’ll be successful here and want him gone. Having everyone currently at the club fit to work with, however, and bringing in another two or three top quality players and you’re judging something else entirely.
Certainly if you’re an optimist or have some sympathy with the squad difficulties there are a few reasons to hold out some hope.
United need a new manager next season, Ole had done a job that was needed, however, we need to move on and become what we should always be, one of the top 5 challenging teams in Europe year on year.
I still want him gone asap, we’ve been here before under him and we’ll be there again until we hire a manager that’s actually capable of moving us forward. We have a good team, but under Ole, that team simply won’t thrive. The performance tonight was generally poor and Chelsea were unlucky not to get at least a point.
& you think that’ll happen by simply changing manager??
How’s the past 7years worked out for you?
What about when we had the most successful manager bar SAF managing us & we still wanted him out.
Some people need to wake up and smell the roses, We simply are not good enougg any more and changing managers won’t give us the overnight success that you all crave so much
Correct.Every signing Solskjaer has made has improved us significantly. He's only been allowed to bring in a handful of players. The likes of Pep and Klopp have signed whole new XIs. If we get rid of the dross, instead of giving them new deals, and let Ole actually rebuild the squad we will come good again.
No manager has a damn chance at this club unless he plays exciting attacking football all the time. Against all opponents. The fans, as a whole, will accept nothing else. And then any manager who does that but fails to win will be called clueless, I’m sure.
A definite no-no is any manager who sets up pragmatically or focuses on the structure of the club and tries to build for the future because he just will not get the time. United is more or less the worst club in the world for such managers.
I don’t like it but the solution is to recruit the most attacking coach we can find and give him a year. One year. If he fails just start again and hire the most attacking coach again. One year is all he should get unless he wins.
Any talk about getting the right man to build us up is pointless as we will burn the next guy before he unpacks his suitcase unless he goes Pompeii on Klopp’s ass, to name but one.
This rules out most managers of course. I could not bear it if we sack Ole and replace him with Poch or Allegri - they would be more nails in our coffin. Bielsa would be fun. Crazy but fun. Is there a character limit on posts in this place?

People like you hold our species back.
Ole is building a team. We just need to back him properly.
What are you on about? He's removing unsuitable players and bringing in better ones. Our net spend is low since he's been here and his 4 signings all look really good.I don't understand what people think he's doing that is different to the other coaches that have come before him (or any other coach at any other club in the world for that matter). There's no rebuild going on - we're just functioning as normal and spending money just as we have done under every manager post SAF. Ole's not implementing a radical new style of football, we're hardly signing teenagers (26, 25, 22, 22) these are probably the most expensive signings on average of any United manager e.g. players coming up to/in their prime.
Back him or don't, that's everyone's own opinion but let's not buy into this rebuild hype when it's just words. Every manager coming in will move players on and look for a certain type of footballer, every manager will talk about their philosophy and spew the buzzwords than fans want to hear about hardwork, the right type of players and culture. Judge Ole on what we see on the pitch.

Why not? You think replacing Andreas with Bruno won't make us better and more consistent??? What about improving players like Fred and Rashford. Does that not help results? He's barely had a midfield all season. Relying on the likes of Pereira has really hurt us. As we continue adding good players results will obviously improve. That's why teams sign players. Poch, Pep and Klopp all signed between 18 and 27 players. It wasn't just for a laugh they did it.What i'm saying is, Ole cannot take us any further in terms of consistent performances over a season.
Having someone like Potch (or better if available) and a better transfer strategy and clearing out all the rubbish we held on to for way too long, is what we need next season.
Atleast let him have a team that is full strength and that too for a period of time and then make such remarks. Our top performers this season are out with injuryWhat i'm saying is, Ole cannot take us any further in terms of consistent performances over a season.

Also, why Poch? Spurs were decent under him and played nice stuff but they usually bottled it when it mattered. His signings were very hit and miss, he had a poor record against good teams and he literally said winning trophies is just good for building your ego. That attitude isnt gonna cut it here. I'd trust Ole a lot more in a big game or European knockout.
Also why can't Ole get rid of the deadwood. He's already doing it. He's already got rid of Sanchez, Darmian, Rojo, Young, Valencia and Fellaini just to name a few.
Rashford won't return any time soon, unfortunately. I hope McT returns soon and is as solid for us as he was before the injury. We did not have Rashford, McT or Pogba.
They will make a huge difference for us when they return.

Pogba... will he ever return and will it even matter? At this point, I have stopped caring to be honest. Sell him, get the 100M if somebody is paying that much and buy the players who we need and will play most of the season. Obsession and fetish over a player who doesn't feature whole season is ridiculous at this point.
As for Ole.... With today's win he certainly bought himself some more time. He keeps doing this touch-and-go thing, but so far - surviving
