This thread should be silent until the season ends. The way we played in the first half against City is proof enough to give Ole more time to implement his ideas. I’m not totally convinced and still vote OleOUT but I can’t find a logical reason to change manager in the middle of the season as long as we win the majority of our games against the top teams.

If we starts to produce similar performances against the rest then there is nothing to complain about. Three points against Everton and we’re in the race. That‘s promising.
 
No I wouldn't sack him but you know it's a tough situation. I think we should have more points on the board but we look a threat when we attack teams. We lost a goalscorer but others have stepped up which shows it was the right choice. Rashford has blossomed with the responsibility and Greenwood and Martial have chipped in. We didn't buy that many players. We got rid of some. We just have to keep up the momentum but i think when teams sit back we need to force it more. Force mistakes. There are areas we can improve upon. We need to make games uncomfortable. But the younger players, who have featured, are getting a good experience and other kids will be excited by the opportunities. The mentality of the group is the key. Just play your game and don't worry. The better team/players will win games more often then not.

Ferguson wasn't the norm, he was the anomaly.

There is progression, I'm showing it to you in the form guide.

But beyond that almost every supporter knows our starting XI, yes it needs improvements but a huge issue for years has been square pegs in round holes.

As for the rest of the season and showing signs of progression (I posted this on my own thread about the form)


  1. We've beaten Chelsea twice - Once was to knock them out of the cup.
  2. We're one of only two teams to beat Leicester - Everyone had us dead to rights to be beaten badly by Leicester.
  3. Everyone had us dead to rights to lose to Wolves, we didn't. We actually outplayed them for the majority and but for some penalty misses should of won.
  4. We're the only team to knock points off Liverpool.
  5. Qualified from the Europa league group with ease, albeit in ugly fashion with a bunch of kids.
  6. Rashford is one of the leagues best performing forwards and only Abraham & Vardy have scored more goals, but Only Vardy has been involved in more goals (assists included).
  7. AWB is arguably the best performing right back in the league, defensively he definitely is. If he can add a final ball to his game he'll be the best.
  8. McTominay is improving week after week and building an understanding with Fred, to finally give us a functional centre midfield pairing.
  9. We've had countless great performances from the season opener vs Chelsea, Wolves (bar about 15 mins). Palace we may have lost but we smashed them with 27 shots. We bettered Liverpool for the majority of the game. Norwich we smashed! Partizan was another great game, Brighton another and of course this weeks 2 games.
  10. He's bought wisely in his 3 players
  11. He ousted players with s*t attitudes in Lukaku and Sanchez and he is phasing out Young and Jones.
  12. We've plenty of young players coming through that look likely to keep their spots for years to come - Greenwood, Williams, Garner and Tuanzebe are the most notable.
  13. We are still in the league cup
  14. We are still very much in with a shout of top 4
 
Been out since the summer. But those who changed to in because of the last 2 wins are a disgrace if they change to out again before next season.
 
My vote's been out for several months. I don't understand why people keep changing their votes on a game-to-game basis. :confused:
 
Would rather have poch or rodgers in. If Ole wasnt an ex-united player no one would have wanted him here for the job. But i think he deserves a full season.
 
This is why all the people who swapped back to keep were being quite silly.

What is the point of a manager who is too tactically impotent to beat any team other than City and Spurs?

We paid Leicester 80 mil for maguire and they are 15 points ahead of us. I dislike rodgers persona, but hes one of the better managers out there.
 
And that’s why I didn’t change my vote in spite of being delighted with the last 2 results.
 
It's like Ole setup the team in preseason and said I have 0 thoughts and 0 tactical ability so play one way all season long.
 
I enjoyed the last 2 wins and I was hopeful that we would continue to play with similar speed and intensity.

Neither the players nor the manager is good enough.

Can we beat teams outside of the top 6 on a consistent basis?

Right now the answer is no. If it's still no at the end of the season he needs to be sacked.
 
Ole in or out talk is pure nonsense, people just get hooked into specific person and tunnel vision from there. Like screw the club, clearly not that important, lets go back and forth, spin shit, propaganda, make stuff up, mental logic on one side, insults on other, fecking hell. This place is just bananas, since JM became a United manager.
 
After win over spurs and City, many were hopeful that we have really turned a corner. Many were willing to observe a few more games especially against team that defend deep. Lo and behold, nothing has change and we are back to being our normal self.

It's also worth noting that Norwich have beaten City this season...

And Brighton and Newcastle have beaten Spurs...

Us beating both was another 'false dawn', and the knee-jerk reaction was way over the top and embarrassing.

Ole simply isn't a good enough coach for Elite level footy - people need to wake up to the fact that he's only still in a job because of the rotten, negligent ownership that Utd is under and nothing else.

Ole as manager is another symptom of Glazer ownership - and nothing to do with 'history', or 'long term planning'...

Indeed, his very appointment was based on short-term results, rather than a coherent long-term vision.

Based on this past year, then OGSs last chance is the transfer market if he can’t get a tune out of these players against the inferior sides. It might work but it won’t reflect well on him if theres no change and if he improved us then it shows his limitations as a really good manager if he has to have big money signings.

I‘m still pissed off with our summer transfer window and the complete neglect of not replacing Herrera, Lukaku, Sanchez and Fellaini in terms of personnel. That was shocking. I blame both OGS and the board for that.
 
Ole needs to go and this has been my position since Newcastle away. Not that he will, though.
 
He’s getting til the summer anyway, but he needs some serious investment in the next two windows. I don’t really believe anyone could get a tune out of this lot.
 
The reason I voted out some months ago was because of the total lack or attacking plan and passing rhythm. After some high profile wins, is back to the same when an opponent stays deep. Till there's an indication that he recognizes this weakness and is doing something about it (not starting lingard at 10 against a massed defence would be a start), there's no reason to change the vote.
 
Silver lining of this latest shit result is at least the sanctimonious individuals that like to have a go at people for not believing Ole is the right man have been put in their box yet again.

YES we all would like Ole to be a success. NO many of us don't believe he's the right man to get us winning again.

Blind faith is not an admirable or useful quality, today is yet another example of the kind of coach Ole is, lovely fecking guy and a legend of the club, but a mediocre manager and absolutely not cut out to be managing this great football club.
 
We consistently got the ball into the right areas but our forwards were uncharacteristically wasteful with their crossing and shooting. Ole is in charge of the first part of that. He can't come on and take the shots for them.

Seriously frustrating. We should have beaten them easily. Momentum stopped.
 
Not changing my Ole out vote any time soon! I struggle to see any gameplay or plan in attack or defence. I haven't seen any attacking patterns repeated in matches let alone a match. He's not a united level manager, brilliant player and legend though!

Why?

I don’t believe he is capable of leading United to success, so why would I want him to keep the job long term? What kind of fan would actively route for something they don’t believe to be the best thing for their team?

The last few weeks so many people have been falling over themselves to paint this narrative that people who don’t think Ole is up to the job will have been gutted by the wins and are poor fans. Whilst for the most part those of us in that camp have celebrated the victories and yet remained concerned about the fact that as a team United are not able to beat teams that don’t play attacking football against us.

It’s an odd situation where those big games against Spurs and City actually suited us well due to the way they play. It’s not about flip flopping with every win or loss, or knee-jerking because we’re not steam rolling teams every week and winning trophies, it’s a consistent opinion that based on the way things have gone for the last 12 months Ole isn’t the man for the job.

I’ll still love him forever, but he needs to be replaced in my view.
 
Regardless of the manager this group of players are so damn frustrating to watch. A grand side when in front and plays with their tails up but when behind and they have to knuckle down and pull a win out of the bag they either huff and puff or go missing.

Today reminded me of April 2018. 2-3 away win v Man City then the following game United lost at home to West Brom whom ended up getting relegated.

As supporters are we foolish enough to think this current group of players are going to become established top 4 consistent team?
 
Looks like Jose's first season all over again. Top 4 is too much, so all the chips going down in Europa League basket.

He knows how to fix this or it's a waste of time... the 5th manager in a row will know how to fix this or it's a truly colossal waste of time.
 
I wonder if we practice defending or attacking at corners? How on Earth did two Everton players were allowed to attack the ball and the keeper in the box? It's something else that DeGea flapped at it but there is no way that two players should have had a free run.
 
We probably should have won the game today. Other than the poor error by De Gea defensively we look fine. It’s breaking down a deep defence which we can’t do. This isn’t going to be resolved until we buy a decent number 10. How can we expect to win games when Lingard with no goals and assists in months is playing there? The other two options of Mata and Pereira aren’t good enough either.
