I haven't seen the game yet. Did he set us up well? How did we concede so late in the game?
Good post.
‘tis thread should be closed untill atleast closer to the season end. It’s pathetic

Great, have a discussion thread about Ole.Unless there's another good active thread to discuss Ole's performance as a manager this should stay open.
I don't get why people want to close the only active and regular thread about discussing the manager ? The one in the performance forum is dead, no one posts there. People aren't saying "sack him now" consistently in this thread. It's just a discussion about the manager's form either positive or negative.
If someone hates this thread so much, they can put it on ignore, but there should be at least one active big thread to discuss the manager in it.
You can just put any team instead of Leicester. If it is not Leicester it is Chelsea, Leipzig, Saints, Su....The 2 midfielders were essential today and played well against the Leicester midfield. James wasn’t the right selection against Leicester though.
Result has nothing to do with him today. That defence is a calamity. The midfield has absolutely no composure.
Some strange moves, though. Lindelof at RB, Pogba at LW, but otherwise he set us up correctly, but that game itself was sloppy.
It needs the inflammatory title and poll removing and then you would have a point (and we'd probably get better 'discussion').And the thread in performance forum is dead. People seem to find posting here easier than there, either those who support him or not. The discussions here haven't all about just sacking him and all that. So either tell people the one in performance forum is the main one and close this or change the title of this thread to be the performance one and close the other.
But at the moment it's clear the majority are just treating this as the performance thread and not just "sack him now" one. Mods have to choose one of them to keep and close the other.
You are also a storied and long time moderator of this forum.
So keeping this thread open makes mockery of this forum as a place for serious football discussion.
Another one for my blocked list.Don't see anything wrong with pointing out the obvious. Opinions can be stupid. Even obviously so.

You're saying this stuff as if you're some sort of expert and these things are black and white, that any casual observor can see. Football isn't so simple that you get to just say 'mistakes' for things you don't agree with.
Didn't like the line up, but we have 4 games in about a week now. Mixed things up and should have been leading at half time despite the supposed line up mistake.
Didn't like the formation change after James came off? Did we not dominate then and score again? Surely this was correct change?
Moaning that he didn't bring on matic? Thats a first on this forum, and laughable really. We had plenty on defensively and got undone by good movement and a lucky deflection. I suspect that if they had equalised with matic on you or many like you would be complaining that he invited the pressure with a defensive sub.
So many posters just use retrospect to support their opinion literally every time we don't win. It's a ridiculous and impossible standard.
Do you think we have a reliable enough no9? I think we need that more than a RW now, given we have youth options at RW.I think sacking him shouldn't even be a discussion right now because he's getting results.
I'm expecting a top 4 finish and then I hope Ole gets the players he desires in the summer which will hopefully help us play a more expansive game. For me the most important areas to improve are the base of midfield, CB and a new RB to rotate with AWB. But if Laird can stay injury free then he could come into the equation too.
What exactly is a players responslayibility if its not to cut out silly mistakes?OK! I challenge you a little bit.
1. Starting a players who isn’t 100% healthy when you have decent replacements is black and white in my book. First Viggo isn’t a natural FB, he’s primarily a CB.
2. His first decision to start Lindelöf make us vulnerable and that’s why he starts James, a player who clearly isn’t good enough at this level. So the first mistake leads to the second one. If we started with Axel as a RFB we could have started with either Greenwood or Cavani. Judging from James and Victor’s time at the pitch it was a clear mistake, both of them didn’t perform well.
3. I give you that Pogba changed the momentum of the game and that we scored a second goal but at the same time was his defending horrendously bad when Vardy scored his goal. But let’s not split hairs. I give you that this wasn’t black and white.
4. In my book Fred didn’t perform well the last 30 minutes. I think that was clear as daylight. But the first initial mistake is leading to the second and the third. Start with Axel and Greenwood and we should have more options to change players in the second half. Maybe I’m judging too harsh but it’s so unnecessary.
5. Cutting silly mistakes is all on our coaching staffs responsibility. It’s called discipline and you do that by introducing simple options how to handle stressful situations. I want Ole to do well in every situation so that’s why I get irritated when he does unnecessary mistakes that could be avoided.
If we finally get the right wing sorted then relying on a number 9 will be less important. We also have Greenwood to potentially make the number 9 his own in the future.Do you think we have a reliable enough no9? I think we need that more than a RW now, given we have youth options at RW.

How does a manager do that on the field of play, use his remote control?
You simply created an unsubstantiated laundry list of imaginary issues, so you can continue with nonsensical criticism for the manager. Why not use that creative brainpower for a better purpose?
Well sammsky there are many things a manager can do to create confident decision making. Make sure that in certain situations players only have one option to chose. Give the players clear instructions to;
a) pass the ball to your teammates preferred foot, if possible in front of his movement.
b) make movements so you make yourself available for passes
c) do not walk with the ball, do not walk without the ball when you are involved in a situation
d) don’t put your teammates in stressful situations with sloppy backward passes
e) don’t dribble in you own half
f) don’t pass the ball sloppy to the goalie when you’re inside the penalty area
g) only one touch when you have an opponent just behind you
This is only a few thing a manager can implement to his squad. Any decent manager tries to absolve his players from unnecessary decision making. Try to shorten any thinking process to a minimum. If a player only have one option it will give him time to focus on execution.
All these things are coachable and on the manager to implement. I do not put all the blame on Ole but it is his responsibility to address some of these problems if we repeatedly make the same mistakes over and over again.
Good post.

I don't think we do and can see why one would prioritize signing one. But for me I feel if we improved the the build up phase which starts with the defense and deeper midfielders, then it would allow us to play with a higher line, more risk and also enable us to control games better.Do you think we have a reliable enough no9? I think we need that more than a RW now, given we have youth options at RW.
It's not the first time. The top reds like to have this convo after every non-loss to show their loyalty to the cause. We all don’t have much to talk about today, we decided to argue whether we need to keep this thread or not
It's a moderating team. Generally, all decisions are made mutually.
This is why I compared the thread to Brexit.Stop explaining yourself to these insecure individuals.
Never in life have I seen so much talk about banning a thread which clearly has significance to how the fan base feel as a whole. There’s a big divide and this thread represents it.
When the atmosphere changes so will this.
Since 22.december the following has happened:Still troubled by this thread, but it is what it is.
Let’s keep the thread open, but how about closing and reopening the poll to see how many of us really want to sack Ole right now? It’s likely a lot of the yes votes are pretty old.
Nothing wrong with this thread staying up just like all the old ones of last few years. It works just as much in defense of him getting into a position of retaining his role than a call to sack him. It's right that it's a continuous discussion rather than new threads if we slip into poor form. Sensitive souls some of you.
Performances are starting to match results so if we can keep this up he'll be here next season.
