Would you choose a win against Brighton in the league or the FA cup now?

Didn't we beat City a few months ago with the same squad? Why are people so convinced they'll thrash us if we reach the final?

I feel there's been a shift in opinion in the Caf. Three months ago it was all 'chase everything we are top reds' but now reality has seeped through.

Top reds? It's nothing to do with being a top red or not.

We've got injuries piling up, the season is starting to falter, and more importantly we're pretty liable to getting a complete pasting at the moment.

We shouldn't have to choose. We are Manchester United.
Nobody is saying we do have to choose, so that's a bit of a strawman.

It's a hypothetical question designed to test what our priorities are and how strong the squad is.

Yeah the connection is that top reds usually say stupid over-aggressive tribal stuff that sounds macho until reality hits. So three months ago it was fight on all fronts and now it's defend Berlin.

FA Cup.
We must stop City from winning the treble, at all cost.

I’m taking the FA Cup… We need to win that. Beating City in the final is the only thing that could make up for last night’s embarrassment…

We were playing better and in a stronger position 3 months ago?

Our priority should be to win every game. Our squad is no worse than Brighton's, so let's win both.

weirdly this season we usually go on a good run after the disaster games, i think they will be ok for Brighton, and if we make it to City then anything can happen

Martinez won't be available and who knows about Varane. I think we have every reason to worry. Harry vs Haaland...

Ten Hag chose not to start Martinez vs City in Jan and that turned out alright. I don't think Varane's injury is serious enough to keep him out until June.

And our current injury and exhaustion problem was completely foreseeable but not addressed. Even Ole knew to play the B team in the cups.

Oh apologies. Perhaps the single priority should be to decide to put in a performance against Brighton in the FA Cup, then willingly hand our arses to them in the league. Much better?

Not choosing is choosing by default. But now it's too late anyway.

Both but if had to choose one then FA cup. Reckon we’ve done enough to secure top 4. Of course City will be favourites but anything could happen in a cup final. It’s a one off game.

Because City have initiated 'unstoppable juggernaut' phase. I could only see Real or maybe Arsenal beating them in a one-off game at the moment!

The final is on 3rd June. A lot can happen in the space of 6 weeks. If we finish the season strongly and have most of our players back from injury then I fancy Rashford to cause them problems again.

Having said that, this Brighton semi has come at the worst time.

Funny how some opinions will change if Sheff United do the unthinkable today

City will spank arsenal just like they always do. Especially now since arsenal are bottling it. We have a better chance of beating city in a 1 of game if we’ve got a fully fit team. We always do the unthinkable against them.

If stopping City's treble is our motivation, then on current form Brighton have a better chance of beating City in the final than we do.

For that reason, if someone put a gun to my head and asked me to choose, I'd take a league win over winning tomorrow.

League. We're in real danger of losing the plot entirely with all our injuries and our Championship-level squad outside of the first 11. We could easily mess up top 4 and a big win would really help. Whereas we're getting annihilated by City in the final if we get there.

If we beat Brighton tomorrow it could have a physcological bearing on the league game as well. On this alone the FA cup win is priority. We will still get top 4 anyway I reckon when you look at Newcastle and Spurs run in.

Player recruitment is the most important thing for us right now
It relies heavily on being in the CL
Therefore league win is the priority

No Martinez, No Varane, Shaw limping, Rashford dodgy groin, Erikson and Casemiro need more games to get going, Garnacho injured, Martial injured, and De Gea & Maguire seem to have gone full Ritchie Tenenbaum.

Chances are almost all of those issues (asides from Martinez's injury) will no longer be applicable come June 3rd. And Ten Hag didn't start Martinez in the win vs City in Jan.

Feels absolutely unforgivable that we are driving down to neutral Wembley as underdogs to Brighton. Before people cry – Injuries! – the bookies and betting exchanges would still be pricing Brighton as favourites.

Cannot think of a surer sign of the mediocrity of this football club than the match odds today. It should be a massive wake-up call as to where the club currently finds itself.

The manager needs to rapidly sort out the mentality of the team away from Old Trafford and getting them playing with the same belief as they do at home. The business needs to be done in the summer to enable us to kick on and get a proper goalkeeper and centre forward in.

You claim that bookies would still have Brighton as favorites if both squads were going into this at full strength?

No one cares about a league win anymore since top 4 is more or less confirmed. The only thing people want is more trophies at this time, even a charity shield.

It really isn’t. Next 3 games are Spurs, Brighton and Villa. Three very tricky games, especially with injuries still plaguing us. A trip to WHU is never easy for us, and there’s still Chelsea to play as well. Top 4 is far from a certainty.

Newcastle, Spurs, Brighton, Liverpool and even Villa could go on runs. Liverpool tend to finish the season well, they’re not that far behind and they have a pretty straightforward finish to the season.

We can get top four even if we lose to Brighton in the league. We cannot win the FA Cup if we lose to them today. No question for me.

Yeah. Pretty sure they would. Martinez and/or Varane aren’t making much difference.

Most of the analytical models that go deeper than results have Brighton as a a comfortably better side than us and that is what will drive the betting odds to a large extent.

We are Manchester United and should be winning both. However, I’m extremely worried about the down turn in our form and the prospect of dropping out of the top four is unthinkable yet a very clear possibility.

The arrogance in here is unreal at times. I’m seeing a lot of comments of “top 4 is done” etc. It most certainly isn’t. A couple of draws for us and a couple of wins for Liverpool and Brighton and they will be putting massive pressure on us.

Not finishing top 4 will be a disaster and I’d snap your hand off for the three points against Brighton over a win in todays game.

The sad fact is, with our current injuries and away form, we’re far more likely to stop the treble by losing to Brighton today
