Would you be satisfied if we only won the league?

Yes

I'm disappointed we didn't win the CL again due to Barca's brilliance, but we're now in transition between that side and something new.

We're probably not good enough to win the CL - if we come up against Barca again it will be embarrassing - but it would be a great achievement to win the league with most of that great side over thirty or moved on.

Just to be a pedantic gobshite, we're certainly good enough to win the CL. We're probably as good or better than two of the previous three winners. We're not the best team in the competition of course, so it'll likely take a fair slice of luck for us to win it.

Completely agree about the rest - we're still in transition especially in defence, and winning the league would represent a very satisfying season.

Just to be a pedantic gobshite: hence the 'probably'!

Yes x 1,000,000.

It's always what I want the most, and is the most likely thing we can expect given the draws in the FA Cup and the strength of sides in Europe.

Any season with the league won is a lot more than just satisfying.

YES!

I'd be extatic. The league is what I always want us to win.

EDIT: an upgrade on our last title-winning season review would make a little double.

Only winning the league??

That in itself is a great acheivement, particularly the satisfaction there would be in wresting back the title from them

It's always a successful season after winning the league title. Everything else is just a bonus. Tournaments have an element of luck considering clubs can draw a very easy (or very difficult) route to a final, the games are played midweek, and all the matches (including european) seem a little less quality opposed to a league fixture.

Only? There's nothing only about a league.
Everything else is jam.

People think Barca would embarrass us? Jesus we're not that bad

I want the treble. And if Barca somehow get eleminated, I think that is entirely possible.

But in the end, winning only the league is still good.

Satisfied... yes i will be *if* we win the league. But many in here seem to forget how we threw it away last year...

Now that said I would be lying if I didn't say I dreamed of a few more bits of silver.

The Madrid tie could still go either way easily
It would be sods law we'll do the league double over City only for them to knock us out of the FA Cup
So yes the league is more than enough for me

I'd be highly satisfied with just the League this year. I still think we are a signing short (central midfield) to really compete in the Champions' League.

The FA Cup would be a fine bonus for us, especially because it has been too long since we last won it.

Threads like this are just asking for trouble.

Winning the league is the main thing each year.
Will be delighted IF we only win the league.

Cups are subject to all manner of bits of luck and circumstance. You can always have a game like ther Portsmouth home game where you smash them but still lose.

Satisfied, yeah.

But i want the FA cup this season. Been a long time since we won it now.

CL would be a massive massive bonus.

How so? Its a simple question.

Winning the League would be extremely satisfying. The League, a cup semi and a Euro semi would be marvelous (as long as we didn't get knocked out by a rival in the FA Cup). Anything else, well..

It would, but feck me, it would be gut-wrenching to be so close to a possible Treble and miss out.

2008 and that Portsmouth match still haunts me.

winning the league is always fantastic, id be more than satisfied that we won it. cups are icing on the cake, league is our bread and butter.

The League Champions don't get crowned in February so nothing is won yet and anyone saying different is just tempting fate. I would be more than happy with just the league anything else is a bonus

Yup totally agree. I know kelt just said that.

But pain is sometimes brilliant, we can't win them all.

If we're there or there abouts sooner or later we'll repeat 1999.

We are a long way from winning the CL. Considering the team we have at the moment: I don't have anything like the confidence in the CL as I did in 2008.

I just can't see us beating Barcelona for one, we haven't really added anything to our team to stop us from getting brutalised in the middle of the park again.

Then you have Bayern, Dortmund, Juventus and PSG who would all cause us problems.

The league would be enough for me and the FA Cup would be a sweet bonus.

The league is where we invest the majority of our time, emotions, money, support etc. through-out the season, winning it is the point of our season. Any Cup is a bonus.

Champions League is always seen as a bonus, although I'd like to think we can go all the way in the FA Cup as well as the League this season.

For all the talk of us being 'poised for a treble', the fact is, the leading clubs in England, Spain and Germany can all realistically say the same thing. All three clubs are at least 10 points clear in their domestic league and probably have more favourable ties than us to negotiate in the Champions League too. We will all be treble chasing, and we can't all win it.

Stop talking sense, you! :D

Not really, I want too some good FA and CL results, maybe either of these cups.

And this season has been so dramatic so far with all these victories after running after the score, a Premiership doesn't seem enough to underline it.

I was tempted to make a thread about this, it's amazing.

Spain: Barcelona, 15 points clear, Semi Final of the cup (vs Real Madrid 2nd Leg), Milan in the Champions League
Germany: Bayern Munich, 15 points clear, Quarter Final of the cup (vs Borussia Dortmund), Arsenal in the Champions League
Italy: Juventus, 2 points clear, OUT OF THE CUP, Celtic in the Champions League (3-0 up)
England: Manchester United, 12 points clear, Last 16 of the Cup, Real Madrid in the Champions League

Talk about convergence. Three of the current league leaders (the ones furthest ahead) didn't win the league last year but are poised to do so now.
