Would you be happy with Lukaku, Matic, Lindelof and Perisic?

Yes, in part, like Martial, he's a big investment. But mainly because he only had a season to work with him and there's also the injuries. Let's say it would look good, and Mourinho's season as a manager was ok, but not enough to entitle him to any move.

Let's hope Shaw can rekindle his previous injury form, I believe he can.

--------------De Gea
Valencia - Bailly - Lindelof - ????
---------------????
-------Herrera --- Pogba
????----------------------Martial
-------------Lukaku

The question marks are areas where I think we still need to strengthen. Mkhitaryan and Shaw could fill two of them, but need to show more than they have done. Carrick would be fine for the DM slot if he was capable of playing every match, but alas those days are behind him.

The missing links are Shaw-Fabinho & Dembele

Make that Mahrez instead of Perisic and I would be satisfied.

Lukaku, Matic, Lindelof and Perisic?

Fine if Mourinho wants top 4, not if he wants the League, Champion's League, etc. And if Jose thinks those 4 are good enough, Woodward needs to take him to one side and remind him he's managing Manchester United, not Chelsea.
Not sure what your point is here? Chelsea have won the league 2 out of the last 3 seasons.

Nothing believable linking us with him. Don't think he would leave after one year either.

It's nice that Dembele has a left foot but do we really need that? We could get Gelson Martins who is an old-fashioned sort of winger and, IIRC, made 18 assists last season. That way we still have a played on that side who keeps the width.

Dembele's one of the most two footed players in world football right now.

He's fantastic. If we spend 90% of the rest of the summer budget on him and buy a cheap, decent DM like Roma just did with Gonalons I'd be very, very happy with our summer.

You're clearly down-talking Rojo.

You clearly have no idea what you're walking into.

Buddy.

Haha I know thanks for the warning. Rojo had looked dreadfull then last season he played and looked the part at left centre back (some of his tackling sailed close to the wind and he was fortunate not be red carded). Would I hang my hat on him? Absolutely not but he deserves a chance to stake a claim after his much improved form last season.
Player for player our best last season? He quite clearly wasn't nowhere near.

No Dembele links I agree, but if we are after a wide player he looks the business to me, and he's actually two footed from what I've seen.

Fixed

THIS is exactly what I came to say and think this right here IS a title winning team especially when you factor in Romero, Young, Smalling, Jones, Tuanzebe, Rojo, Blind, Fosu-Mensah, Carrick, Fellaini, Pereira, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Lingard and Rashford all in as well.

Matic would be a good player for us although I still think it would be a very underwhelming signing. I'd be going for Fabinho.

I wouldn't bother with Perisic. I'd rather see us buy someone good. Martial and Rashford can fight for that left wing spot. I'd be happy with that. I cannot see how Perisic is better than either.

Very happy with Lukaku.

Would have taken Matic, but not happening now we fecked Chelsea over.

Don't think Lindelof will happen, Portuguese press are nonsense pls notice

With Perisic, yeah I trust Jose.

We need more in attack but it doesn't look like it's available. Lukaku only replaces what we had in Ibrahimovic, Lindelof currently just replaces the injured Rojo.

You do realise he signed about a month ago?

We still have no width in the team - Valencia is a solid defender but useless in attack, and we don't seem to have anyone who can play left back. Without good fullbacks it doesn't matter if we have Messi behind Ronaldo up front - there's no space for anyone to play.

So no, I'm not happy! I think Lukaku is a great signing (I've no idea about Lindelof), but if we were to tie up the other two transfers I still think we're massively lacking.

I'd be really happy with those players but I'm really concerned about that left back position and the doubts over Luke Shaw's fitness. Our lack of attacking threat out wide from that left side really limits our options going forward.

Yeah agree with this

Perisic is a 2 footed player so can go on the outside and cross the ball supplying much needed width. Martial and Rashford can only cut inside to cross the ball, and both were poor last year there. Is Perisic any good? If Jose thinks hes better than Martial/Rashford there, then who are we to argue?

I'm more happy now we've almost got Lukaku. I really wasn't happy with the negotiating for Morata. Lindelof I've seen a couple of times for Sweden so will trust Mourinho's judgement and look forward to seeing him on the tour. Perisic I've seen a fair bit of and think he's a good player. Our defensive midfield signing I'm not so sure about really and I still think we could do with another attack minded player whether they're a striker/forward/whatever.

Signing Lukaku and Lindelof and getting rid of Rooney would be a relatively successful window for me, as long as players like Martial/Mkhi/Shaw etc step up their game next year we'll be fine. We could really do with a defensive midfielder as well mind.

I do think adding a winger and a def mid means the squad is well balanced etc. We are missing that game changer but if the right player isnt available should we blow 70m on the wrong player in panic? Think we all know answer.

Perisic and Matic would give us great balance and experience in areas we need.
Neither are flash signings but both very solid, I would be happy with both.

No, we'd still be missing a creative player. All the pressure would be on Pogba (and maybe Herrera if we get a dm to allow him to move further forward). I'd hope Mkhi can improve his creative output but the reality is we'd need a creative player like a Griezmann or even a James to make me confident of mounting a title challenge. Perisic isn't that player.

I would be happy with any DM, being Matic, Fabinho, Weigl, or even Dier. I trust Mourinho to pick exactly what is best for the team in that position.

In terms of LW, I am not convinced we are signing Perisic, we would have already signed him if that's the case. I think Ed still wants to make a splash in the market. Now that we have Lukaku, the longer we go without adding another forward player, the higher the possibility of Woodward and Mou getting us a good surprise near the end of the window.
