Would you be happy with Lukaku, Matic, Lindelof and Perisic?

Unless we bring in a creative outlet who can help with goals, I'm not that pleased. Lukaku is simply replacing Zlatan, it won't change the fact that we will rely too much on our number 9.

I don't expect Martial or Rashford to chip in as they aren't ready. Mata makes things tick but he won't start as much and Mkhitaryan is hot and cold.

It's contraversial, but I'd love to see us sign James.

This all day long. Such a good team. Greizmann next summer then and a LB RB upgrade if shaw doesn't step up and with Valencia not getting any younger.

Edit; or stick perisic in for shaw now and put Greizmann in for miki/martial/rash etc next season

Looks good. I'd love Dembele though. I think he's the real deal.

Rome wasn't built in a day but this is turning into a good team again under Jose.

Exactly this. Unless Martial and/or Mhki and one of our CMs has suddenly become world class, we're still going to be pretty dire to watch. A player like Griezmann might've got everyone moving a bit better, but Lukaku isn't going to.

Wouldn't be happy with Perisic or Matic, they are both massively overpriced if the figures are to be believed. I'd prefer to stick with martial or rashford playing from the left than perisic. Matic is past his best in my opinion, there must be someone better available.

As a follow on from the Would you be happy with Morata, Fabinho, Lindelof and Perisic thread I feel as though we could potentially be about to get all 4 of Jose's first choice signings (again) this summer (bar Griezmann who I will come to in a minute)

Lukaku - recent reports suggest he was always Jose's first choice for a striker and it was only our belief it was a done deal to Chelsea why we pursued Morata

Matic - the reports of our interest in him go back months, given Jose signed him at Chelsea I reckon he's always been our first choice in the DM position with it only being the fact that he played for a rival that we (the fans) dismissed the possibility of it happening. I know there's the thinking that Chelsea would no longer sell him to us now we've nabbed Lukaku but who knows maybe the deal is already done albeit waiting on Chelsea to sign a replacement (Bakayoko)

Lindelof - heavily linked with him in January I believe he was probably Jose's first choice CB over the likes of Keane

Perisic - there's been no plan B or C when it comes to a wide player unless in Perisic we're seeing our plan B to Griezmann and thus a change of how Jose now plans to set us up next season but working on the assumption that that can't possibly be the case if we do eventually pay what Inter want it'll be another 1st choice secured

So would you be happy with these 4? Obligatory formation shot below

Mhkitaryan---Lukaku-------Perisic

Still no for me. Perisic and Matic remain uninspiring targets in my view. Dembele and Fabinho would offer far more optimism and excitement for next season.

After Lukaku affair not sure Chelsea would sell us anyone. Looks like Inter have no intention of selling Perisic. Dier, god help us.

This thread does feel pointless. We already have one thread covering 75 percent of this thread and the other 25 percent is covered by Morata vs Lukaku

You beautiful person, you!

Still lacks one more goal scorer. As it stands and with these transfers we'll only have one reliable source of goals in the team. We need goals from out wide/behind the striker.

We need a player with the type of productivity like sanchez or hazard out wide to properly lift the team from last season.

This, except I don't believe James is dynamic enough. To make this system (focus on a tight defence and solid midfield with a big CF) work we need someone as effective as CR7, Hazard or Bale in their prime. I would love to see someone who brings genuine pace and frightens defenders - Perisic is not that person.

NO

It will basically leave us with a team lacking in guile and creativity, instead depending more on strength and speed to overwhelm the opposition. That would likely leave more skillful players (Mkhi, Mata, Martial etc) struggling to integrate and be effective and I doubt would be sustainable for a competitive championship run in the league. It would definitely not be enough against the top teams in the CL.

Mhikitarian scored 25 or so goals the season before last and Martial scored double digits too? Perisic got 11 or so. There are players there that can score goals. We don't need to score many goals either as long as we defend as we have been or slightly better. 7-8 more goals last season at the right times would have won us a lot of points.

People reckon we won't compete in the CL right away - if you're looking to buy a CL win in one season going from 6th in the prem I think you're being too greedy. You need a number of windows to build a team that good and you also need to do some self help and improve some of your own players eg martial pogba shaw bailly rashford

Lukaku, Lindelof and Perisic yes. Matic not so much.

I'd be pretty happy with that but what about left back? Are we believing Shaw can turn it around?
I believe Mourinho has no room of maneuver with the board not give him another chance. But I very much doubt he really believes Shaw can pull it.

I really can't see anyway that we get Matic now. Chelsea would have to be absolutely stark raving mad to not only let their top target go to their rivals but then also directly strengthen them by giving them one of their top performers of the last few years. Even Chelsea's board surely wouldn't sanction that.

As for alternatives, the obvious is Fabinho but at this point who really knows. We literally signed Lukaku one day after it was reported we were in for him. We could literally be negotiating for anyone right now we have no idea.

I'd ideally like better players than Perisic and Matic - but largely I'd be quite happy with that line up of transfers yeah.

You could probably find better than Perišić, but maybe he'll turn perfect fit, since he's a type we miss in the team. We could also do better than Matić, specially because he's known goods and too much of a cynical buy, one to have immediate effect.

Let's closed this thread and create it again when we have sign all those players. You never know what Ed is going to do next. Next, we might get Dembele.
Yeah, too soon, well it's good for a laugh and grin :D politely.

Lukaku and Lindelof checked.

We might not get Matic nor Perisic.. and we might even get Morata and some unexpected players.

Once new player signed.. create new similar thread?

Matic or dier in and im happy dont see where perisic improves us to be honest.

if we are in for a wide man try for lemar or lucas moura someone who can provide a bit of excitement.

or why not hail mary it Sanchez wants to leave arsenal wants to go to City.. why not test the water??

Why, due to the fee we paid for him?
Yes, in part, like Martial, he's a big investment. But mainly because he only had a season to work with him and there's also the injuries. Let's say it would look good, and Mourinho's season as a manager was ok, but not enough to entitle him to any move.

Get Douglas Costa for the right side, Perisic for the left and Fabinho for CDM. What a side that will be.
