Wouldn’t matter who we signed, unless Mourinho gets at least 30% more out of every player he has we won’t come close to competing with them anyway.
They missed out on Sanchez as they had already spent £400m at that point, then a week later they bought Laporte for their record transfer.
In both cases you give an example the player turned them down because they had better offers elsewhere.
City have unlimited money as such but still have FFP to abide to, so it must be staggered each year.
People was saying when Jose joined that he’d implode on the 3rd season, I didn’t believe it would happen but I see no other alternative now.

On paper we can afford multiple top class signings. In reality we will never know as we dont have access to our money.
Man it really is beyond a joke. Our best finish in years and we chose not to try and push on. Our best players will be looking for the door should it be a bad year.
Man City have missed out on 2 players so far, Sanchez and Jorginho. Both were because the players renegged on agreements because clubs came in with late superior offers.

The World Cup and the shortened Transfer Window have had a damaging effect on most of the top clubs with the exception of Liverpool who have done great business. Chelsea, Spurs are in similar position to United. Arsenal, who really knows how good their window has been and City signed a player they had basically tied up in the January Window.
Maybe it's time just to get behind the club and hope we have enough to get us through to January 1st 2019. We would have played 21 PL games, 6 CL games and hopefully 3 EFL CUP games. If we could somehow record 14 PL wins, 4 Draws and 3 Defeats and 4 wins in the CL, the whole Season might be far more exciting than most might imagine. The board might back Jose in that window and with new winter transfers now being allowed to play champions league, we might find the marquee players we need to kick on in the second half of the season.
There are clearly problems with our transfer policy, internal issues with the team and some players clearly not ready for the new season, so irrespective of whether we sign 1, 2 or No new players, I'm now excited and getting ready to take my seat at Old Trafford on Friday night to support my beloved United and I'm sure most of the true United Fans on the thread will be doing the same!

If they are rumours and none of them are the players he really wants then Jose should shut that shit down because it's affecting the club negatively. A lot of the speculation is due to his big mouth.

Two days left and we may end up up Harry, Jerome, Toby or Yerry, we may even up with a couple of these or possibly none at all. Will Martial leave? And more importantly will Pogba? Will we panic buy Milinkovic-Savic or rinse Barcelona for both Rakitic and Dembele. Likelihood is a resounding fe#k no, but it's fun to imagine.
Whilst the smart money is on both Darmian and Juan Mata sticking around until nearer the end of the European window, a Mata for Perisic swap gets more believable the more excitable I get. I think we work on a strict budget and since we bought 2 very expensive players in the last two summer windows, we have to evaluate the players very conservative. We are not in a position to spend 150m each summer. On the other hand, I dont understand why we dont try to sell younger top talents then
I wouldn't mind us just keeping what we have, getting top 4 and going all out next sumner possibly under a new manager who gels with Pogba and Martial, and who adds key reinforcements the management believe in. I actually can't believe that this thread has stayed alive for pretty much the entire window.
I thought we might get one signing, when the thread was created, though once we made it through the WC and Jose looked miserable (I understood that he was told that the club were not funding a title bid)...which is when I got disheartened.
I didn't believe for 1 second the excuse of "it's the WC which is holding up transfers".
Top 4 is our target and if Jose gets 4th, Woodward will be ecstatic and tell our owners that we spent very little in the transfer window, while still getting into the CL. The Glazers will be ecstatic.
If all of the above comes to pass, then we'll have to hope that in future Jose (like SAF before him) can win the league on a relatively low budget.
You think that the board will spend big next Summer, just because they didn't spend much this Summer? It doesn't work like that.
The way it has worked in the last few years is that when we drop out of top 4, the club spend big money, to get back into the CL. Also, they replace the manager.
The owners want to make money - spend as little as possible, while maximising/maintaining revenue = the biggest profit possible.
I ask you this question: why would they spend £300M, say, to win the title, when the extra income gained from winning the title is next to nothing? Serious question.
