Wot, no transfers? It's all happening now!

They have a clear strategy, understand the football business, know what is needed to succeed, etc. etc. Even when things don’t go too well, they can turn it around and the team is just incredibly strong

Yeah that is very true

So last 3 games? All in different competitions
If you think dropping your starting keeper in a must win game like wolves is just rotation then there's nothing to argue about.

If we are side-eyeing other teams, we should definitely want to be more like Bayern than Chelsea. Only difficulty is that we can't hoover up the best domestic talent cheaply like they can.

Are we even seriously linked with anyone right now? Every bit of reporting on Utd has gone dead only for the odd 'Sancho deal is further away' posts. There doesn't seem to be any movement anywhere.

Dropped him for a game! Had Ole played Jesse/AP for 33 of 38 games in the league and dropped him for the last game, we would have buried Ole alive. He has a more than decent backup and Cabalerro should have played more. Regardless, I'm not going to make this a Lampard bashing thread.

Jesus Woody. It’s getting comical. Get moving. So you are at an impasse over Sancho, ffs, address other areas of the squad. Find a replacement target.

The man can read a balance sheet and sell sponsorships, but in no way, shape or form should he be in charge of transfers. If he can’t land anyone, it’s time to let him go.

Time is ticking... we're still left with Smalling, Pereira, Lingard, Jones and Rojo
Todays bullshittery hit new heights when we're about to bid 140 something million for Ansu Fati, but can't bid 108 for Sancho

Hell Ed, at least find a new noodle sponsor or something! :boring:
Wait, What????? He's still here!!!! I thought he was sold not loaned out.

Just checked, it's true

It's an absolute joke how we're acting in this window

Another day with absolutely nothing  I want to cry.

Silva starts for Utd? And he's an upgrade at nearly 36? Not sure Chilwell is that much better than Shaw. Those players are not coming to rotate neither are the players here being rotated aside from injury or lesser cup games. Watch how Chelsea will start to implod when players aren't getting football. There are a lot of young players that played this season that won't next. Even if Rom and Sanchez worked out, do you think Martial would be here or we would have seen Greenwood?
Yes, have you seen our centerbacks? Of course hes an upgrade on Lindelof. Chilwell is better than Shaw because he is far better on the ball (especially final 3rd) and can stay fit for the most part.

But yeah, of course there are always issues like that. You still need a big squad and the manager just needs to know how to manage them, keep everyone happy. Sir Alex was the king at it. Our depth right now is non existent to the point where we overplay the main 11 and give them injuries, their level drops due to a lack of competition or rest, etc. And of course players here will rotate. Its simple - you perform, and you'll stay in fitness dependent. You lose form, you'll be rotated out. Just like how for Bayern they had Perisic and Coutinho to bring off the bench. Just like why we were going for Sancho, having 4 quality attackers to rotate between 3 positions, just like why we need quality creative midfielder cover. Its a weird thought process to think you can't keep a squad of players happy, when its what we did for years and years, very successfully, under Sir Alex. We have the league, the champions league, and 2 domestic cups right now in a condensed league schedule. If we want our season to not unravel very quickly, we need quality reinforcements and make some of the current starters depth players, or in other positions bring in depth.

Marc Roca reportedly headed for Altetico Madrid for less than 20m euros. He's better than Matic and a lot better than Fred/McTominay.

Plenty of value in the market.

Cant understand why Atletico is having a free go at him, 20M is peanuts. Thats how much we spent on Daniel freaking James.

It is so frustrating how inept we are in the transfer market. Other teams are doing some great business at a good price, yet we seem to be once again stuck in the same rut as last summer, and the summer before that, and the summer before that. We focus on one player, say Maguire/Pogba/Sancho. The selling club name their price. Then we spend 6 weeks trying to get the price down. Then on the final day at the final hour, we pay the originally named price, and we haven't bargained anything down or negotiated a better deal. And while we are messing around doing this, we haven't managed to sign anybody else in the window. It was clear as day that we should have signed Bruno last summer, but we put everything into getting Maguire. Now here we are once again embroiled in a ridiculous saga over Sancho. And you know what, if we do get him. I guarantee you that it will be at the price that Dortmund named at the start of the window. We are in desperate need for some quality in depth. And we have the likes of Donny Van de Beek being touted around for 40 million. Someone will snap him up, and he will be excellent for them, we are not even in the race. We have players like Lingard and Smalling (England internationals) who could be shipped out to Villa and we could then get Grealish in a player plus cash swap deal. Dalot could go back to Portugal and some of Bruno's mates come the other way. I am not confident that we have a team of people working on deals for us. All of our rivals are strengthening their squads for the long slog ahead, and we are standing still. It is great that we are finding the best 16 and 17 year old's of the future, but we need quality players now. Players that can improve the team. Remember when we had the likes of OGS, Sherringham, Ronny Johnsen, Henning Berg, Wes Brown, Nicky Butt, Sebastian Veron, Carlos Tevez... ON THE BENCH!! That is where we need to be now. At least 4 decent squad signings, to back up the starting 11.

We're a joke in the transfer market and it's time for fans to stop making excuses for the likes of Woodward and Judge. They're fecking useless. Look how long it took us to sign Bruno in January, we could've bought him at the start of the month we were interested in signing him in the previous summer so we had already done our homework and we knew how much Sporting wanted yet we dithered once again.

I wouldn't put it past Woodward to pay mouthpieces to post in the Caf because some posters in here look exactly that.

It's more likely that Woodward sells Old Trafford's naming rights than him being fired.
He's staying in the club for as long as he wants and will probably commission a statue of himself when he decides to retire.

Villa couldnt afford Lingards wages thats the problem

Panic not boys we’re getting Messi. Never mind all this ‘having a strategy’ bollocks....if in doubt, just buy Messi

Structure is rubbish. You have a board who refuse to change the structure after approaching 10 years of shite. A board who clearly have no idea of how to get us to the top, but refuse to delegate any of their responsibility to personnel who could actually get us there.

You can compete with smart spending, but you need the right staff and structure to do so, something we clearly have no intention of addressing. If you don't have those things, you over compensate with ridiculous spending, building a team so formidable they cover up for a lot of shortcomings, that's also not us.

It's so common with us these days. Spend the whole window chasing Sancho when we clearly have no intention of paying his fee, end up signing some cheaper, inferior alternatives. By January, when it's obvious our chances of getting into Europe are getting slim, sack the manager, make a panic signing. Use the bounce from that signing and/or the new manager bounce to get us over the line into Europe. Brief about how we are going to change the structure, hire a DOF, spend heavy etc. Rinse and repeat when the summer comes around. Unless we don't make the CL, in which case, spend, but spend poorly.
This. The sad reality is unlike Barcelona we cannot change the board and ceo with elections.

All this bad news recently and we still haven't even seen a quick brief saying that we're "preparing a bid" for someone or the dreaded "searching for a DOF", things really must be quiet at the club

Another day without news. Some posters saying its all happening behind the doors, away from the media which is good, some fans saying we are going to do jacks**t in the market.

Pure deja vu :D :D

Okay if we not have anyone lined up yet. The guys aren't even back in pre-season. But the strange thing is that nothing seems to happen. At all. Everything is so quiet. No rumors, loans, sales, or buys. Nada. What is everyone doing? What have Woodward and Judge been doing for the last month? Seriously I really would want to know.

Can we bash McGuire for this next year when we are crap? Maybe we should also send Lingaard out to Greece for a few days....

Just found out that Messi has told Barca he wants to go :D
Sorry Ed, we didn't know you were waiting for this to open up

Honestly feels like we’re all crawling through the desert looking for a drop of water whilst every other club is swimming in the oasis.

Same shit. Different year. They better have something up their fecking sleeve.

Hmmmm. What is the statue going to look like? Clipboard in hand, visor, a vest with sleeve garters and Alexei Sanchez spit polishing his wingtips?

I guess that United, like most other cubs, have been hit hard by lost revenue. Maybe we're able to take that loss better than some clubs because we have so many revenue streams. But I doubt the money is there for Sancho or even for Grealish.

What's more concerning to me is that lack of movement on outgoings. I had hoped that by now the likes of Smalling and Pereira would be gone. The worry is that the higher ups know there won't be any or many incomings and we need to keep players as squad options. This is a worst case scenario of course.

Sancho was a smokescreen for Messi lads.

It was planned by Ed all this time.

Ed doesn't deserve credit for signing Messi. It took him closer to 6 years to sign him. Certain he started his negotiations when he said "We can do things others can only dream of"

If we had a plan and know what we have to do, we would go for option B, and target the other 2-3 areas where we need improvements. Not all star players, but talented, young and hungry players. Just to improve the squad. Kinda like Bayern did

Any idea what Smalling is on at all,my guess is that it would be a similar amount to Jesse.

Personally I would like at selling them either Romero or seeing if they are interested in taking James on loan.

What is going on? For Ole to come third and to be backed like this so far is crazy.

All that progress will be for nothing again.

Sure someone said 75k with bonuses and addons

I'm genuinely beginning to get worried now. The teams already ahead of us are making very smart signings. We seemed to have put all our eggs in the Sancho basket which is now dead in the water, with any alternative being a clear downgrade, despite us already being so far behind. City have/will fix up their defence, Liverpool will add far more creativity and press resistance with Thiago, the less said about Chelsea - the better, Arsenal have improved their defence and added reliable output with Willian.

There's still quite a few weeks left, but players need time to gel with the team, they may need to be quarantined and our focus once the league starts should be the actual football ideally, not having transfers hanging above us.

If that is indeed the case then simply have to get Jack before the window closes, personally I am a greedy fecker and still want us to sign both of them
